Overall a good job. I think you should do another but be more methodical in your approach to the video so that you include the steps. I messed up when I did mine as I didn't realise I should keep that gap for the bullnose. You should have shown the bullnose going in. Also on the half landings why did you leave that bit of baseboard there - it would be better to have removed that and put it in place over the flooring - just saying. Great job though
Hey Boss, great video! Our supplier said we can't do the stairs to match with vinyl plank. After seeing this video I say you proved them wrong. What is the material called that you used for the bull nose or to cover the corver of each stairs? Or maybe a link to one so I get the general idea? Thank you!
I have VLP on my downstairs floor and I wanted to add it to the stairs. This is one of the best videos that I have found for what I want to do! Only difference is that I want to have white risers. I'm going to look for that template tool! Also, what is the cutting tool you used?
Thank you! I love white risers. It gives it a clean look! The tool you can find it in amazon as well. You can type Vinyl Floor Cutter. Recommend to get the one that has a curve. It allows you to make long cuts. Like the one you see in the video.
dont u need to leave a little gap at the edges of each step for expansion. Like they tell u to leave a 1/4 inch gap around the perimeter of a room if i am not mistaken
I believe since the steps are so small in length and width that it is not necessary plus they are glued. I'm not 100% but I had the same question and this is what I suspect.
No because it is not wood and synthetic doesn’t stretch plus it’s got its own glue on the back of the tile the extra he has put on probably so it doesn’t bubble
I also do this for a living and on steps you do not need expansion but in a room especially near a sliding glass door you need expansion because the heat from the sun makes this material expand its happen to me one time learned my lesson.
damn, I wish I saw this video before using a mitre saw and table saw to cut almost all my plnaks. I have some gaps on the sides, a lot of mess to clean and vacuum and wasted pieces from making incorrect cuts. This method looks way cleaner, both in mess and precision and probably a lot faster too!
You can definitely use a miter saw. But in this video I am using a vinyl flooring cutter. You can find some in amazon. there is a lot of different kinds. Vinyl flooring cutters have a better clean cut and less mess.
A utility knife will work too on vinyl flooring, it will be a little harder but you can crack it down pretty easy. Always use the proper protective equipment.
Can i make a suggestion that makes it faster. Instead of using a pencil, scribe with a sharp knife on both sides and break the ends after. You get a perfect cut
Starting this project now but having a problem with finding vinyl planks without a backing. Anybody know if you can still use glue even with an attached backing?
I would either peel the rubber backing off which is sometimes can be an easy task or belt sanded off with 60 grit This provides better adhesion overall

Not for that particular product since it's not a wood based
No acclimation needed as well
