Zone 9a (Houston), I only ever see the solid white varieties -- but those do naturalize readily. These usually bloom from mid January to early February. We have a super short season from spring ephemerals. Tulips aren't even really a thing unless the City plants them, and they plant them as individual plants already at color crack. We do have a great cool flower season, which spans from October to early April.
Im NJ zone 7a. Two years ago I bought 50 delnasugh daffodils. I wasn't sure but I wanted a daffodil to complement my ice follies. I've fallen in love with them to the point where I've placed an order for 100 of them as well as 100 of the ice valleys to have all over the yard so whatever I plan a nice follie I'm putting a delnasugh daffodil!!!! I also have cheerfulness their tiny but they smell so lovely. I have some topsy-turvy, dutch master. Also a blend called starry night. All of all my daffodils I get from Colorblends.
You have such a beautiful garden it looks so peaceful wonderful place to just grab a cup of tea and just sit and enjoy the beauty you have created 🇨🇦🦋🐝🐌
Grace 😆😆. Just needed a quick kiss. Oh yes, beautiful daffodils! My favourites this year are Orange Juice and Acropolis, both new that I planted last year. I’ve definitely added some new ones to look for to plant this fall.
I’ve seen so many pollinators making use of my daffodils this year, which has brought me so much joy! I’m guessing maybe because I have so many, they are more attractive and worth the stop off.
wow, Wow, WOW! Your garden is gorgeous, spring is the best and daffodils are amazing! After 40 years of gardening, I don’t think I will ever plant another tulip in the the garden (zone 6a) - just not worth it. Will still force for the house. Daffs and the small bulbs just keep on giving - year after year, more and more.
Your garden is looking so beautiful and love these daffodils! Because of your influence, my husband and I spent a few days in Chadds Ford and visited Longwood. We were amazed at how beautiful the whole property is and especially loved the spring bulbs. Thanks to your tour, I was able to see some of the tulips that were fading in their prime. No problem though because a few varieties were still looking gorgeous. We were astonished at all the work and beauty in the conservatory. Erin (The Impatient Gardener) loves Chanticleer so we visited that as well and loved it's intimacy and more relaxed structure. Unfortunately, Winterthur is closed on Mondays and I didn't do a very good job planning that one. 🙄 Love Gracie's photo bomb!
those are amazing. Here in Maine mine are just coming out. struggle with deer here so tulips are a no go for me. Will try and plant more Daffodils this fall. thanks for sharing. love your dog
If you want something vibrant, try Banana Split or Tahiti. Sherbourne is indeed a great late season daff -- mine are going strong now (Zone 6b Hudson Valley). Jetfire is a very reliable earlier daff in my garden (shorter). Also, can one ever have enough Tête-à-tête? They are too small for cutting but they naturalize so well and are the first to bloom in my garden so provide very welcome cheer. Cassatta is beautiful but did not work well for me in my naturalizing areas-- probably better in a garden bed. I've planted many daffs in the last two years on my new property and over the winter I was thinking maybe I had enough and should concentrate elsewhere. Then came spring, and now of course I am ordering more. Thanks for showing us the varieties you love -- I am definitely going to try some.
beautiful, love the video. would like to see more of your arrangements and how you do them. that one is amazing that you done for easter . thank you !!!
Been in my condo 6 years in November my daffodils were scattered all over. I dug them up make a big clump. They are the tiny ones, I dug out a lot that were growing poorly. Put in hearty Hibiscus. One was rated my zone 6 3 others colder zones. They wake up about middle of May. Grew Violas first time I have them growing all over the yard. With petunias I'm nursing lots of petunias.
Love the all also like the first one tho. Want to get more later blooming ones for my zone 5 Indiana garden have snowflakes blowing now with the white one
The daffodils are all beautiful. My favorite is the peach center, gorgeous. I always love your videos. You always bring happiness to many! Your dog getting kisses, love!!
Beautiful!!! I had to laugh or cry when you asked which daffodil you liked in your garden. I’m sad to say where I live 3b/4a nothing is up, still some ice in areas of my garden. Daffs usually show up in mid May to June here. I live through all of you down south, such gorgeous blooms!
I am obsessed with daffodils too. I have some of those late season varieties and most are so fragrant! Your garden is so lovely. Love the kiss from sweet Grace❤too.
