Where’s the LIGHT DRAGON in Breath of the Wild?!

- Tears of the Kingdom introduced the Light Dragon into the world of Hyrule, but my main question is just where exactly was the Light Dragon during the events of Breath of the Wild?
#zelda #nintendo #tearsofthekingdom
It's widely assumed that the Light Dragon and Master Sword were just super high into the sky, above the cloud barrier. They only descended lower once Ganondorf's Upheaval disrupted them.
The master sword wasn't on the light Dragon at the start but when lino sent it back in time it was suddenly on the light Dragon, so when time travel happens, the history updates to what was changed, so the light Dragon didn't exist in botw
Zelda going back in time was always supposed to happen so the light dragon did exist in tears of the kingdom this is a different form of time travel one that could be seen in the Harry Potter books. If Zelda really create an alternate timeline by going back in time then how come the Ganondorf from the present known Zelda before she even time traveled and a counter arguement could easily be 1 he was the same Ganondorf from Oot or 2 the geoglyphs 1 is false cause Oot had hyrule exist for a very long time in the official zelda time line and the geoglyphs could be caused by zonai technology being activated so the only possibility is that Zelda went back in time and it was always supposed to happen
@@Creecher6it's like skyward sword where some time travel related events already happened in the past and some didn't
@@Naruhinahaven255The geoglyphs were drawn by ancient people who discovered the tears and saw the visions. The geoglyphs are all designed based on a prominent feature from each memory. So between Ganondorf's sealing and the current state of Hyrule, a lost civilization discovered the tears first.
@@Creecher6 How’s that happen? The only time we see the Light Dragon is as soon as TotK begins and onward, and it always had the Master Sword in its head.
I thought it was for the same reason as the sky islands, they both stayed above the clouds out of sight from the surface until Ganondorfs seal broke and the Light Dragon spilt the clouds
Yea this is why. Idk wtf he’s talking abt
He says that at the of the vid
@@maten9637looks like someone didn't watch the whole video

Well then how was Zelda in Botw?!
@@JJPTheDandy .-.
Ok, hem...
Because the drsgon can exist at the same time with zelda in bowt but in the skys?
@@JJPTheDandylight dragon is zelda. So when zelda was sealed within calamity ganon, the dragon did not exist as her canon event was still going on and also because she didnt have the stone at that time. My theory is that it was that..... Idk since before we give the sword back in time, the dragon already exists and roams around soo I'm also confused. Maybe it came to birth after zelda was saved from calamity Ganon.
@@solgaliosgaming9420no it existed, it was above the cloud barrier, it just coexisted alongside Zelda.
@@JJPTheDandyZelda hadn't gone back in time yet, so they both existed at the same time.
Zelda being above the clouds is a good reason not just because of the portal thing, but also of her compendium entry, it says that she flys high above the clouds in the sky, meaning she was just hiding until the time was right.
No she travelled forever in time
When you think about it
When the dragons go into the sky they can't be seen
The Light Dragon is always in the sky in TOTK
That could be why you never see it in game
I'm really grateful for the likes, it may not be many, but thank you all
Light dragon in botw makes no sense due to the past being changed in tears of the kingdom wich plays after botw
@kioberst4milk254 The past is the past. If Zelda being in the past wasn’t ALWAYS true, then Rauru would’ve never sealed Ganondorf in stasis (which he did in order to wait for Link’s arrival) and BoTW would’ve never happened at all.
@@kioberst4milk254it’s a self contained loop, zelda was always meant to go back into the past, and botw zelda existed alongside the light dragon. It’s not hard to understand.
@@kioberst4milk254 Zelda traveling back in time was always meant to happen.
Yeah but it still happened it totk not in botw
Imagine if that the light dragon in botw just came down one day and gave link a second master sword to fight calamity ganon and possibly changed the beginning of totk due to having another stronger master sword against ganondorf
Dual Wielding Link??! Shit sound awesome dude
My theory is that the light dragon was so high up in the sky that it couldn't be seen, and the sky island were up with the light dragon. And maybe when the gloom appeared, it sort of dragged the sky islands down, and the light dragon with it.
