1 time when I was alighting from a B9TL, the BC closed the rear door on my face but luckily he noticed me and reopened the rear door. Therefor, bendies are in my favour as sometimes the elderly people goes to the 2nd floor, if they alight, they will walk slower than normal aged people. Double deckers are to be only used for CBD areas but all 4 operators should have bendies in their fleet. For the CBD services, they should mix bendies on peak hours and DDs for non-peak hours. Just mix both. + G-AS bus service 36 can be filled to the max similar to 858 and 53. LTA should retest DDs on airport-bound services where they only go the top instead going to the basement. LTA only tested DDs on 858 only 1 test! Just 1 test?! They could conducted it at least 3 times per week or per month. That's why I am on the bendy side.
For Changi Airport Double Deck buses are not effective because of the unidirectional travel flow and you can only enter 1 terminal from the departure drives, causing buses to make detours that’s why no DDs on Airport services
Double deck is for long distance routes for commuters to enjoy a longer ride on the upper deck, bendies are for easier disembarkment and convenience for a short commute
Compared to the double decks, bendy buses on Feeder services seem suitable for feeders in the North, in terms of boarding and alighting at bus stops. LTA should have purchased more since day one.
I'm on bendy side.I live in sembawang and service 859 even with double decks so crowded on lower deck and I have to alight at like 4 stops but I have to climb those stairs
At CAC Checkpoint, the security check procedures usually takes 3 mins max during peak hours and if SBST deploy bendies on the CAC svcs, the police officers would have to go through the trouble of squeezing through the crowd to check for passes.
I've seen Bus Service 901M in a 'crowded' situation before during my secondary school days since the introduction of the route. This is quite horrible with many commuters taking the bus during the morning peak hours even with the Double deck bus. But I kind of understood as to why LTA is now 'cease' to procure bendy buses and replace them with Double Deck buses (which includes 3 doors) instead. But however, between Double Deck and Articulated buses, I would choose Double Deck.
I think that double deckers or bendies will not be strictly DD or BD. As firstly, some routes will still need to have bendies as the conditions and also for trunk ask freeder. If someone does not want to go up but he is alighting after a few stops. This is why bendies are the win win for this. As bendies are faster and only have one floor. But double deckers need longer, as they have 2 levels and also sometimes people block the way etc etc. Double deckers are also met with challengers too. Such as Changi Airport and also Low bridges. But they are able to turn. Bendies on the other hand are able to pass through Low areas. But cannot go through tight corners.
I’m on the Bendies side. Ever since 912 lost their bendies and had B9TLs as their replacement, I was upset by the news. Bendy buses are much easier to board and disembark and traffic flow in the bus is MUCH smoother, it’s also safer because you don’t have to climb up/down any staircase while the bus is moving. If the LTA wanted more 3 door buses they should’ve gone for the bendies and not the MAN A95 3 Door, yeah the MAN A95 is nice and all but when it comes to practicality, the A24 is still able to carry more passengers than the MAN A95 3 door while having that third door. I’m sure there are other bendy buses which can navigate round tighter corners. LTA needs to see this.
Bendy buses. Capacity wise dd wins. But as you said bendy buses Is more better for feeder bus services as passengers would not want to climb up stairs if it less than 5-6 stops. We should continue to record evidence and show to LTA so they are able to understand better the importance of bendy buses in feeder services
Most 242 passengers demand more on quicker departures rather than fleet capacity. The elderly who take 242 regularly could not get a seat as some people are stubborn to give up and not many people use the upper deck on DDs, which are deployed irregularly on this svc
Absolutely no for short distance feeder cause you see almost empty at the upper deck..They should buy a few more bendy for feeder routes..Trunk which serve more than 8.5km per journey use DDs..
I felt that during peak hours, Bendy buses take a shorter to pick up passengers at a bus stop outside the train station. On the other hand, Double deckers take a longer time at the same stop as many people crammed at the lower deck of the bus as they are lazy to go up, I experienced this before, so I feel double-deckers are not fit to replace the bendies for feeder services, And I am on the bendies side
What i think buses should be use for Bendies: crowded short services/mrt shuttle Single decks: not crowded short services/shuttle Double decks: long distance, not so crowded
DDs: More scenic, Don't need to squeeze with Standing Passengers when on the upper deck Bendys: More People Would Move To The Rear Since There's a door at the back, Faster Flow Both SD and DD causes people to crowd at the rear door so it's easier to alight but, causing the rear to not fill up. Bendy's Wouldn't have this issue For 859, I think people would rather take 859A and 859SD compared to only 1 859 DD 😂
Back then when i used to live in Sembawang, i do not have to wait for actual 859 as there's 859A. Well, months after the bendies bye bye from its fleet
Yeah, now I wouldn't wait for 859 and just take 859A instead unless is a DD (Nobody would come up, therefore peaceful) . Only bad point is when 859A comes in 15 mins time, and have no choice but to squeeze in 859 😂. Still missed those bendies@@TIB1234T
The advantage for having me chosing bendy is that it doesnt need to waste too much time for crowd tho exit and enter Wheras the disadvantage is taking up much space. But if there were to be a election on chosing sides i would definitely chose bendy

That's why I am on the bendy side.
I like this comment👍🏻
LTA scholars think they’re too smart and most of them are ex-SBST bus fans

I also in the bendy side and I would maybe think that bus services 187 or 61 but svc 61 on weekdays and 187 on weekdays and a24 on weekends
At CAC Checkpoint, the security check procedures usually takes 3 mins max during peak hours and if SBST deploy bendies on the CAC svcs, the police officers would have to go through the trouble of squeezing through the crowd to check for passes.

Thats one and (almost) a half minute gone from the driver schedule

So I am not on either bendies or dd side. I am just standing in the middle
I'm on bendy side for feeder buses, and for certain trunk routes!!
Same
Same
At Woodlands Int this also happens for DD bussi
I’m on the Bendies side. Ever since 912 lost their bendies and had B9TLs as their replacement, I was upset by the news. I think the next thing is use 3 door DD wif 2 staircases as an alternative to BD on feeders
And not all feeder routes is friendly to 12.5m DDs

For me there are advantages and disadvantages

I think LTA doesn’t think bendies are effective. Hence they used 3-door double decks instead
What i think buses should be use for
Bendies: crowded short services/mrt shuttle
Single decks: not crowded short services/shuttle
Double decks: long distance, not so crowded
I'm on bendies Side
9:30 at that moment that TIB1234T realised SD is faster then the High capacity bus.
TIB1234T: What the f***
🤣🤣🤣
Correct what. Why must compare SD & DD for LOL
Ik but that part got me to crack and laugh🤣
DDs: More scenic, Don't need to squeeze with Standing Passengers when on the upper deck

In my opinion, I am on Bendy Side
Bendy buses can be 4 door mode too
I am someone into the bendy side
When there were habits on 859,there were no probs at all
To my thinking. This is not Hong Kong
TIB1234T DD Is Better Than Bendy Bus
bendy
Wrong... I am still for Double deck... I would scream from the front door to ask ppl to go up... Must need to educate ppl to go up....