Oh Danielle your Daffodils are absolutely beautiful. There is something about Daffodils that make me Smile. Yes I agree they would be gorgeous in a Bouquet. Your Flowers are amazing. Thank you for sharing the names with us. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed evening and stay safe my dear and Special Friend. Danielle where about do you live in Pennsylvania? I live in Williamstown New Jersey. But my granddaughter lives in Conshohocken Pennsylvania. Thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Wonderful varieties! My 4 favorites are: Tete Boucle, a small vibrant multi petal yellow bundle of joy. Dancing Moonlight, a pale yellow large daffodil with big flowers. Fragrant Spring, a white and apricot double flower, planted near my patio for obvious reasons. Sir Winston Churchill, multi flowering, multi petal white with orange/peach center.
hahaha Grace stole the show!! You have a beautiful selection of daffodils in your garden. It's hard to choose which ones to plant when you see all the different varieties. It's worth blowing the budget when you just can't decide which ones you want to add to your garden. I loved seeing this bright cheerful video, Thanks for sharing it with us. 😍
Have you tried Stainless? It is a gorgeous LARGE ivory bloom that has a long life here in Richmond, VA. I ordered it for 2 years and is a definite favorite. A real show stopper in my garden.
Narcissus (Daffodils) are my favorite! Pest proof, permanent, hardy, multiply freely, historic, fragrant, cheerful early spring bloomers. I've searched for the most fragrant varieties & buy nearly all of mine from Old House Gardens. They specialize in heirloom bulbs & hard to find varieties, some pre-1600's! (They have an online catalog if interested.) Some favorites are: Geranium (orange cup/white petals, mult-flowered stems, highly scented 18-20";) Louise de Coligny daffodil (apricot cup/white petals, fragrant 18-20"); and the shorter, classic pheasant’s eye daffodil (red rimmed/shallow yellow cup with white petals.) Of course I have many more which extend the season on either end.
I love the avalanche one. I need some. I planted a lot last season and I am really reaping the benefits of that now. That is really a gorgeous handful of flowers!
Great videos of the season of these beauties!! I love that you broke it down to early, mid and late blooming varieties, so helpful. Thank you so much for your content 🌸
Beautiful spring blooms! I am very happy with my Falconet (very fragrant), Golden Echo, and Sweetness daffodils. They all bloomed for 3+ weeks and lasted over a week in the vase.
I planted a bunch of narcissus varieties last year and am loving them with all the different colorings and forms. Had Ice King blooming first in my garden, and it was such a pretty sight to kick off the season.
Forgot to add, is it possible to have the name of these narcissus varieties in text / caption when showing them. Sorry it'd be more editing work, but really would love to get the name so we could potentially source them from the local bulb retailers.
I am loving daffodils too, just planted some last year, but definitely want to plant more variety…last year my neighbor gave me about 75 bulbs so I don’t know what kind they are. But they were such a surprise this spring!
Daffodils are my purple passion. We grow over a thousand on our one acre property, 15 varieties so far. But every year, I order at least 3 new varieties. I love the wide variety and that they naturalize so easily. We've been spreading them in our neighborhood. We'd like their joy to spread everywhere! My favorite daffodil this year is Split Cornona Cassata! It is so elegant! I love your Lemon Beauty and Sherbourne--I don't have those yet. I grow Dutch Master, Salome, Tahiti, Cheerfulness (white and yellow varieties--they are my favorite for scent--they smell like jasmine) Winston Churchill, Cotinga, White Lion, Rose of May, Stainless, Thalia, Poeticus, Split Corona Cassata, Split Corona Apricot Whirl, Silver Bells, and Delnashaugh. My goal is to have daffodils from 10 of their 13 divisions. I just need 2 more divisions--but my favorite are doubles. I've also started getting some heirloom varieties. Silver Bells is a 1604 variety!! I'm thrilled to have that one! Sherbourne looks like a real winner! I'll have to jot that one down for the fall! I am so addicted to daffies--and I love it that way!
I also love daffodils! Love all your varieties ❤. I have delnashaugh, mount hood, thalia and Ice king and love them all! One that i received by mistake and was really happy about is Pipit! It is beautiful! Last year i added Pink Charm, Tahiti and Sunnyside up which i can’t wait to see (zone 4 in Nb, canada). For next year, i have already pre-ordered yellow cheerfulness, blushing lady and night life! There are so many different ones and it is so much fun to add these to the garden 😊
As always your garden is stunning. I'm in zone 8b Florida I've tried 2 different kinds that I picked up from the Native Nursery and they said they do well here. I got one bloom. The instructions they gave said not for vase cutting but deadhead them leaving the stem.