Well i mean, since Zelda is from the future i just assume the Zonai lifted shit up and set it to come down to Links aid when Ganondorf woke up again. And again, pretty sure the light dragon just followed them since it is shown to still contain a lot of Zelda, even though the person is gone.
It's explicitly stated why the islands appeared, it has nothing to do with ganon
The dragon is Zelda so if Zelda's in Ganon in botw she can't be a dragon
@@LittleAllStar15the dragon is Zelda who went back in time so Zelda basically does a loop de loop through time
That's what he said
Besides, there's a thing called "Sky Barrier", something introduced in Skyward Sword. Basically, it's a cloud barrier which prevents everybody to see or reach what's past it. If you're up, it prevents you from falling. If you're down, it prevents you from rising. Once ypu open the health check door, the Light Dragon breaks the barrier.
She was above the clouds, heck she doesn't even come down until you do a specific quest line, she just kinda exists up there
That "YAH HAH HAH" genuinely scared me😂
If you get a weapon into the start of the game the dragon murals are still there even though they aren’t storyline meant to appear and it’s funny cause you break em and Zelda is like OHHH I WONDER WHATS BEHIND it also shows that cutscenes in this game rather then being a video are like the game controlling the characters!
I love how the Zelda Timeline just goes from Timeline Splits and Straight into Paradoxes
“THERES TWO OF THEM?”
-Squidward
I know he says this at the end of the video, but to make things a little clearer, after you beat the great sky Island, the light dragon makes a hole in the cloud barrier, which allows you to jump down and be able to see the sky islands and the light dragon
that ending got me. i was shocked at how clean that transition was until it cut to the explanation which made me laugh
Cdot talked about this short in his stream today and he said something like “Me and Time travel, you know how that goes” 😂
Imagine if link was able to get to the dragon during BotW. He could have strolled up to Calamity Ganon dual wielding master swords.
The perfect transition doesn’t exi-
Guessing that you didn’t watch to the end
@@Astro_5 you’re right
That’s some mental gymnastics you used there, ro
you have successfully confused me
Counter theory. She was in the depths. When we unlock the light dragon she rises from below(off camera) and the depths only opened in totk. She could have been trapped down there?
Or... She just in the skys, in bowt the dragons go to the sky and you cant dee hey
Why would she only show up just as needed?
Well in the cutscene where Zelda turns into a haha furry dragon, she goes in the clouds and maybe never to be seen again until TOTK
Edit: I should’ve finished the video 💀
also it should be noted that you can see the light dragon all through the sky islands when you're up there, and since it holds the Master Sword amd you have the master sword before sending it back in time, at that point there's technically two Master Swords
that was the cleanist loop ive ever seen
What loop?
YOU MISSED THE CHANCE TO SAY "FIRST WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT PARALLEL UNIVERSES"
i always just assumed the dragon was sealed away in the depths after seeing the other dragons making visits into the depths
She probably was just above the cloud barrier with the sky islands. At the end of the tutorial section she goes down and breaks the cloud barrier and then people on the ground can see the dragon and the islands.
It was likely just hanging out high in the sky this whole time. So there were two master swords present in the world for a long time
To make it easier on my brain I've just been telling myself that the light dragon was either locked in the depths or too high to ever see
Loving the new "evil-variant-evil-yahaha-laugh" theme
Very simple answer is the "sky barrier" theory. Basically we don't see sky islands or light dragon because they are freakishly high up / behind impenetrable clouds/atmosphere layer (we see something similar in Skyward Sword where the path below has to open up before going down). When the zonai tech on the islands woke up, it quickly descended throught this "layer," causing much of the old structures to break and fall and probably getting the Light Dragon to come lower with all the sky islands (maybe because familiar "spoilery" reasons).
