That guy who made that reddit post asking for her address, saying he would directly fly to south korea, and marry her/become her legal guardian to get her an american citizenship is such a creep. Even with good intentions how deranged do you have to be to think that your plan is feasible wtf
One last thing: her friends, family, and the social worker are, indeed, the only people who can help her simply because she would know them. She would trust them. If her brain is telling her that every stranger she meets are nefarious government agents wanting to inflict suffering and ruin on her, random knuckleheads like us are *the absolute last people* who should be trying to play hero for her. All we can do is hope that she gets the help she needs. Thanks again for the mental health awareness, Muta. You rock.
Her brain got a point tho.. How are you so sure that you're not a secret government agent or maybe all of us are just clones made by aliens and only chip chan is the only real being in this world?
Mudahar is always saying "leave it to the professionals" as if "professionals" are always the answer and the only possible people to complete whatever task he's talking about. Just because someone is considered a "professional" on paper does not mean that they actually know what they're doing. He always thinks "professionals" are the way to go. "Social workers and counselors and doctors" are the "only" ones who can help in these situations. Sure. It's amazing to see someone who seems so smart yet is so dumb to accept the generalization of "professionals" as fact. It is embarrassing to hear him saying such dumb shit like that
When I was in S. Korea, I spoke with some local friends about Chip-Chan. They were fully aware of her, and the online attention. I think it is important for me to share this whenever she is brought up, so this is what I was told- She has a 'support network', but she's a shut-in. Those that can be considered close to her (she does have family) find it difficult to check in on her, so just like everyone else- all they can do is watch, and there are people who watch her 24/7, and can react to something if it happens. It's a slow process. She has people who know her and care about her, but she's very troubled. This is a lady that has endured something bad, in some way- and it broke her mind. One person mentioned that she might have gotten a divorce, and if children were involved... it's quite common to see a family breadwinner (the father) have custody of the children... I'm sure you could imagine what that does to a mother, especially in a culture that emphasizes the importance of having children and places motherhood among the highest of honors (birth rates are currently dropping below sustainability in S. Korea, so having children is encouraged and children are treasured in their culture, the women will go nuts when they see a baby of any ethnicity). Her situation is very delicate. It requires nothing less than experienced professionals, and very few people are equipped to help her- in many cases, good intentions can actually cause more harm than good. She was known to have some minor skin blemishing/rashes before 2020, and some of the theories were that they were related to stress (I have personally known a few Asian women that will break out in hives if they get stressed out), but also because she may not be laundering her sheets and clothes (She wears/has worn the same things for several days in a row, I think). The people I spoke with said that the concern and compassion of others is admirable, and it is not lost on them... but it may be lost on her (at best). If she recovers- and it won't be easy or fast if she does- but when that time comes, I'm certain we will all be happy because we all want the best for her.
Thanks for sharing. This is gut-wrenching to see unfold when you know you can't do anything. Hoping something changes and she feels ready to get some help.
She probably does need sheets washed. Staying in them like that is no good for you. Wearing the same clothing as long as it doesnt look sullied, I have done that once at a hospital for about 2 weeks and had no issue there, so I have to wonder how much longer Chip is wearing her clothing compared to the sickly me. I genuinely think she may have some kind of autoimmune disease like psoriasis or something if she is so itchy and breaking out all the time like she is. Best of luck
I think you're right about stress causing the rashes. I get the exact same rashes from stress but it looks to me like she is irritating them after they pop up which, in her mental state, is a huge possibility.
Im glad that she is at least getting outside some times. That was always my biggest worry with her.... Ive been following her story for a few years now as well and wondered wtf happened to her. I hope the people closest to here are looking out for her.. This is so sad and worrying
I've been aware of Chip-chan for years and I really hope she gets the help and support she needs. I think a lot of people find out about her and go "ooo spooky/scary/weird" and don't realize how tragic and dire the situation is, and how much her condition has ruined her life and taken away from her the majority of her time on earth. I've noticed the internet (and especially in the "unexplained mystery" circles) has a habit these days of turning people with serious mental health conditions into a spectacle; it always happened but it feels so much more common over the last decade and it's depressing to see people who need genuine help labelled as a spooky mystery or something to be "explained".
