    This is a floating floor, and this material expands alot when it gets warm in the house then contracts small again when it's cool. Even when your gluing you should have a little space on each side do it can move. If iui t cant expand to vfc the sides when its warm, the only way to go is up. And can make the planks all come apart

      If you leave the padding attached it will eventually breakdown and pull away from the adhesive. You should absolutely remove the padding (at least from the risers, the treads will probably stay put)

    Overall a good job. I think you should do another but be more methodical in your approach to the video so that you include the steps. I messed up when I did mine as I didn't realise I should keep that gap for the bullnose. You should have shown the bullnose going in. Also on the half landings why did you leave that bit of baseboard there - it would be better to have removed that and put it in place over the flooring - just saying. Great job though

    • @robertlawler6423
      @robertlawler6423 3 года назад

      No because it is not wood and synthetic doesn’t stretch plus it’s got its own glue on the back of the tile the extra he has put on probably so it doesn’t bubble

    • @kaimiconstructionhawaii3229
      @kaimiconstructionhawaii3229  3 года назад +1

      I also do this for a living and on steps you do not need expansion but in a room especially near a sliding glass door you need expansion because the heat from the sun makes this material expand its happen to me one time learned my lesson.

    damn, I wish I saw this video before using a mitre saw and table saw to cut almost all my plnaks. I have some gaps on the sides, a lot of mess to clean and vacuum and wasted pieces from making incorrect cuts. This method looks way cleaner, both in mess and precision and probably a lot faster too!

  • @amos616

    Do you overlap the nose with the plank??

    • @kaimiconstructionhawaii3229
      @kaimiconstructionhawaii3229  4 года назад

      No the stair nose comes with the overlap. It is actually called "Overlap Stair Nose". Some manufactures also have Flush Stair noses. It is a good choice for those who do not like overlap stair noses.

      @@miguelmurray6509 depends on the glue you get, but I recommend a least 12 hours. In the case of this video we let it dry over night.

    Looks good, but the hump or lip at the front edge of each step, the nosing piece, is uncomfortable to walk on. Would be nice if there was a way to do this and make the step flat on top.

      They have vinyl flooring that has stair nose pieces that click in just like the flooring. This creates a flush tread. You simply have to look for the manufacturer who makes that type when you are buying. Explain what you are looking for to the flooring salesperson and they will show you who makes it.

      This type of stairs is called overlap. There are some flush stair noses as well.

      With vinyl glue down you can't have nosing that they will be flush or without hump. You pay more money to get the perfect step, flush with nosing who click with the plank like Torlys product or Dura Fusion 5.5...

      I do 100 per step. Just do wood treads and risers. The cost gets out of control for lvp stairs and will never turn out as good.