I didnt even know there was a light dragon until i got the last tear and it zoomed in on the light dragon
What I believe is that the Sky Islands and Dragon-Girlfriend weren't seen was because they were shifted to another spatial dimension, there, but not there. or " out of phase" if that's an easier concept. The Seal breaking was just a trigger that "told" it all to come back. Keep in mind, we were never really told or shown how these huge chunks of ancient architecture tore themselves free of the ground, and the only living Zonai who even REMOTELY understood what tech they had left, was painfully dying. But yeah, they were always there, just phase shifted or maybe even in The Golden Realm.
There’s one small detail, given in tears of the Kingdom, that hint of the fact that the light dragon was always there.
The silent princess.
The flower that is mentioned in breath of the wild by Zelda herself being an unusual plant that their scientists have been unable to cultivate.
Meaning, no matter how many times they try to grow the flower it never works .
That is because the flowers only grow in areas affected by the light dragon.
A good example is the final dragon tear.
After you observe the memory in it, they make a point of showing that the area around it has now sprouted silent, princess flowers.
I like the theory of quantum state time travel more than just the dragon being in the clouds
The light dragon is actually just really high up and doesn’t descend until the demon king come back
That's what he says at the end of the video
I like to belive that she was Waiting above the sky barrier until the islands began to float, then she descended
I just assumed the light dragon was in the depth hibernating
The time loop is secure. In BotW we see the three dragons disappear into the sky through a cloud portal. Despite the sky appearing clear, there's clearly some sort of cloud cover illusion. We see Zelda as the Light Dragon disappear into the sky when she transforms in the final tear/memory. When Ganondorf woke, the cloud barrier dispersed, which is why we can then see the Light Dragon AND the sky islands while we couldn't in BotW. The Light Dragon also stays high in the sky (high above where the cloud barrier would've been) until you retrieve the rejuvinated Master Sword from her head, at which point the Light Dragon begins flying lower to the ground.
This all supports a stable time loop. The only thing that isn't explained is why the tears/geoglyphs weren't visible in BotW but one can assume at some point they became dormant/hidden and reappeared when the events of the Upheaval occurred. Perhaps with the Light Dragon separated from the tears by the cloud barrier, they eventually faded away, giving enough time for the ancient civilization to see them and create the glyphs, and when the cloud barrier dispersed and the Light Dragon was visible again, the tears and glyphs awakened once again as well. That's my theory, at least.
That evil korok laugh at the end
My theory was when Zelda traveled back in time it created a new time line. Basically changing the history which led the sky islands to show, light dragon to be present, and likely other things
could also argue the sky barrier didn't break until the upheval
Also the sky islands could have been above the clouds above the ocean which would make it invisible like in SS. The light dragon flying around them. Then after the upheaval broke them apart in such a force that they spread out everywhere around the world.
I like to think it appeared as soon as the player sends the master sword back in time but if still is confusing as heck
Does anyone remember in BotW when you got a dragon part, the dragon would fly into the sky, and then it went through a weird break in the sky? It looks like a whirlpool. It seems like it goes to another dimension, maybe that's where Zelda Dragon went.
So this is a real concept! This is something I think about all the time but I’ve never looked into, how what a timeline looks like (at least when time travel is involved) depends entirely on whose perspective you’re looking at the timeline from. That’s why in a series where the viewer/player isn’t any one specific person and is just that, an outside viewer, it’s hard to determine which timeline is the “correct” one, because it changes depending on whose path you’re following.
The light dragon stayed above the clouds, as all the dragons disappeared when they went above the clouds. Case closed.
