I was a kid from the mid 70's...grew up gaming in the 1980's. I was blown away by GTA III on PS2 when I saw that....this is now god mode.

@@NoobFLProducer PoP was the 1st game I played... It was way back, on a 286 PC which ran at 16MHz (on turbo mode). This game is more like Tomb Raider than Prince of Persia, because the theme here is more Chinese/Indonesian etc, in that area
All this makes me think of how good an Indiana Jones game would be if they did one.

In 20 years this will be like 16bit graphics and some indie developer in his bedroom will make a game look like this about birds that are angry flapping their wings.
Graphic improvements keep having diminishing returns due to many people simply not having the tech to dispaly it proeprly (such as compressed video on youtube) and having poor eyesight. 20 years from now is a jump that you would have compared to, say, 10 years ago.
@@StrazdasLT wtf are you talking about. Technological progress in computing performance is exponentially increasing in truth. Next 20 years would be more like the last 40 years of progress in computing performance and software. The increase in visual fidelity might have decreasing noticeable impact per improvement in computing performance enables it, however the newly realized computing resources will be able to be allocated to something much more beyond just graphics by then into virtual reality, augmented reality, and continue significant improvement in graphics as well as realistic simulation and much more.
@@junh4807 Computing power is increasing exponentially. The results of graphic production does not. The fidelity increases need more and more power for the same level of increase, which results in diminishing returns from just putting more raw power into it.

@@codyvandal2860 Nah the developers willl just slap some 64x tesselation (wtcher 3) or tesselate water you cant even see (crysis 2)to keep frmaerates down without visual impact.
Lighting is so gorgeous! Everything looks amazing, except two things. The face texture isn't as sharp as the stones and rocks, and water still looks like jelly.
kasou01 yeah to be honest I think water was perfected in unreal 4, when they try to put detail in water it looks way to thick

Nothing at all
As a game engine developer, I'm am extremely impressed. The amount of GPU power required to render that many polygons is literally insane. However, the meshes, textures, lighting and materials have all been pushed to their limits to ensure a quality demonstration. You should not expect the quality of new games to be even remotely similar to this.
However, this is still amazing and I am fan girling over here.

It is so looked over, but if you have high end headphones the 3D audio here is completely incredible. Almost everyone has 4k TV's now, so quality audio equipment will be the next big upgrade people should make this gen.

This is still a stunning display, I really wish this could be a game with different dynamic worlds. I’d love to see a murkworld or swamp like environment, some type of tundra or frost world and some type of underwater world. Push the limits of dynamic exploration. Give me something like shadow of the colossus meets tomb raider kind of thing with this level of fidelity and I’d be a super happy camper. I don’t need the game to be long but I want a memorable experience. There are beautiful games but I like this character and concept. Seeing that room be lit this way is amazing.

motion blur is related to develoeprs being assholes and forcing motion blur in a game.
The fact that you will be able to use your models straight out of zbrush is literally INSANE. This is such a relieve for 3D artists

Well, most of the time i see these demos it reminds me EV concepts, I believe it's good when i see it in use, in production... Make Watch Dogs, Gta style and size game in this detail and i will sure clap my hands then and give them 100 bucks for copy

at 6:26 even the furthest buildings are made up of hundreds of thousands of millions of triangles, there's no tricks- everything across the entire map has the same graphical detail as the statues in the room before- they could definitely make a gta style game this nice looking

If only Unreal was easier to learn. Most people stick with Unity because it's easier.
Tried both and the workflow isn't that different. I always found what I needed in the UE docs but I agree it's more "bloated".

Funny, it reminds me of the Anthem E3 trailer . What Anthem was showing at 2017 was the exact quality, or at least very close to this one, and u guys know exactly what the final product is. In logic, that means EA is showing something technically impossible to be finished at that moment. Actually, not just EA, there were some game trailers or demos premiere at those big gaming events, might be showing something that absolutely could not be done by the technology lvl at that moment. The first time I watched this demo, the first thing came to my mind is that, it feels so familiar, like somethings I have seen many times before, then the I quickly realised , that’s how those gaming company tried to impress you, by showing something should only be able to be done at now, but showing it 3 yrs earlier which that kind of technology didn’t even exist yet. Well, this video just enlightened me, thank you.
Ok, but Anthem was showed as a commercial game, not a tech demo. This is how a game could look on this graphic engine, not how they all would look when they come out.

fluid simulations - those are simplified and prebaked. theres no way you are simulating that in real life. youd need a datacenter to simulate it in real life at this framerate. A water at this size with waves hitting shores would be able to accurately simulate in rela life on a home computer by around 2040.

@@youngspecial64 Dude, it does not matter if PS5 games look like this. You can prebake water physics and display them in a game. we did it for over a decade. What you cannot do is simulate the physics in real time when playing the game. The ignorance here is yours as you dont seem to be even aware of what is being talked about.
The most exiting thing in this gen is the movement from slow 5200 rpm HDDs into fast storage and fast memory, which would allow a competely different approach to game design. Imagine playing a game with no loading screens because it keeps preloading everything in the background.

0:15 Improve how birds start flying from the ground. They are directly jumping into flight. Extra flappy flappy in the beginning. Slow flappy later on.
2:05 Character's hair looks very light. Hair is heavy. especially with locks like that.
2:22 No shadows on rocks cast by the hand. Also could be because of the fact that hand is just hovering on the rock and is not on it.
3:50 foot hovers on steps. Moves unnaturally.
3:57 hand hovers on the door again. Hand feels like a solid object when it is actually soft.
3:58 No soft shadow in the armpit region.
3:59 cloth on the left shoulder is going into the region of the belt. This cloth also does not cast any soft shadows.
5:21 climbing the stairs does not have a natural look. Body seems to progress more than excepcted for the number of steps the legs climb.
Most of these could be wrong but would be nice to be looked at.

But tech demo IS STILL tech demo....
But this demo used so many unnecessary settings. Most of the assets would look just as good with half the polys, normal maps, and 4K textures. If it can run this scene so smoothly now, no doubt a launch PS5 title would be able to handle this same scene, but optimized with meshes that make sense

This is what pc would have looked like in 2015 if it hadn't been held back by ps4 and Xbox. Weaker consoles sell more therefore developers make sure graphics can still work on them even if they are so outdated. Well glad we're finally catching up to technology from 2015.