I’m obsessed as well! I’ve added many more over the past few years and this spring I was able to finally reap the rewards of daffodils at every turn, en masse, for many weeks-just stunning. Two favorites are ‘Golden Echo’ and ‘Pipit’-they are almost exactly opposite of each other in their coloration. I have one blooming just now, don’t know the name, but it’s small, peach, and a multi-headed bloom. Possibly ‘Prosecco’. It’s so dainty. My all time favorite is the poeticus daffodil, and I can always find room for more! A favorite small early variety is ‘Rapture’-it looks like it’s fighting against winter wind, and prevailing! They actually do make me smile every time I look at them 🙂 and they catch the evening (back)light beautifully.
Beautiful! It's autumn here so it's strange to see the armfuls of spring flowers but it's always so nice to see them in your videos to get me through the cold months.
I love all the info you provide in your videos. I'm new to growing bulbs. What is the benefit of deadheading daffodils? Is it required for them to naturalize? Does it mean removing only the swollen tip after the bloom has faded? Many thanks! 😊
I love most daffodils but have a special fondness for those that have pink, peach or apricot in them. I am also partial to the smaller multi-stemmed narcissus. Lemon Star looks like one I’d like to grow as is Sherbourne but I have not had good luck with highly double daffs; the calyx sometimes does not open up to release the bloom. Have you experienced this? This year, I pulled it off some flowers that were having difficulty but they just didn’t perform as I thought they should based on photos I’ve seen. Your videos have prompted me to try some new varieties; can’t wait for the fall catalogs to arrive! 💛🤍🩷🧡 (Loved your reaction to all that affection from Grace. LOL!) 🐾♥️
I'm obsessed with daffodils too! I grew almost all of the varieties that you grew. I'm in NC in zone 7b, and most of the daffodils have already come and gone, except the late spring bloomers which are still looking beautiful! I love that they naturalize so readily!
I picked up a bag of daffodil bulbs last year on clearance at Lidl - so glad you shared these varieties today, because now I know they’re Sherbornes. They were very late to bloom in our area (zone 7) but they are so full and beautiful. I love the tiny white spots on the tips of each petal.
Nice! I got a couple mixed bags at Home Depot in JANUARY this year, 75% off. A lot of them turned out to be identical, with a few that were interesting. A lot of plain yellow trumpets, but that is okay it still is nice to have flowers to cut and be cheery. I found the best bulbs come from nurseries with a name on them though here.
Hello Danielle, thanks for your videos, you are very inspirative, hard working, kind. I adore you for sharing your life in the garden with me. I also love daffodils/narcissus. I grow more than 70 cultivars /all groups/types/ in my garden. I love them all :) I could speak hours about them :) Now can I share with you and "pay back" to you - I hope, you will like it :) White double - Obdam, Acropolis /with very little orange petals inside/, White medal /biggest and tallest beautiful beautiful/ are awesome, lovely - I always smile, when I see them :) Yellow double - Dick wilden, Golden ducat are very nice, Sweet pomponett is gorgeous. Double daff´s with two colors like - white/yellow, white/peach, white/orange, ...this year I have some new ones - and they took my breath away - Gay tabor and Great leap - very good cultivars - big big flower and very sturdy solid stem, middle lenght. And of couse Tahiti, White lion, Sweet desire, Replete, Double Fashion - simmilar to Tahiti, Delnasaugh, Petit four, Ice King are fantastic :) The little one - short and small flower are very cute - like - Minnow, Rip van Winkle, Tete a tete, Tete bouncle - my cheery little cushie sun, Hawera - really the smallest one, and bulbocodium White peticoat and Golden bells are really special shaped flowers. Very frangrant and on one stem more flowers - Martinette, Hillstar - veeery pretty, love them!, Bella estrella - you will love it!!! Blushing lady - my new one - is superb - soft yellow outside petals with soft apricot trumpet. And the classic - Cheerfulness, Sir Winston Churchill, Bridal Crown, Victoria von dem Busche, Papilon blanc. And of course all the middle short - small ones flower - with small trumpet, or crown - Jetfire, Pipit, Thalia, Jack Snipe, Pueblo, Iwona. Most atractive, eye cathing, and very delightful are split corona/butterfly narcissus - last spring I loved longlasting - one month flowering Apricot whirl - big big beautiful white-creamy outside petals and inside this awesome apricot curly corona split petals - must have daff!!! and the second one was Sunny Girfriend - you will love it - everybody came closer and made a picture - google it, you