Now the master sword. THAT’S an interesting thought. Because during those 100 years + an indeterminate time before the calamity and after the calamity (so the timeframe between the end of BOTW and beginning of TOTK), the same master sword existed in the same place in time. One that Link got and protected Zelda with as the appointed knight (BOTW), and one that was destroyed and being repaired on the light dragon way above in the sky out of view. But they’re the same master sword because the sword link has in BOTW is repaired and protected at the korok forest those 100 years until he takes it up again. And then he presumably utilizes it between BOTW and TOTK before it’s damaged by Ganon-Corpse and sent back in time
She was always there, she just wasn’t pulled down until Ganondorf’s seal broke for the billionth time. Seriously, this guy can never stay sealed or dead, you’d almost think Demise gave this incarnation of his hatred immortality
it sure would be convenient if there was some kind of large cave system that you cant access in botw or something like that for the light dragon to hide in
I legit saw him get out off the chasms near one of the stables
When he said YA HA HA, I felt that
My idea was that time travel was like the dragon appeared as soon as Zelda went back in time but that wouldn’t make since since link hadn’t sent the master sword back in time yet
Saw a comment once that i loved, basically saying "the best lore implication added cus of the light dragon is that if Link had found her earlier he coulda duel wielded master swords against calamity Ganon"
If the Deku Tree could sense the location of the sword itself, did he know there was just a second Master Sword floating around somewhere?
This would have made for the perfect loop 💀
I thought when zelda traveled backwards a new time line was created but during the upheaval the time lines merged
Tick Tock Clock is such a vibe
I also think that the Sheikah shrines were deleted from the time line because of something Zelda did in the past, which is why no one mentions it in the game, everyone lost their memories about the Sheikah shrines, they never existed.
It’s a paradox like for example in season 2 of Lego ninjago garmendon used the ultimate weapon to create a portal to time travel they traveled through time to the pilot to stop him and they brought the golden weapons with them and to rid of the ultimate weapon they defeated garmadon and the golden weapons fused with the past golden weapons causing a paradox where they didn’t use the golden weapons
Dragon is just like sky islands above the cloud barrier
I thought it was because she was above the cloud barrier with the rest of the sky islands. Im pretty sure at the end of the great sky island we see her make her descent below alongside the rest of the sky islands
But in one of the memories or when you beat the game you see that she swallows one of the tears and becomes the light dragon
Never mind when she swallowed it in one of the memories the queen was with her so that makes sense what mr every thing 7056 was correct
The YA HA HA killed me
So where were the sky islands, the depths and all of the new monsters, gleeoks, boko bosses, froxes, queen gibdo, etc
I was thinking about this last night and I'm glad to see there's a video with exact same thing I was thinking
Never thought about the fact that BotW would be the only game that technically has 2 master swords existing at once.
That also means that there have been two master swords at the same time from SS to TotK.
I though Zelda was waiting underground, and only came out when the holes to the underground formed.
Fun fact: there was 2 zeldas and 2 master swords in botw
Does anyone remember how the 3 dragons from breath of the wild would go into this cloud-like portal and disappear?
Yeeaaahhh..... I remember that, 😲
So basically, there is no branch like in Marvel. There is an intersection where if you change the future, you change the past, like 2 spaghetti noodles, and then you keep doing that over and over then you got a bowl of spaghetti which is the multiverse so basically what I am try to say is that I think that we don't control the same link just a little different link who is BASICALLY the same link but not.
As someone who has only played skyward sword and is for some reason seeing these videos, I can confirm I only knew of the 3 dragons from skyward sword
oh,i actually have a theory about this one. my theory is that, due to the time shenanigans happening in the current TOTK timeline, zelda traveling back represents a split in the transfer from what comes before botw to botw. you see, there is a spin-off game that i largely regard as an "alternate canon",or a canon that could in theory happen. and the light dragon existing in this secondary botw timeline when zelda is about to die allows terrako to be turned on as a result of an excess of sacred energy needing to be dumped somewhere.
I mean, in BOTW we can't see the sky islands, couldn't be that bad to assume she was just chilling on a rock waiting to wake up, like Minaru said, you lose yourself and all controll when under the dragons form
I think the time travel works in Totk is when you go into the past, the future is change but but everyone’s memory stays the same up until the present. If I remember correctly, people in totk talked about the glyphs like they just appeared out of nowhere
No, it’s pretty much harry potter time travel (for lack of a better term). It was already decided that zelda would go back, as depicted by the wall at the start of the game. The mural was completed, talking about how zelda went back etc., but it was just covered.