I cannot speak about the situation in South Korea, but as a foreigner living in an Asian country (Japan), I can assure you that the "you are weak" mentality is 100% true. I suffered depression some years ago due to bullying at my old workplace, and when my lead found me crying she straight up told me "your heart is too weak." They seem to slowly be changing their minds (at least here) but having depression or any mental health issue, your workplace can deem you unfit to work, and you could be fired. Young people are more aware, but those in the seats of power are still the older generation who just tell you to "shut up and clench your teeth" I really, really hope Chipchan can get the help she rightfully deserves because being suffering like this for over two decades is something I do not wish for anyone.
contries of the future... pff my ass, a sinner asking to not sin, Asian countries do not have humans, but cogs of a machine, good wishes to those people

Thank for the words about the importance of mental health care, Muta. The more we openly talk about it, the less stigmatized it gets, and more people start seeking it. I hope Chip-Chan gets the help she needs. And to everyone out there who feels they need help but are too affraid of being branded crazy or weak: treating your mental health will only make you stronger and help you feel more stable. Take care, everyone!
My aunts had paranoid schizophrenia. The longer they go untreated and unsupported, the less effective drugs are on them. If someone goes 25-30 years with untreated delusions/hallucinations, you won't pull them back into a world we recognize as real. I don't think you can help someone process 30 or 40 years of lost history and time. You can mute the pain and aggression, but that's about it. As my aunt said to me when Bill Clinton was in his second term, "The President doing a good job, "Get right with Ike!"' That was Dwight Eisenhower's campaign slogan in the mid 1950s. She meant it sincerely.
It can also be embarrassing to accept that you have a problem, or maybe you're afraid of what others might think (I've been there myself). Which can lead to the person not seeking the help they need and letting their condition fester, something that I myself have done and it has destroyed my life. The only thing I can say is do not be afraid or embarrassed of getting help, the longer you wait the worse things will become and you might not be able to ever fully recover if you wait too long to get treatment.
Except we also forbid people from telling people "No" when they have mental health issues like gender dyphoria or even just "being on twitter too much". I always roll my eyes when people talk about " we need to do something about mental health" when the entire left is bowing down to a mass-delusion. If you're not willing to do something about a visbile issue, then how the fuck are you going to fix the more visible problems that some people have, and don't talk about. Maybe start with the nut-cases openly advocation for mutliating children who want to compel your speech.
TIL I’m 5 years older than Muta ANYWAYS every time I hear about Chip-chan, my heart breaks for her a little more. I’ve been in hospitals with people that paranoid. Even when mental healthcare is available, it seems next to impossible to help people suffering in this way because they don’t trust much if at all. And yeah that guy claiming to want to marry her is a creep. It’s also clear that someone in that state is unable to consent, it’s nothing less than predatory to see her like this and think “I’m gonna marry that girl.”
It’s so sad that she’s been living in constant paranoia since the 90’s. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it must be for someone like her to live like this for 20+ years. I feel so bad for her.
I've seen a friend of mine being taken by Paranoid Schizophrenia. She believes the mafia is watching her every step, and she's afraid of her own parents because she thinks they have malicious intent. She's very fond of me for whatever reason, but I've honestly become afraid of what she might be capable of doing, be it to herself or strangers, especially after she suddenly tried strangling my buddy with a cable. It's sad, she never seems relaxed, always on the edge. Suspicious of everyone and everything. I'm glad that the stigma around mental health is slowly burning out, at least in the western 1st world.
I think its also important to mention that the most essential step for Chip-chan's mental health is her coming to her own realizations about the reality of her situation. If people try to force her to see that there's no mind control device it's only gonna make things worse. Theres this old "joke" in psychology that goes essentially like "A doctor was told that there was a patient waiting for him in his office. The doctor walks in and tells the man waiting for him good morning, the man responds with, "Doctor you must be quiet! There's an FBI agent listening to us in the closet." The doctor walks over to the closet and asks, "well how did he get in? Did he walk in? Fly in? Teleport in?" The patient answers no to all. The doctor then rips open the closet showing nothing inside. The patient excitedly says, "Oh my god doctor! Thank you for opening my eyes! They *can* teleport!" If you have to open the door, you're telling them there is a possibility that there's an agent in the closet. But, hey what do I know I'm just some dumb RUclips commenter.
For a "dumb RUclips commenter", what you're saying isn't dumb. We cannot understand people who suffer from various issues that originate from the brain, and the worst is that just being careful is not going to help because maybe that was patient A, but patient B could believe there actually isn't an agent if you open the closet and you relieved them, patient C could think that maybe they were wrong about the agent being in the closet, but still believe that there definitely is one.
Thank you so much Muta. This is one of the worst epidemics in the world. I went through depression from the age of 6, major family loss, I am now 44. I was raised with the same outlook of mental medication and help from professionals as being taboo. Only now, looking back having gotten help for the last 4 almost 5 years can I see how much of my life was wasted feeling the depression, the negative voice in the back of my head. Now my days are filled with peace and contentment like I have never had before.
