Dennis Brown - Live At Montreux

- Dennis Emmanuel Brown belongs to that elite band of reggae artists who have succeeded in achieving a true international stardom. Often hailed today as "Bob Marley's favourite singer". Dennis Brown has managed not only to achieve elusive chart success with 'Money In My Pocket', but has also regularly performed in the United Kingdom and Europe.
This footage captures the artist at the peak of his performing ability during his considerable run of chart successes in 1979. He performed with the outstanding 'We The People' made up of the cream of the Jamaican session world.
In the midst of this chaos, the tranquility of Montreux and it's superb annual festival was a welcome relief and became a special moment as these recordings clearly show. Dennis played two shows that night sharing the bill with Peter Tosh and it was only too clear that Dennis Brown had arrived in the minds of the European audiences. The second show continued way into the night and ended with both artists and their musicians on stage together.
This footage captures the best of this concerts and as such is a classic not only or reggae fans, but for all contemporary music audiences.

I was there and saw the entire 'Nuit Reggae' in Montreux, with Steelpulse, Dennis Brown and Peter Tosh. What an event and I am very thankful it's all recorded and posted here!
Monstrueux qu elle chance
You are a lucky man !
Wow, you're so Lucky. I wish I could've been there with you Man. I've seen Steel Pulse Twice. I was supposed to go see Peter Tosh in 87. My Roommate was in Law School and he was a Waiter at The Hotel Restaurant where Peter Tosh stayed. My friend waited on him. Most all the Musicians Stayed at The Vernon Manor Hotel when they were Playing at this Club in Cincinnati Ohio near the University of Cincinnati Campus. I also got to see Ziggy Marley Twice. Stephen and KY-Mani Marley Damien Marley in Lake Worth Florida, in 2008. One time I was listening to Peter Tosh while I was wrapping up flower Bouquets at my Flower Stand in Boca Raton Florida when I was living down there and a Lady came up to me and told me that she went to School with Peter Tosh. You just never know who you're going to meet?
Lucky man!

Listening to Dennis Brown now singing Witchita Lineman..so he was 15 yrs old when he recorded this song in 1972.
Nobody comes close to Dennis. Zero! easily the greatest reggae artist and arguably the greatest singer of all times.

JAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Y que buenos músicos
@28:25 Big ups to the Drummer and the pianist who kept the beats going for a the other band members to dance around sweeping the audience into a frenzy...what a concert!!!
This is exactly what live band does and should always do! You see it also in Third World, Steele Pulse and the Wailers. Keen insightfulness! These men use to dance in the good old gospel church.
Phenomenal Crown Prince
Such heart in his voice 💛
Lloyd Parks & We The People, featuring Dean Fraser & the Ras Brass. Every one of these musicians is famous in their own right. The keyboard player, Bubbler Waul, went on to be an awesome producer. Bo Peep played guitar with the Xterminator Band in the 90s - played on Luciano's classics, Bushman's first album etc. Chinna of course played guitar with Bob Marley & The Wailers. Dean Fraser and Nambo are probably the 2 most recorded horn players in Jamaican music, playing on basically everything through the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
This is the best raggea show I have seen from D/B

All the tracks were primarily taken from three (3) albums. They were "Words of Wisdom" (1979) "Wolves and Leopard" (1978) and "Visions of Dennis Brown" (1976). Dennis might have been around 22 at the time of this Great Concert.
