I hate to bother you again with another question but would you be able to tell me where you purchased the zippers? I am having trouble finding one that is 1.5" wide. Thank you so much for your help.
@@oakleathercraft thx for the quick response. I saw the necessary sq feet when I downloaded the pattern. I’ve done a couple of dieselpunkro’s laptop briefcases. They have about 2200 holes, so I am mentally prepared. Being retired affords me too much spare time. Thx again
Hi, I bought your pattern on Etsy a few days ago; I plan making it at the end of next week with my 13 yo son (I mean, he'll make it and I'll give him a hand or advice when needed, I'm also responsible of translation, since we're French)... I wondered how you go the antique finish on the bag. It's probably not only a matter of dye itself. Did you use another finishing fluid or a technique to achieve it?
Hello Raphael. Thank you very much for purchase in my etsy shop. Have a nice work :) Almost 3000 holes and lots of stitching waiting for you guys :) I aged leather by felt and candle. You can see it in 2:47. You can also find more about this technique here: ruclips.net/video/FSfvhYMksxg/видео.html
@@oakleathercraft, thanks for your reply, I must confess I haven't watched the entire video yet, since I'll watch it in its entirety next week with my son. I read your word about the number of holes and smiled, my son probably isn't aware of this and I will let him count the number of holes :-) Anyway my 2 other kids will also be leatherworking and will need my directions, mainly because they are younger (girl and boy, 11 yo twins). I had the bad surprise of discovering an accessory that I missed when reviewing the required hardware : square rings, I only ordered the rivets and buckles... I hope they will be delivered before the beginning of the assembly, but you're speaking about thousands of holes, so it will require more than one weekend... Cheers, thanks again for your pattern and directions!
Yes. Of course. I always burnish edges. In this video I didn't show you all steps becsuse this video tutorial how to make backpack from my patterns and this is most important for me but I alwas burnish edges in vegetable leather. Thanks.

Adam, in your hardware list you call for two double bar belt buckles but in some of the photos I see a regular belt buckle. Did you make a change that I missed? Thanks
Thanks Ciceron. I checked total weight of this backpack for you. Total weight of backpack from the video is 1.6 kg and in my oppinion this is standard weight for leather backpack.

Great video. It was clear and concise. No wasted time, just exactly what I needed.
SICK!!! Liked and subscribed! that has both my interests ive been looking into, making a backpack and leather making! Thank you!!
Thanks !!!
Nice pack liked the color choices.
hello from Portugal. i love your work. what kind / brand of zipper do you use in this project. thank you for sharing.
Teşekkür ederim...

Thanks. Trying to get it all in antique brass is impossible. Only Etsy has the antique finished buckles and that takes 3-4 weeks to get.
No problem. I understand but if you want you can swap double bar buckles for standard buckles.
Very Good
Awesome looking backpack...in the process of trying it myself. May I ask what size of Chicago screws you used? Thanks so much.
Thanks Jason. Link to rivets www.ivan.tw/products/screw-posts-6mm-1-4?variant=39404270747843
This is cool man 😌
Yet another stunning piece of work! Just curious...do you use any kind of thread-lock with those Chicago type screws? Cheers! 🙂👍
Thanks Jer. Yes I'm using adhesive.
@@oakleathercraft Thanks for the reply...and keep up the great work!
Very nice!
Thank you.
i am planning to buy the pattern, but not sure whether I would need a lot of skiving to make the bag...
Hello from Russia)! I want to do this backpack, but I'm not sure that straps are comfortable for wearing. How do you think?
Your work is amazing and inspiring! I would like that pattern is it free?
it's in the description and costs 15 bucks
You should also sell hardware. Maybe make it an option, for extra.
My biggest question is approximately how many sq ft of leather is required? Love the back pack. Thank you!
Thank you Marshall . To make this backpack you need approx 12 sq ft. of leather.