I remember when Muta made the original video about Chip Chan, damn I feel old. Between then and now I kinda kept going back to her channel and looking at all the videos and stuff, and I remember talking about a few of my friends about it and how sad it all is. One thing that interests me, is that how does she actually make money to buy food etc etc, since she must be streaming daily and she’s inside the same room for agesss, how is she paying for everything?- maybe she works from home or something like that. I can’t really imagine her being able to do a job, so perhaps people online give her money to help, or maybe her family does, if so- i wonder if they have tried helping her. Either way, it’s a really sad situation
It's either family, or SS/Disability/welfare. I dunno about South Korea, but Japan and other asian countries have very good SS/disability/welfare payments. It's how so many people can become shut ins and still be okay financially.
As a Korean/Canadian Citizen who lived in Korea for a number of years and someone who has worked in both the private and international education sector... I can say Korea has a big conformist society. Anyone who goes against the norms like people that have mental or physical issues are often ignored by people. The movies Parasite and the show squid game excellent commentaries of the real life situation of many... now image compounding that with people who have mental or physical issues being considered outcasts of society who are better to be kept "out of sight". This also applies to almost every step of society. In education teachers are often encouraged to sweep the 'bad' students aside and they're just allowed to sleep or do their own thing without worrying about giving them help or a proper education. When you go to hospitals you're often told "you have a problem because you're not normal, we can't help you. Please understand our unique situation." And when you go to parts of government often you'd be turned away if you're not "normal" to deal with.
Isn't Japan similar in this regard to both mental health and work/life balance as well? Because I saw some cases from Coffehouse's channel that involved heavily mentally ill people in Japan that just snapped, and I think one went and attacked a low security mental hospital (the former one of the person who did the crime). As different as those two (S. Korea and Japan) countries are they are very similar in how they are heavily conformist.
I don’t necessarily disagree with not focusing on the "bad" students in school. Elementary school in North America is so dumbed down to keep the bottom ends of classes afloat.
@@thequinlanshow3326 so, what do you do with kids who fall behind? I mean people who have good aspirations and goals but simply can’t grasp or get out of bad habits which lead to failure and set back. My sister suffered this badly during her middle school days
It frustrates me to hear "I'll talk some sense into them" - as if mental health is just a matter of having a good down to earth talk. You cannot talk someone out of a mental health issue any more than you could talk a cancer patient into remission. You can't reduce someone's blood pressure with a conversation, you can't cure illness by talking about it. Mental illness is not a lack of serious conversation. Aunt Sue got gout? Would you say, I'll fix it, I'll talk some sense into her. Of course not. However, if Aunt Sue got dementia, folks think they can talk her out of it.
A recommendation regarding these types of topics is a book called "Burnout Society by Byung-Chul Han" he's a south korean philosopher who lives in germany and also talks about things like the mapo bridge in seoul or how self exploitation and mantras like "yes we can" have more of a diabolical aspect that wears down anyone who tries to reach this fake freedom in an achievement oriented society which ignores mental health problems and creates tons of self generated compulsions in total until it's too late. There is also a youtube video of it with english subtitles as well for those who are allergic to books
@@NotFckingBen People unfortunately are feeding into her delusions, It's unlikely that anyone will help her with both the medical and psychological issues she's going through.
3:40 The first thing that drew my eye in reading that documentation, is the statement about the right foot being connected to the right side of the brain, which is erroneous, limb and body control is flipped, left for the right, right for the left. And, yeah, this is some seriously disturbing stuff, hope that lady gets some much needed help and soon.
Thank you so much for your empathetic and gentle approach to this subject. I experienced post partum psychosis and had symptoms similar to paranoid schizophrenia for around a year. Whenever I hear about situations like this, it terrifies me for them. Thank you for acknowledging how real her distress is and how real all this is for her. That is something so many people really do not grasp. I can’t imagine what it is like to spend most of a lifetime in this kind of constant distress. And yes, random people should not go intervene. Not only is that not going to accomplish anything but it could make things worse.
Completely forgot about Chip-Chan even existing on the platform. I've known people that have had paranoia and other mental illnesses linking off that and you can make some whacky things up, but believing it to be your own reality. The skin lesions/ulcers look pretty serious as well and can certainly cause Sepsis if the Cellulitis is left untreated.
Good gods! She definitely needs a friend to support her. I hope someone can get her the right help and soon. That condition sounds nasty. By Airmed I never knew such a thing existed.
I’m a mental health RN. Honestly I see stuff like this all the time and services available for those who are afflicted with some disorder that makes them lose in touch with reality is really sad because it is so limited in most communities and basically sets them up for failure. Hate seeing stuff like this. It’s even worse when it’s made into a spectacle and others try to take advantage of it.