I think we can confirm that the light dragon is above the clouds in Botw because in the cutscene where Zelda turns into the light dragon, she flies above the clouds
It’s impossible for it to make sense. A paradox. This is always the problem with time travel scenarios… but they seem to love to use them, especially in Japan lol
that would mean that the characters aren’t confused by the light dragon (which i don’t think they are), or by the geoglyphs (which they def are)
Could also be that link was unable to see the light dragon before totk as certain creatures like the dragons and Koroks seem to not be able to be seen by all people. So maybe something activated after the starting events of totk allowing link to see the light dragon?
The yahaha at the end💀
I think it appeared like geoglyphs when Zelda disappeared
That end was SO smooth
Isn’t the Light Dragon just above the sky barrier that the dragons disappeared to in BOTW? In TOTK, with the Upheaval and revealing of the sky islands, my theory is that the sky barrier was removed and the skylands and Light Dragon could be seen without the cloudy barrier in the way
It's one of two things realistically, how bro says, but withth3 addition of this being the first occurrences of the time loop in which the changes don't happen until Zelda goes back in time from Links POV like bro said. basically making it so where she wasn't there but was at the same time.
Or the dragon was always there just flying around well... God knows where, could've been in Hyrule, could've been Under hyrule, could've been up up high with the sky islands where we couldn't see them in BOTW, or even in nother continents/areas. its a freaking Dragon that's guarding and replenishing the MASTER SWORD, it's not gonna be in sight unless it's needed
Basically, Link ended up in the timeline where Zelda was sent to the past
The BOTW timeline can be seen as the base timeline while the other games, AOC for example, are in different timelines.
Basically, good luck to Matpat to try and figure out which timeline the BOTW trilogy is set in
i like to think she was just flying too high to see! because at the beginning of totk she flights as high as the main sky island, but as the story progresses she’ll fly lower (so link can retrieve the master sword). in botw it was too early to fly too low!
Zelda went back in time so when we sent the master sword back in time zelda ate a secret stone to fix the master sword
So for what i understood, it is of this way. In breath of the wild all that happened in tears of the kingdoom hasn't happened yet, once zelda time travel the history happens again up to the point when it convergents, basically, the dragon existed in the version of breath of the wild that the zelda of tears of the kingdoom lived, but no in the one that link lived, with the ligth dragon beggining to exist in the universe of link of breath of the wild once the events of tears of the kingdoom begin to happen
The light dragon was in Botw, and yes it also had the master sword, which means that there was two master swords in existence during botw but now its only one again because you send the master sword to zelda in the past, and the sword you get later in the game is the one that was already in zeldas position for thousands of years, I don't know if you guys can understand me though😂
She just chills in the sky islands cuz we can't see that in botw
Asleep in the depths is my guess
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the light dragon is apart of the great sky island at the beginning of the game. Wouldn't the better answer be that she appeared with it. Afterall, npcs state that everything in the sky just suddenly appeared after Link and Zelda went under the castle. Plus all three of the great dragons have names. The hylians and others know ledgends and lore of them to at least know their names. Since the Light Dragon does not have one, to me that proves more that she came with the sky islands.
Hear me out. At some point she got trapped in the depths. Then when the upheaval happened and all those holes appeared she broke free and now she could fly around again. That’s why her path mainly sticks to the sky islands because she doesn’t want to get stuck again. Although this is just my theory.
Epic Theory: she was in the dragon portal thing where the other dragons come from and go to
That was such a smooth loop
Just going to say if it's that she's been above the clouds the whole time, Is there a chance we can get some time travel shenanigans in the dual wield master swords cuz that'd be pretty hype
Makes sense the light dragon was Actually hanging out with Rayquaza
Ethier above where we could have seen her or she got somehow stuck in the depths.
Please increase the music volume, I can almost hear you!
I like to think that there can only be 1 master sword and 1 zelda in a specific time, but that only really works if its linear
