Lemme sum up what the “Toh Chee Hong” of buses is saying Even with rationalist bus svc one retains the route BPJ: *nothing* except a few minor connections with 972M but this is not working well at all DTL3: Only 66 was backed by 67 but 22 and 506 is a no(I ain’t taking 5 and transferring again, while 65 is only 1/8 of22) TEL3:162 became a scam route but got replaced with a pathetic 30 mins frequency 167 and off route 980. Only 75 and 121 managed to maintain its connections Out of these 3, only at most 3 svcs did fulfill the criteria but the rest?????? What a tragedy by Lame Transport Authority, hard to believe Chee Hong “talk cock Sing song” when he was the one part of the BPJ rationalisations at that time. This rate the LTA should be shut down and reformed, it’s absolutely disgusting how they are trying to push us into low capacity trains that definitely can’t survive on 5 or even 6 services being parallel to it. Looking at the thumbnail, I fear 61 might eventually be part of rationalisations as well when the bus demand is still pretty high for such parts of a route
Nice Video! I think that the authorities should consider a more thorough review of bus rationalisation, rather than focusing solely on expanding the MRT system. Since the MRT service can occasionally be unreliable, maintaining bus service alternatives would benefit commuters as it will provide them with more flexible and dependable transportation options.
What's even worse is that while the blue ribbon will spin it in a positive way when they spare routes, there is no stopping them trying to be passive aggressive by meddling with fleet deployments and frequencies. So while 65 is spared, this route is not only more prone to bunching due to its routing (without alternatives), there is a notable shift as more SD buses are being deployed just to strong-arm people to take the DTL (which I have to constantly emphasize the walking distance to some of these stations is way out of the given 400m acceptable range). Sadly, we know the cold, hard truth: nothing will change. As long as the blue ribbon remains at the mercy of bean counters who only see commuters by the amount of fares they generate, the populace will have to put up with more gaslighting, talking around or down to, or just outright disrespect if a nerve is touched.
The worse thing that comes after rationalisation is reduction of bus frequencies. That is the biggest downfall of the bus industry in Singapore. Even though there are alternatives, you have to wait 15-17 mins for the next bus. How to improve on bus services? Youre just making it worse. And forget about bringing in consultants on TV to justify the rationalisations when we ourselves find difficult to have a good commute.....
It was. They should have just extended it to the airport instead of truncating it to Serangoon MRT. The current routing doesn’t justify the higher express fares really

I have a video talking about the entire negotiation process between LTA bus planning league and SBS Transit regarding how to truncate the route before Woodleigh ITH opens. The reasons cited were express fare deterrence, On-Time Adherence resulting in slower rides and introduction of Service 46 along the eastern part of the route. 506's popularity and demand had already started dwindling over the years even before BCM kicked into effect (it was made worse after due to the aforementioned reasons), before DTL3 even opened. I think the LTA not enough money to spend more on buses as most of the money are spent on MRT LRT and changi airport terminal 5. So in order for the LTA to make it well spent on these they cut down on bus routes so that many people will use MRT and LRT. But in actual facts especially the MRT and LRT frequent faults and give funny and unbelievable reasons for the faults I can say buses are still a more reliable source of public transport.

I used to love 162, now after the rationalisation i hate it
After last train NSL from the city, theres like 4 more 162M that do help commuters into Bishan & AMK at least