I'm so thankful for the way you talk about mental health, sometimes it feels like everyone online either calls people crazy or schizo or they get super infantilizing about it. I wish more people would take this approach of being factual about the situation, while also not downplaying people's suffering, they way you talked about how real this must feel to her was absolutely the best approach because I feel people tend not to the think about how mental health can affect your thinking, especially those who've never experienced delusional thinking before.
thank you for the mental health talk, Muta. we need more and more people to see how important it is. back in my middle and high school days, i wish someone had told me these things. it would've made my life significantly better. i'm doing fine now, but i just wish i had more awareness of mental health issues. i felt so ashamed of isolating myself due to severe anxiety. thanks Muta!
I suffer paranoia that can get pretty bad with stress to the point of hallucinations. And her case always fascinated me. It'd take nothing for any person but especially someone already depressed and sick to get their life this badly fucked. I've always thought this P character is probably a social worker or even a family member (or members) that checks on her or used to at least and her mind constructed this character out of them.
I can agree that mental health services aren't great, I suffer from severe depression and the services where I am are very very lacking even after looking for help the most found would be the support lines to call. Hopefully things get better around the world so less people suffer and more get help
I hope she will be alright, and yeah, mental help is heavily stigmatized. The dramatizing e-people who use mental illness as a defense mechanism or personality trait, are not really helping to get the right attention to it either.
@@riffcrypt8438 Ya its why i dont take anybody with those problems seriously. Those are not true issues like hunger, homelesssness starvation ect. That is a problem that can only happen in a nation as soft as america.
@@keonkla I understand where you're coming from, I really do, it's a travesty to see mental illness being wielded as an argumentative tool. But context matters. Overgeneralisations such as "I won't take anyone with mental issues seriously" are not helping the people who actually suffer from mental issues, or people that are afraid / reluctant to seek out help when they severely require it. (such as chip-chan) Overgeneralisations are precisely what led to these self-diagnosing e-teens and the general stigmatisation of therapy and psychology. Don't be cruel, or you may one day find your complete lack of empathy to be the mental illness to call your own.
A relative went through this. It began with her being hacked. I believe she was so shocked by this that it triggered a schizo paranoia psychotic break. The story changed from hacking to a device being used on her. After seeing a medical doctor, she took meds that diabetics take for the shocks they sometimes get. After that resolved, it wasn't about the "device" anymore. She refused to seek professional help, and doesn't believe her mind is betraying her. But I've worked in healthcare, and every doc and nurse I know replied schizo paranoia to the symptoms I gave.
Chip has all classic signs of schizophrenia.BUTT like Muta said, living in SK does not help. But no, one with mental health issues (in your average family) isn't talked about/being taken serious(ly). But from what I've learned from various sources, sometimes you need to let it play out.
heavily disagree. that's just the stigma and stereotype given by the media. false beliefs are common accross several mental health disorders. paranoid schizophrenia or mania type schizophrenia may be two of them, but, as a whole, schizophrenia isn't about that. source: i'm schizophrenic, lost 10 years in and out of looney bins and on meds. only once have i met another schizophrenic who had false beliefs and it wasn't paranoid type. from experience, paranoia is far more common amongst other types of disorders.
Hey Muda. Real talk, I wanna thank you for the way you approached this video. Mental health is an important subject, and I feel like you made the best of this situation by teaching your viewers how important it is to seek help, and to give help to those in need. Anyway, love your vids man!
I think what makes it worse for people to open up and seek mental health professionals is TV/movies especially back in the day, I'm not sure about now and recent years, but growing up in the 90s and early 2000s and watching movies/TV shows, shrinks were always portrayed for laughs or as something useless. Beside The Sopranos I don't remember any other show or movie where psychiatrists are taken actually seriously and mental health as a whole as a necessary thing, the main protagonists always had to deal and grow on their own and psychiatrists were memed like "and how does that make you feel". Movies and shows have a huge impact on people's way of thinking about many things even tho most of the people don't even realize it.
I'm sure this won't be a bummer in any way why am I not surprised some Asian-fetishizing-Nice-Guy or twelve are fantasizing about saving her just so they can have a vulnerable victim who fits their profile. I wanna dieeeee.
thank you for being part of the offramp for the overton window on youtube, from ogling at poor people suffering like chip chan, to speaking out in aid of people in her position. it's such an important thing to do at your vantage muta. thank you.
declaring it as the end of the chip chan story, that's a large gesture and few people could leverage that like you. i hope it brings her privacy, and instigates her to stop submitting to her delusions
Even if South Korea championed mental health help, you can't force help on someone who hadn't asked for it/doesn't think they have an issue. As much as we'd want to, it would not be legal for any of us -- even if we were all South Koreans -- to forcibly drag her to a mental health clinic. The social welfare worker can encourage her, yeah, but she gets to make the choice herself. She still has basic human dignity, and we should respect that.
as an Asian American, I don't even bother talking about my mental state. the issue is never taken seriously, and they will also blame that shit on me anyway, that's why I just endure and move on.
