Honest and straight forward! That's interesting about the headlight. Everything I've seen, they all rave about it! Thanks!

All good stuff. I am a great fan of Kenda tires. I rode off-road for decades starting in the 1960's (yeah, I'm that old) and have ridden most tire brands and styles. Kenda's have performed way above their average price point and they are kinda the go-to tire for desert work. They are not afraid of rocks and they still stick well on asphalt - what's not to like : )

I also did the Ricochet skid plate. This is probably the most important mod for a TW, the stock one may as well be made of plastic. Not as easy to install as I thought it would be though.

The stock footpegs would only fit a child's foot. This man has size 10 footpegs.

@@grumpysquid I personally got the IMI Super Stock pegs from ProCycle, and can’t say enough good about them. Way bigger and grippier than the stockers, you can stand on them all day.

I’ve done some night riding next to the JNS light and still prefer my Cyclops 7000 lumen bulb. Cyclops has an updated version as well. Kind of a bummer as the JNS does look slick.

This video says it best. If you plan to go off road, get yourself a pair of hand guards and bars that won't fold over like a limp dick. Second most important for offroad use is, get a real skid plate. To further express the need for a real belly pan and my love for this bike, I lost the stock pop can on my first off road ride. One good rock to the bottom end and it sheared from the lousy M6 bolt that is the sole fastener holding it on. Rigged it on the trail with zip ties because holy shit that shouldn't have happened, but for me the stock bash n' crash was a one time use. Bought the ricochet offroad plate and have since throttled that sucker into boulders the size of your granddad's nads and have never once had a problem banging this mule into unknown territory it had no business being in, in the first place. Dry creek? Sure. Wet creek? Bring it on. Steep rocky hillside? First gear and go. Steep muddy hillside? Give it the beans and shift accordingly. Ruts? Just pick a lane and throttle it out. Drag it over a fallen tree? Child's play. If you go off road, the skid plate will determine your fate. After that, make sure you have a good pair of bark busters on, and a pair of foot pegs that are actually designed for an adult foot. It is then that this bike will amaze you with where it can go.

I wonder if a skid plate can be too strong. I mean, maybe you want it to crush some to absorb energy, so you won't bend your frame!

    • @kyleshearer5722
      @kyleshearer5722 3 года назад +2

@@namdarbolour9890 to be fair you're absolutely on to something about this. I had a honda 300ex that came with a plastic underbelly skid plate and it just sort of slid over obstacles and was really quite thick, probably 1/2 inch or better. It was also cushioned by rubber grommets at the fastening points giving it close to an inch of clearance from the belly to the engine case itself. I would have liked to have a hard plate protecting the bottom on the case, but after the plastic. Sort of like catching an egg thrown at you with a catcher's mit, or catching it with a brick. The tw has rubber grommets with the factory plate, but the metal is about as thick as a pie tin which could be puntured by about and sturdy rock. Polymer skid plates with sturdy metal backing could be the way of the future! 3D printer go brrrrr hahaaa

The headlight looks 1980'ish mainly because of the big plastic housing around it imo...but I see what you were trying to do but what you put still looks better. Those ditch lights are great and actually look really good..way better than they look on someone's hood of their truck, lol. Like those blinkers..wonder if they will survive one drop?..they look slim and trim tho. Good vid.

Hi, thanks for the TW video. I have to disagree with you on the headlight. I have recently installed the same one on my 2018 TW and I love it. It uses much less power than the stock light and it is much brighter. I'm not going to install any more lights now. With the stock headlight and 2 more lights, you run the risk of overloading your electrical system and burning wires.

    Hey, man. Sweet TW.
Are you able to eliminate that front headlight assembly and replace it with a standard round LED headlight?
Or rather, would there be much fabrication to make that happen?
    Any help would be awesome.
I plan on getting one soon.
    Thanks

I weigh 190 lbs. 6'. Is this bike way too small or reasonable? Was looking at a Honda CT125 so obviously this is beefier. Haven't been on a bike for many years. Miss it.

Don't know if you've researched this since you posted but, yeah should be no problem. There are a ton of vids of people riding, watch a few. I recommend Duel Dorks, he regularly puts his through real riding. He did 10k miles in a year both on and a lot of off road.
