    This film is terribly underrated and underappreciated. It has a solid message ( a couple of them, really) which are not bludgeoned over your head. For my money it is eminently more watchable than "Frozen".

    I cried in the theaters for Brave during this song and the ending. The soundtrack to this movie as well as the animation is so underrated. It all goes perfectly with the Scottish feel of it. The ending of the movie is so relatable to me, which is funny because Merida is usually considered one of the least relatable princesses but I relate to her the most. The ending of this movie where they played back this song... does anybody else love Merida as much as I do? Because I really, *really* love her!

    • @MindySaini
      @MindySaini 10 лет назад +58

      For me she's relatable because of the mother and daughter relationship. It doesn't matter how matter quarrels you have with each other, there is always that undying love and bond that will forever be there. I got my Mum to watch it with me...I cried my eyes out.

    I'm Scottish. During the highland clearances (1700s) the English drove the people from their land, they outlawed Gaelic and tartan and it was punishable by lengthy imprisonment. The English all but decimated the highland way of life. It was during the clearances that many Scots moved to Canada and America. Interest in our heritage, particularly in our mother tongue, is on the rise and more children are being taught Gaelic in school. I'm trying to learn it too. It's a beautiful language.

    I saw this movie with my mom when it came out, and I must say that this movie made me hug my mom for what felt like hours and told her, "Thank you so much for never giving up on me, and that you never left me. We've both made mistakes in our lives, but we learned from those mistakes and we became better." I know that it sounds a little over dramatic, but my mom and I (along with my sister) had our struggles in our mother-daughter relationship, and it caused serious trust and social issues within us. Then, my mom invited me to go see this movie, and when this song started during the flashback, I started thinking about my childhood and the good memories with my mom, and I almost cried. I remembered when I was little I would always watch my mom typing and was obsessed in how fast she could type, and when she went off the computer, I would go on and practice typing fast without looking--now I'm a pro at it =D. I remember when I would cry, I could always count on her to come up and just hug me tightly, and tell me that everything is going to be okay. I remember when she would sing me lullabies, and I would always help her clean without asking, because I was and still am a weirdo who thinks cleaning is so much fun lol. Anyways, I could go on about this, but I'll just cut it short. Remember the good stuff about your past, and leave behind the negative stuff (otherwise it's going to haunt you in your present/future life, and you will always feel that negative energy and hatred). Just think of the good memories, and just smile.

A movie that turned out to be so poignantly about the love and struggles between mom and daughter. So precious to me now. So much a part of the story of our family. We rewatch the film and remember it's lessons every year on her birthday. And I try not to turn into a bear as often and let her live life her way. And she tries to accept me, even if I do (turn into a bear sometimes).

And yes, we all "turn into bears" sometimes- but there's a reason that the oldest continuous symbol in human culture is of "Mother Bear"- from cultures across the world and since the beginning of time... Long have we admired that strong and fierce protectress.

    Whenever I hear this, I can go back to when I was a child. I would rarely see my cousins and my father's homeland. So when I did, I made sure to love every minute I could. I remember playing the recorder out in the courtyard, watching movies that were a bit too adult for me with cousin Gary, playing with their dog Harvey, and making sugar popcorn with Paula, Kelly, and Hannah. I also never knew how they got the scottish shortbread cookies in the room so early!
    I remember so many smiles, and so much respect amongst the family. I always cry from happiness.

    I was born and raised in Scotland, but moved to London when I was 10. Most of the family I have up there have passed away now, so there's little reason for me to return, but one day I will go and raise a family there. It's such a beautiful country for it's tiny size.
    My boyfriend is Irish and we go there regularly, but if I'm honest, Ireland is nowhere near as wild and stunning. I wont tell him that, though!

    I get all emotional because it reminds me of how my Mom's always there for me and my Dad too.
    When I was 4, people began to laugh at me, saying I'm chubby. I once cried and my Mom came. She told me "Ignore what others call you, because it's their mouth, not yours." Now, I proved them wrong.
    And when I was a kid, my Dad would always laugh at my horrible jokes. Now, I'm the one who's laughing at his horrible jokes

    when I was younger, I didn't understand any movies I watched but just watch them and later watched them out of nostalgia and now that I'm older understanding the movie brings me even more nostalgia
    This movie is about a toxic bond between a mother and daughter then later turned into a curse and had to work together to find a solution to fix Merida's mistake that affected both of them in the process. After her mistake they both worked together to flee the castle with the Lords destine to kill the mother who has turned into a bear. After fleeing they found the solution to Merida's mistake where more time-consuming obstacles came in leading to her mother losing her humanity temporary in which the mother gets discovered by the castle fleeing while being chased. later a vicious attack between a bear without a human consciousness and human consciousness leading to a death battle.
    later the mother and daughter bond with each other and break the curse building a bond with the Lords and each other.

    Wonderful movie! They need to do a movie like this set in Ireland. That would be fun to see. Sadly most people are more into the more avante garde countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Egypt, India, Africa, etc. Very few people are into Celtic stuff. I have heard it from many that Ireland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I have ancestral lineage there and Britain if someone gave me my choice of what country I was to go to it would be Ireland first then England hands down over those other countries. But that's just me. Everyone is different.