@@jeremykyleinvestigatesall8227 Because Asian culture has an especially bad attitude towards mental health and self care Its why Hikikomori are a thing in Japan, and a large contributer to China's great resignation phenomenon Its very similar to how old school Catholics can act when it comes to similar situations for a western reference point
@@jeremykyleinvestigatesall8227 It's very typical for Asian families to brush off mental health, especially due to the nature of culture. As someone who was born into a Chinese family, my parents neglected me mentally and emotionally, never caring for my mental health. I've had depression since 3rd grade and never once brought it up to my parents until I was in 8th grade, only to be brushed off as it being a hormone imbalance. Currently, I'm on medication and going to go to therapy because I was scared I would seriously try to end my own life. Even now, my parents don't care about how I feel or bother to listen to me. This kind of treatment is normal in Asian culture and it's so damaging to people, especially the youth.

Hopefully she and everyone else in a similar situation gets the care they need from their appropriate professional local services. I can imagine in a situation like that, it can be frightening but there's always the hope that things will be addressed accordingly and they accept the help to improve their own well-being.
I remember hearing about her years ago. I stopped clicking on her articles for a reason. She needs help that the internet and their gawking ismt able to offer.
Chip Chan’s always made me so sad, all you can do is just hope that she’s safe and she has people in her life who care. I remember people thought it was funny to troll her and stuff like she was a lolcow or something when she’s most likely an unmedicated/not receiving much treatment for what must be some form of schizoaffective disorder and is constantly having stress responses. I really hope she’s okay, it’s hard to sit with the fact that this woman’s been suffering for so long.
well thats pretty sad. the gang stalking community is just very sad to watch from a far. I remember seeing a post where someone posted pics of someone stalking them in their yard, and there was literally nothing there. they would keep posting pictures and circling spots like "here!" and there was nothing. Its incredibly sad, imagine having to live in constant fear like that, it must be exhausting...
Chip-Chan is a very sad case and it may get sadder if she ever comes out of her delusions. To waste a part of your life to a mental illness is hard, and the pain it caused will be mental and physical, maybe even traumatic. I hope at least she can one day be free from fear.
i think i heard of Chip-chan from you many years ago and the most recent i've heard of her was in a video by Dantavius. The comments there relayed an update that she was in a terrible condition with bruises and fungi. So, it's just.. so sad, no one should suffer like this, any mental health disorder is a terrible curse (i know cuz i live with one) and it's unbearable if there's no one out there for you. At least she is accepting bits of help now.. maybe out of fear? i dunno..
My wife is from Busan and this is all true, from what I've seen from my several visits to South Korea. The most alarming to me is the fact that the birth rate per woman in South Korea is 0.81. That is extremely low. Young people are not able or willing to start families due to expensive real estate, stressful work culture, and the heightened cost of living after the global overreaction to covid
I just have to mention how absurdly expensive therapy can be. 100$ for an hour? of course the majority of us are gonna swipe it under the rug. It's also annoying that some people get into it just because they some slight interest, it's an "easy" job(it's really not, unless you're literally just farming people for their money), and its a lot easier to get into than other "respectable" degrees like being a doctor or engineer, and some of them are so gossipy they'd fit right in with a group of grandmas obsessed with their image. and you bet your ass I'm not gonna talk about anything of significance about my mental health with someone if I even sense even a slight hint of that. It just makes me avoid the entire profession. I don't want to spend a couple thousand and hours of time just to find the right therapist or even just so they can gain my trust to only start getting proper help. The only reason I'd go to a therapist is check if they recommend me to do an ADHD/ADD test since I suspect it to see if they agree before I spend a couple hundred on an examination.
For what it’s worth, you can get a referral for neuropsychological testing for ADHD from your primary doctor (that’s what I did). It’s more expensive than $100 per hour without coverage though, unfortunately.