will love it! :) It flowered one month too. And this spring they came back reliably and multiplied :) And on the white/yellow color are my absolutely beloved - Chanterelle and Casatta - I have no enough time now to sing about them! :) This spring I had new one, and I really was amazed by them, really. I tried 4 years to buy Colblanc - always bought it in fall, but never flowered out the right one cultivar - first one it was Papilon Blanc - nice one, but....second one was Changing colors - also one of my favourite, but it never was Colblanc. This spring it was the right one, and I can not be happier :) It is uniqe to me, like wedding, magestic. I growed it together with Shrike - it is soooooo pretty!!! Must have!!!! and together with Delnasaugh. It is BIG TRIO :) And the new one to me was this spring also Cum laude - really a stunner!!! it was a delight to look at it. And the same yellow/yellow Flyer daff - awesome big flower curly split corona one. And very special to me this spring was Art design narcissus - no one is like this one/beautiful double trumpet/; Geneve - similar to Mount hood - but better :); Precocious narcissus??? the most pink/red crown with big creamy outside petals - stunner - must have one :); British gamble - one of the biggest trumpet beauty :); and really nice one - Alexis Beauty - soft yellow/apricot trumpet one - love it! :) There is something about narcissus/daffodils. I would say - JOY :) Thousands of pictures are avaliable :) Happy Gardening!!! :)
I share your obsession. And since my mid season daffs just started blooming its fun to get a sneak peak of whats to come. Thanks for sharing your love with us! Since you like Sherbourne so much, I recommend Double Beauty, similar form, scented, and an early bloomer.
Beautiful spring Narcissus ( my great-grandmother's name) Can you tell me about the wood plank walking path you have there? I'm wanting to try something similar. Can it stay there all winter long?
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Those solid frilly yellow ones are amazing. I made my our fragrance in my head, (sweet butterscotch) lol. Thank you for your time and enthusiasm. (Mine too)
I am already looking through the catalogues to plant more in the fall. Not sure if I have a favorite, but today am loving Gay Tabor, Bridal Crown, Sir Winston Churchill. You are always inspiring me!
Correction: Banana Splash not Banana Split! I can't keep track of the names of all the cultivars but I just looked back at my Colorblends order from last year.
Gorgeous! I can’t remember the names of mine, but over the years I’ve planted a lot. Uni, in my rocky dry hillside they don’t naturalize so they disappear after a few years. How do you spell the daffodil you called sherbourne?
I’m in zone 9 and I planted a variety called Pride of Lion. It’s beautiful. A very bright yellow with a very bright orange center. These have been naturalizing very well and bloom a long time.
Wonderful selection of daffodils! I didn't grow them this year but I definitely will be planting some this fall! Grace is so cute, she couldn't pass by you without giving you a kiss! I had a quick question, I was given some paperwhites at Christmas, they bloomed in January and I have the foliage in a pot inside but can you advise on what to do with them so I can keep them going and maybe bloom by the holidays? Thanks!
I've never planted daffodils but this year I have a new appreciation for them. I'm in MI 6a/b - wondering if you have any problems with squirrels digging them up? They really go after my tulips so I'm concerned not to provide more 'food' for the squirrels but instead would love to see this beautiful yellow explosion in my landscape too. Thank you, Danielle.
Beautiful daffodils! Thank you for sharing 😊
Love daffodils, thanks Danielle! 🌷💚🙃
Beautiful daffodils. Thank you for sharing. I’m excited to try some of those varieties in my garden.
Can you do a video on what you plant over your tulip and daffodil bulbs once they die back?
So beautiful
And how you know where they are in the fall when you are planting something else. Thank you so much.
So beautiful! I love the big yellow one!
Gorgeous!!! 💕👌👏👍💕
Stunning Danielle 🍃🌺🍃
Gorgeous. I'm enjoying my daffs too.
What a beautiful bouquet 💙
Your daffodils are HUGE 😮😮😮. They're so beautiful
Stunning; absolutely stunning!
So beautifully daffodils flower😍😍😍
Just planted some new ones myself last fall... they are gorgeous, as are yours.
Loved this video! Already watched 5x! Will be looking for that peachy and bright yellow and white one.
Zone 9a (Houston), I only ever see the solid white varieties -- but those do naturalize readily. These usually bloom from mid January to early February.

Absolutely love Papillon Blanc, soft creamy white and smells wonderful!!

I’m caught the daffodil bug thanks to your video thanks for another uplifting video encluding Gracie.
