I just got finished doing this and putting on the steering column assembly was 70% of the time spent doing this job. The coupler replacement took like 1 hour doing everything up to putting back the assembly.
Watched many hour long videos to do this and they were way over complicated Your 16 minute video was too the point and made the job so easy, I even cut my finger in the same place as you… lol Job completed in under 2 hours Thanks for the help
Thanx; a very helpful tutorial! 😁 I had the steering column tilt somehow come unlocked, which was very exciting when I pulled the wheel forward and it and the upper column came off! 😂Glad I had the wheels straight, so it was easy to reposition properly when I slid it back on. On reassembly, I had a helper lift up on the steering wheel while I was underneath putting in the big bolt, and it wasn't difficult. About a two hour job.
This video was so helpful. Seems you really know your stuff with these cars. Have a question that I can't find an answer for anywhere. I recently acquired a 2010 Elantra, dashboard lights are connected to right taillight, and the fuse kept blowing out. Brought it in for recalls. One had something to do with moisture in the fuse box, I think. One was an undercoat, and one was for the EPS. Then everything was working fine. Out of the blue, my key fob doesn't work, and that same fuse keeps blowing as soon as i hit the lights on. Have you ever seen that before? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, and I love the channel.
My local mechanic said I needed a lower shaft and the this rubber part to fix my steering wheel from making a clicking sound, and i got the car back with the steering wheel crooked.. going back Monday to get everything fixed..
Its still wise too, ive done quite alot of them at my job of 15 years and good rule or tumb is practicing safety, remember your dealing with an air bag near ya lol @SEsGarage
Hey I have a question, I have a 2012 Kia Optima and my power steering quit working and EPS light and Traction Control light both are on and it keep blowing a fuse under the dash in the fuse panel box to the left of the steering wheel. Do you have any clue what the problem might be?
Would this coupler going out cause a high speed wobble? All my steering components are good according to the mechanic, but I do have this clunky steering wheel.
It’s an acquired talent! I’ve done more of these than I can shake a stick at. Make sure your steering wheel isn’t locked, this can make aligning the column quite a bit harder
The elantra was unchanged from 2011-2016 so this video will cover 6 model years of the elantra. The forte was roughly 2012-2017. And the Sonata is VERY similar from 2011-2014 so to reach more viewers and help more people, I left the year out as this video will help with MANY vehicles. I’m sorry you feel that way
You made that look easy. Gonna take me over an hour for sure. Very impressive.
Thanks 👍

i have a 2013 Elantra GT. the dealer said my model is not covered in this TSB but the sedan is.
This is the exact problem I'm having. Just replaced the rear calipers, rotors, and pads yesterday. This is the next project.

Life Saver. Thank you
1st thing to do is disconnect negative battery terminal. Carry on…….
While you technically are correct, I’ve done HUNDREDS of these without disconnecting the battery

Did this on a 12 Elantra and now key won’t turn at all any suggestions??
$2 part, $400 labor lol. It's good d to be a tech.
Question on the wires. Are they easy to mix up or does each one only fit the connector it came out of? Could you plug one into the wrong port?
They will only go in one way! Nice and easy
@@SEsGarage thats exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks
stering wheel with upper column came off and when i put back, it is now croocked. how to fix it?
Hello, I did it but the steering wheel is a little to one side, I don't stay upright, what can I do?

It would not
I can't get my bottom two bolts back on to hold the steering column 😢 and advice and why it won't line up
Did you align the hook into the dash support first?
WHY DOES EVERYONES STEERING COLUMN GO RIGHT IN IVE BEEN AT THIS FOR AN HOUR AND IT WONT GO BACK

Perfection ❤️🔥💯💯💯
Thanks
These steps are almost identical for the Elantra Touring. There are a few more steps but basically the same
Correct. That body style elantra it’s actually easier to remove the column from the car completely to replace the bushing
There’s a 14 mm right here (violently shakes camera)
Sometimes it’s rather hard recording one handed while laying on your back haha
The video is not good, because you don't put the year of your car in the tittle, so is not worth it. is not my car. every car is different. Thumb down

Helped me 🙃
@@SEsGaragethis issue was fixed in 2015 for the Elantra at least. They have different style of coupling.
You’re dumb