I have ADHD and I’d advise anyone who suspects they have ADHD not to try and get diagnosed. Medicine is a temporary thing with many drawbacks and having the ADHD diagnosis on paper will just make your life harder. You’re not gonna be allowed to perform certain jobs and here where I live I had to pay more for my driver’s license than other people due to my ADHD alone. Learn to deal with it and don’t take any medicine, don’t get diagnosed
iirc, stress can cause rashes/acne/illness in general, and the fact that she's been doing this for 26 years, I wouldn't be surprised if she had broken out like this from it
Thank you for covering this. I was commenting on her "the cop is making my skin bad" videos for over a year when she first started her channel. She's been putting out multiple videos every day. The amount of support for her delusions has been really upsetting. At one time, about a year ago, she got some ointment for her skin. It started clearing up, but she stopped using the ointment and it got worse. At one point it got so bad that it looked like her the skin on her legs were tree trunks. I don't think it's entirely a mental health issue. Of course she's not mentally healthy, and it's hard to see, but she also revels in her audience. She puts disclaimers on her videos now pleading with people to stop giving her advice or help or anything that doesn't support her narrative. I hope she gets the help she needs, but she really doesn't want it. She's been "back" for a couple years. It's truly sad.
it’s probably because her “narrative” is very real in her mind so she’s sick of people telling her that she’s wrong and not believing her in a way. telling her that there’s no chip isn’t going to help the situation because the chip very much exists to her. the best way for her to able to live a semi normal life would be to learn how to co exist with the chip and P, which is something only trained professionals could help her with, not random commenters on the internet. i truly wish the best for this poor woman:/
@@yup5053 So the best way for her to live a healthy life isn't to get help seeing reality, but rather for everyone to play into her delusions and pretend like P and her chip exist?
@@TairyHesticles no. i said the best way for her to live a semi-normal life is for a trained professional to help her develop ways of coping with the idea of the chip and P. at this point it’s been almost 20 years that she’s been living in this reality, it’s unrealistic to assume you can just knock her out of it. like i said, in her head the chip in her foot and P are very very real but she can learn that they can’t hurt her.
Haven't finished the video yet but super glad to see the latest chip chan developments being covered. I've seen the sudden drastic change in her condition and I've been very concerned and I was surprised no one was talking about it.
It’s kind of sad that Mental health is ignored so much even still. In Mexican culture, men aren’t allowed to talk about mental health AT ALL. If you do you’re basically considered weak by everyone. Even in the US, it’s barely talked about. I hope Chip Chan starts to seek more help soon.
I've heard of patients I've taken care of dying because their mental illness impaired them from seeking the medical care they needed(I work in medicine but not Mental Health). So very, very sad.😢
I've been completely unaware of this but I video chatted with her around 2012 for about eight hours...wtf...mostly normal conversation about culture but yeah...I'm a little weirded out by this.
It’s sad too because placebo is a very real thing as well. If she is schizophrenic and truly believes some of the things she says it really can effect her physically. Mental health already effects you physical. Believing something about your body can effect your body even more. If you believe you have any issues with mental health you should really treat it like an open wound or other injury you might have and would address quicker. At least in those terms. Basically I’m trying to say it’s something more people should take seriously. Especially with themselves if possible.
I love the message in this video about mental health. Even in the US it's difficult to find a therapist to get proper mental health. Usually the only option is your PCP to give you a prescription that they think might help you.
Yeah, 1996 was when she started this lifestyle. That also happens to be the time when Korea was basically going to something called the IMF Financial Crisis. Basically, it was like the 2008 Financial Crisis in America but on steroids, whereas the Korean financial crisis basically made the Korean won worthless. Lots of families and small businesses went bankrupt. People committed suicide, usually the men of households since theyre expected to be the breadwinners, especially in a Confucian society like Korea. You could bet there was a lot of cronyism and corruption in it. It could he that Chip Chan could have had some sever marital/familuly troubles in the mid-late 90s.
As a US citizen native born with mental health issues, this is totally true. Despite the efforts being made, mental health is still too big of an overlooked issue. This is even harder for me when I have a lot of family who don't believe I have mental problems. It's always the excuses of me being shy, rude, having a lack of confidence, too soft, etc. More or less seen as weak like you mentioned about South Korea.
In Malaysia, the mental health awareness is heavily neglected by the Malaysian government, or at least what's happening in the Eastern states. When seeking a therapist abt what the problem we're having, they conclude immediately that it is a severe mental health and should be taken to the mental hospital. They don't want to deal with our shit unless we have a huge funds to pay them. It really sucks to see a few friends around me having these mental problem and weren't being treated properly by professionals... Although I'm in their close friends circle, there's not much I can do to provide help as well.
Only recently found out about Chip Chan and pretty interesting since I live in Busan and have for a year. Seems like she really needs help and hopefully she gets it. Also got to say that mental health issues here are big and Korea is very far behind the west in offering support. Work life balance is shit and almost all my Korean friends want to work abroad etc. Not saying they dont like living in Korea but the work attitude is insane here.