Love your videos. I’ve learned so much from you.
wow, Wow, WOW! Your garden is gorgeous, spring is the best and daffodils are amazing! After 40 years of gardening, I don’t think I will ever plant another tulip in the the garden (zone 6a) - just not worth it. Will still force for the house. One can never have too many daffodils in my opinion. We’re in 7b and Avalanche does well here too.
I love all. But my fav is that vibrant yellow.thanks danille
Your daffodils always take my breath away and motivate me to plant more. Hope you have a blessed day! 🍃💛🍃
The daffodils are all beautiful. My favorite is the peach center, gorgeous. I always love your videos. You always bring happiness to many! Your dog getting kisses, love!!
Wonderful,Danielle. The bright yellow spoke to me after 6 months of winter. Thank you 💐

OMG. I absolutely love your driveway garden! The daffodils are so beautiful.

Love the yellow hat!
Grace had to come by and give you a kiss , Love it ! Flowers & Dogs my most two favorite things ! Daffodils can't have enough !
Really digging my Narcissis Obdam this year!!

Are you willing to share where you purchase your daffodils?
I order mine from Brent & Becky Bulbs, Longfield Gardens, and John Scheeper's Bulbs.
Such beautiful varieties! I’m so lacking in late blooming daffs. Need to add more of those! Thanks for sharing all these beauties with us! 💛🤍
Just gorgeous! I’m definitely obsessed with daffodils as well :-) you have some beautiful varieties
Oh my gosh you a vision in daffodils!!!! We may have to try the avalanche here in zone 8NC. Thank you!!

Beautiful!
💛🤍🩷🧡
(Loved your reaction to all that affection from Grace.
I love them all :) I could speak hours about them :) Now can I share with you and "pay back" to you - I hope, you will like it :)
White double - Obdam, Acropolis /with very little orange petals inside/, White medal /biggest and tallest beautiful beautiful/ are awesome, lovely - I always smile, when I see them :)
Yellow double - Dick wilden, Golden ducat are very nice, Sweet pomponett is gorgeous.
Double daff´s with two colors like - white/yellow, white/peach, white/orange, ...this year I have some new ones - and they took my breath away - Gay tabor and Great leap - very good cultivars - big big flower and very sturdy solid stem, middle lenght.
And of couse Tahiti, White lion, Sweet desire, Replete, Double Fashion - simmilar to Tahiti, Delnasaugh, Petit four, Ice King are fantastic :)
The little one - short and small flower are very cute - like - Minnow, Rip van Winkle, Tete a tete, Tete bouncle - my cheery little cushie sun, Hawera - really the smallest one, and bulbocodium White peticoat and Golden bells are really special shaped flowers.
And this spring they came back reliably and multiplied :)
And on the white/yellow color are my absolutely beloved - Chanterelle and Casatta - I have no enough time now to sing about them! :)
This spring I had new one, and I really was amazed by them, really. It is BIG TRIO :)
And the new one to me was this spring also Cum laude - really a stunner!!! it was a delight to look at it.
There is something about narcissus/daffodils. I would say - JOY :) Thousands of pictures are avaliable :) Happy Gardening!!! :)
Oh, and basic info - Zone 6a, Middle Europe - Slovakia, Presov town :)
I share your obsession. And since my mid season daffs just started blooming its fun to get a sneak peak of whats to come. Thanks for sharing your love with us! Since you like Sherbourne so much, I recommend Double Beauty, similar form, scented, and an early bloomer.
Thank you! I will add it to my shopping list!
I’m about to plant my bulbs here in Melbourne! Wonder if I can find these varieties.
Correction: Banana Splash not Banana Split! I can't keep track of the names of all the cultivars but I just looked back at my Colorblends order from last year.
BEAUiful daffs, Daniele!! How do you spell the yellow daff. at the 4 min. marks - it's AWEsome!!! LOVIN' your garden(s) coloring up!!
I’ve got problems 😂
Just HAD to order two of these after this video!!
Fabulous information! Thank you Lynne!
I have a new obsession with daffodils as well. What tulips do you have the best luck naturalizing? Most of mine don't come back.
I driving to the states on Monday to purchase Bio Tone and garden tone. They are over $100.00 a bag here in southern ontario.
Thanks!
beautiful
I've never planted daffodils but this year I have a new appreciation for them. I'm in MI 6a/b - wondering if you have any problems with squirrels digging them up? They really go after my tulips so I'm concerned not to provide more 'food' for the squirrels but instead would love to see this beautiful yellow explosion in my landscape too. Thank you, Danielle.
