I´m about to be 67 and yesterday I put on the turntable the LP of the soundtrack of the movie, a good moment of revival of my youth, I sang along every single word, fresh in my mind just like if those were learnt yersterday. That movie really made a mark on me. I just discovered this video, even tho this happened many years ago, It brought tears to my eyes. Lucky people who was on that show. very touchy.
Uploaded 12 years ago and I just know today this happenned??!!!! Thank you so much for this, THE scene from one of my favorite movie. I watched it in my teenage room again again again and again on VHS until it was impossible to watch because tape was destroyed. Of course I bought it on DVD then bluray, but this still gives me chills of me using play and rewind when I was 18
Omg.... this is awesome. I was just a kid first time I saw this. Had a William Finley fan club and everything. So good to see these guys!!!!! Gives me chills!!! I was so in love with Swan❤️
That's the first time I heard of a Finley/Phantom/Winslow Leach fan club. Its heartwarming to know a pretty gal like you felt so passionately about the underrated After. His character sure was doomed to be the ultimate looser in life and the fact that touched you makes the world seem brighter and warms my heart.I should have a fan club too !!
Hey,ya really want to meet SWAN ?!! It can be arranged but first ya got to audition with Me upstairs in the waiting room !! And if ya do real good there's the technicality of sighning a little"Contract" and then ya get to meet SWAN !! I think He will like You...!
Hi everyone ...there was very little rehearsal here for the Undead with the Phantom live band... it was a magical evening, so incredible and I can't believe how many views this video has garnered! Winnipeg loves you all, except for the 27 goofs who took the time to watch it and then give it a thumbs down LOL
Such a shame they didn't enjoy themselves ;-) I'm in Toronto and I never thought I'd say this, but, oh how I envy those lucky bastards in Winnipeg! One of my all-time fave movies, love it so much. Great clip for us Phantom fans, thanks so much for posting!
Fun Fact...Peter Elbling who sings this song was also the lead singer from the WKRP in Cincinnati episode Scum of the Earth from that series first season.
I first saw Phantom on late night teevee when I was like 12 and loved it. Only many years later did I find out that this film was a hit in my hometown of Winnipeg (and Paris France). wish I could have been at this celebration.
I was 13 when I saw this movie at my hometown theatre. I loved it ,and saw it a few more times after that. I'm so excited to learn it now has a cult following. I had no idea, omg...so much fun, where have I been?
Classic! They sounded great still. But misses those famous blood curdling screams! Say what you will about 'Careful With That Axe Eugene' - but the best screams of all were in this song on the movie version.
Wooow great😀 cant believe, the original staff 😀 as i was a child in the 80s i saw phantom of the paradise for first time on tv. Since that time this movie is one of my absolute favorites ✌🤩☺😍
Wow! Glad I just stumbled on this! Saw the movie in the '70's and the soundtrack really stuck in my mind. Paul Williams and the rest of the cast did and still do such wonderful work. Thanks!
amazing went to both phantom paloozas the first with just bill finley and gerrit graham then the 2nd one where everyone from the cast except philbin who passed away, both were amazing and we should do another since they were such huge successes
These guys have been in my life since I first saw and became obsessed with this movie in the 5th grade. I love that they are still being recognized to this day!
only rey kennedy sang beefs song life at last the rest of the films songs were sung by the actors, while filming beefs shower scene however paul williams was watching him doing his scene singing and then he wondered why they had this other guy sing when gerrit graham can sing just as well, however they couldnt go back and re shoot it,
SO wish I could have been there!!! This was more thrilling than seeing The Time Warp live at the conventions by the original Riff Raff, Magenta & Columbia!!!!
While the Undead back up singers seemed a bit subdued, Mr. Oblong owned the song in this performance. Mr. Beef did great, as well. R.I.P. Winslow Leach.
Great to see these guys again! I'd like to see now a band which mocks all the rock stereotypes from late 70s to present, by doing their own songs, and most of them even better than the bands they parody (must have a Paul Williams too)
I superliked Phantom of the Paradise, I superliked the casting, and I superliked the music. Rest in Peace William Finley. I wish I could see your phantom. Trust me...
Well, Graham did do his own singing in the movie. Around Swans gold record desk, and in the shower that was all him. :D Thanks Swan Archives for that little bite of info.
Ya,that's true all true !! And some say he didn't really die when he was electrocuted and burst into flames becouse he sold his soul to SWAN !! I hear he has been seen performing in Winnipeg Canada many times at some dark homage to SWAN !!
not offended i went to both phantom paloozas and heard from the cast themselfs and paul williams say exactly what i said that only beefs song was the only one that wasnt sung by a cast mate
@010681luis Dude, I am from Soyapango and i bet you there are many Salvadoreans taht love this movie, I still think that it is a master peace. I have the Dvd too lol.
tremenda pelicula la mejor que he visto en años... la alianza paul williams y brian de palma es genio y talento....increible pensar que swan el malvado es el creador de toda la banda sonora de este film de culto.
There is only one BEEF and that's the real deal ! AKA actor Garret Graham who ever since has played many roles, even on STAR TREK and probably is still in demand. But if ya mean the voice,I believe it was sung by a professional singer on the soundtrxck/Album.But Garret does a great job doing it in live performances and NO he doesn't talk that way naturally and isnt so Flamingly Fabulouse.Thats why most people have seen him play different roles but fail to recognize him as his most famous character.Almost going on fifty years now and I think he just still might revise BEEF again or hope so becouse like the JUICY FRUITS start the film singing "We'll remember you forever....!"
I know I'm just being picky here, but the first song "Goodbye Eddie Goodbye" had to be lip synced, because no ordinary man can hit that high note. And when the phantom played Faust, that was lip synced because it was Paul Williams' voice, and I do believe reading that the original Faust was lip-synced too, if you look close at Winslow's mouth, you can tell it's off. But then again, that's me just being a picky "know it all". I apologize if I have offended you, I didn't mean to.
One of the greatest soundtracks to any movie ever made in my opinion.
Yes!

He does the rooster thing with his hand on his head too!!

I think the audience does the screams in this one but it just doesn't get picked up by the microphones as well
Looks like Garrit Graham finally got to sing! Ray Kennedy did the singing in the movie.