The idea of subjecting yourself to this torture and restriction on ones freedoms for 26 years and counting is just a gut punching idea We’re talking about 1/3 of her adult life wasted torturing herself. I’m afraid to say maybe even less than that given how substantially these kind of untreated mental and physical health problems can affect ones live expectancy
Yk sometimes I think im batshit fuckin crazy, and then I remember that guys like the one at 12:15 exist and then I remember "oh nah im alright im just a little weird."
I know there was a Japanese lady like this aswell but she was on twitch. I watched her stream for a bit and people would ask her do had signs to show that she was really live.
This is very sad. Folks like Chip-Chan usually don't get help because they don't realize they need it, or they don't trust authority. And in Canada, folks can refuse care, which can be an issue if you're sick and don't think you need care. It's quite possible people in her life have tried to be rational and help her, but she's likely pushed that help away. Mental Health isn't binary, or a "one size fits all" sort of situation. Should the right to refuse care exist in every case? It's hard to say. The MH system, at least in Canada, does not do a good job of accommodating more "challenging" people. I personally know a few folks who vow to never go back to a hospital/MH resource center after the experience(s) they had. Thank you for having REAL empathy for someone like Chip-Chan. Feeling sorry for her doesn't help, and laughing at her only exacerbates her personal demons. More people deserve that same level of empathy.
Truly sad. The crazy thing is there are so many other channels exactly like this on RUclips. I removed finding this channel of this guy thinking he’s being followed by everybody driving around everyday screaming in anger why people don’t let him get to where he wants. He would point to random cars saying yes it looks like a normal car but he’s been tracking me for months. Such weird shit on RUclips. Wish I could remember the channel.
I have a bunch of implants, I put them there. No mind control. There are definitely no chips that can track you from a meaningful distance (more than a few yards), absolutely no implantable GPS chips exist, that is an active system with relatively high power requirements. GPS receivers decode extremely weak signals from satellites. In order to track someone, the receiver would need to retransmit it's location to a cell tower for example.
Incorrect. Please don't make statements that are clearly inaccurate, it does a disservice to the people who may be reading this and take your information as fact.
@@ryno2062 Where is your evidence? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that that range can increase to a few hundred feet with an extremely powerful radio and directional antenna. To actually track you with that? They would have to keep the antenna pointed directly at you, e.g. already looking at you.
Shout out to Mutahar for being a real one. Mental health is super important and self improvement relies on constant self-checks and awareness. I think there's no better way to handle it than asking for help. Life is difficult enough already for so many people, and dealing with mental illness or some cognitive distortion can make matters much worse. Best we can do is facilitating resources like counseling and therapy so those who need help can access it. Thank you for the video!
I’m really glad that you emphasizes the importance of mental health and breaking down the stigmas surrounding it that plagues cultures all around the globe. Sadly, even in this modern era, many view it as purely a mental weakness and something that you just have to get over. As someone that’s bipolar, I was not diagnosed with it until succumbing to an alcohol addiction, as, ironically, substance abuse is usually linked to that mental disorder, especially if it goes untreated. But, this wasn’t until far past the usual diagnoses or times it would be tested for, due to the stigma surrounding it and the fact that my parents didn’t want to entertain that thought or possibility. Point is, especially with the onset of COVID and all of the crazy, depressing shit everyone is dealing with, we all have our breaking points and it’s imperative to seek professional help whenever you can. Sadly, there’s a massive shortage of professional mental health workers within the field, so, people that are finally seeking much needed help aren’t getting it. So, it’s a real conundrum that we as a society are facing
Yeah schizoprenia is a very scary mental illness since you dont know how it effects you and even if it does. A friend of mine has it basically in his entire family tree and was terrified if and when he will be effected by it. And it did eventually come to him when he drove into oncoming traffic because he thought the woman driving the other car, fell in love with him and he has to tell her that it is wrong and she needs to give up on him. Both were in hospital for a long time, and i think the female driver is still in a coma. It also doesnt help thinking their World view is wrong because its not an opinion you can change, they literraly think the sky is red like we see the sky in blue.
As a well medicated person with schizoaffective bipolar and PTSD if I was paranoid and not medicated and someone shows up and says il marry you and take you to a foreign country I would probably do something extreme that is a dangerous game
I have ocd, it really fucks with me so much almost kinda like chip chan especially when I was 8-10 3 years ago it once told me to stay home while my mom went to the store or else a missing baby I saw on the news would be found dead and I threw a fit when she didn't let me stay home because I was 9. And when she dragged me there I cursed her under my breath, and he was found dead a few weeks later. Even in May of this year, it told me to cut my toe nail else a boy would kill himself because he told me he cuts himself I didn't do it all the way because it hurt to much. I felt so fucking amazing when he came into class the next day Edit: I was diagnosed when I was 11 and I'M NOT SAYING SHE HAS OCD I'M SAYING I CAN KINDA RELATE TO HER Of course my signs are a lot less severe then chipchan
I don't know if this is real, but talk to your school nurse or the school counselor or any professional at your school, your physician..i don't know the US system, anyway there are people that can help you, don't be afraid or ashamed, everything will be fine

Yeah, imagine someone with this level of paranoia getting a "visit" by some stranger intending to "Save" her. Talk about a bad idea.
Idk the background, but in all honesty it isn’t a crazy offer. Contract marriages are pretty common in the military.

@@user-ex5pg3oy9c bruh most people can barely remember what they ate 1 day ago what kind of question is that lol
When I was in S. Korea, I spoke with some local friends about Chip-Chan. They were fully aware of her, and the online attention. I think it is important for me to share this whenever she is brought up, so this is what I was told-
She has a 'support network', but she's a shut-in.
Thx for the info! I also reported the guy above me saying hes better than muta
Thanks for sharing. This is gut-wrenching to see unfold when you know you can't do anything. Hoping something changes and she feels ready to get some help.
Thank you for the info. Interesting and tragic
Hopefully so. When I was a kid I never had any help, not even from the ones I loved as family and friends. Hope she gets more support
I suffered depression some years ago due to bullying at my old workplace, and when my lead found me crying she straight up told me "your heart is too weak."
They seem to slowly be changing their minds (at least here) but having depression or any mental health issue, your workplace can deem you unfit to work, and you could be fired. Young people are more aware, but those in the seats of power are still the older generation who just tell you to "shut up and clench your teeth"
I really, really hope Chipchan can get the help she rightfully deserves because being suffering like this for over two decades is something I do not wish for anyone.
contries of the future... pff my ass, a sinner asking to not sin, Asian countries do not have humans, but cogs of a machine, good wishes to those people
Had multiple similar experience where i currently work at mental health is a sign of weakness and the results of your work is everything to them anything else is thrown out the window. Man i just cant resign cause i have a hard time finding a new corporate job

Just stay away from psychotropics, akathisia causes homicide and suicide
🥱
TIL I’m 5 years older than Muta
ANYWAYS every time I hear about Chip-chan, my heart breaks for her a little more.
I agree, its pretty creepy to wanna marry her then become her parental figure especially too.
I am also 5 years older than him
It’s so sad that she’s been living in constant paranoia since the 90’s. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it must be for someone like her to live like this for 20+ years. I feel so bad for her.
How can she stay cooped up like that for decades? That’s basically equivalent to being in a coma!
I've seen a friend of mine being taken by Paranoid Schizophrenia. She believes the mafia is watching her every step, and she's afraid of her own parents because she thinks they have malicious intent.
She's very fond of me for whatever reason, but I've honestly become afraid of what she might be capable of doing, be it to herself or strangers,
especially after she suddenly tried strangling my buddy with a cable.

You're incredibly right. I learned this the hard way with family
@@Instabruh.User.. ok Bot
Never thought of it that way 🤔

Even hospitals? that's fucked up
Isn't Japan similar in this regard to both mental health and work/life balance as well?
Because I saw some cases from Coffehouse's channel that involved heavily mentally ill people in Japan that just snapped, and I think one went and attacked a low security mental hospital (the former one of the person who did the crime). As different as those two (S. Korea and Japan) countries are they are very similar in how they are heavily conformist.
I don’t necessarily disagree with not focusing on the "bad" students in school. Elementary school in North America is so dumbed down to keep the bottom ends of classes afloat.

I’m a mental health RN. Honestly I see stuff like this all the time and services available for those who are afflicted with some disorder that makes them lose in touch with reality is really sad because it is so limited in most communities and basically sets them up for failure.

Overgeneralisations such as "I won't take anyone with mental issues seriously" are not helping the people who actually suffer from mental issues, or people that are afraid / reluctant to seek out help when they severely require it. (such as chip-chan)
Overgeneralisations are precisely what led to these self-diagnosing e-teens and the general stigmatisation of therapy and psychology.

I'm sure this won't be a bummer in any way

Even if South Korea championed mental health help, you can't force help on someone who hadn't asked for it/doesn't think they have an issue. As much as we'd want to, it would not be legal for any of us -- even if we were all South Koreans -- to forcibly drag her to a mental health clinic. The social welfare worker can encourage her, yeah, but she gets to make the choice herself. She still has basic human dignity, and we should respect that.
