I was there I remember that yellow suit and after he left the stage some rasta men were fanning him with cardboard because he was sweating so much. Those were the best days. Regae sunsplash at Bob Marley Center in Montego Bay.
Another great superhero, Dennis Emmanuel Brown. My superhero, they don't have a cape, they have dreadlocks. They don't have super powers, their super powers are singing praises to JAH. THE GREAT CROWNED PRINCE OF REGGAE DENNIS EMMANUEL BROWN ((((MAXIMUM RESPECT))))
Wish I was lucky enough to see him perform. What a beautiful soul. His voice is like no other. My parents used to go to sunsplash and they said people would sleep during the night waiting for Denis Brown to come on in the morning. And as soon as he hit the stage they were wide awake and dancing. My dad stopped going after he died. He was so personable and always smiled. Never too rough and tough to smile with people. What a great ambassador he was for reggae music.
You summed up a man who was a beautiful soul. He is my favorite artist in the world. I had 85 of his vinyl albums and countless singles. Plus two dubplates special. I bought everything Dennis Brown...he was in a class by himself in so many ways. What a voice...so effortless. Nothing but love. His amicable demeanor was incompatible.
Every since these great men, wonderful souls left us physically, spiritually the island of Jamaica has lost, it's sense of history Rastafari consciousness put Jamaica on the world stage Thanks to Yah for all our greatest, ambassadors, I can't even start to call name's Therefore I'll start with Marcus Garvey, and each and every reggae artists, one love always
He was one of a kind sorry you never got the chance, he was a very special Cusin to me and the family never gad a frown always smiling, i.an Luke you dad stop going after his passing, I keep his memory by going back to these take and even seeing myself going crazy at the shows ❤️ 💙
I saw him in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland (with Peter Tosh, 1979) and in Jamaica. He was really unique because he had such a warm-hearted personality. You felt happy in his presence because he radiated so much joie de vivre.
In this era ..reggae was the best ..it had the best artist best best..the rhythm was different from today...I love that old school beat .WHEN I SAW DENNIS BROWN LIVE IN SAN DIEGO AT THE HOSPITALY POINT..REGGAE BY THE BAY...HE STARTED OUT WITH THIS SONG....THE PROMISED LAND ....IT WAS AMAZING....RIP DENNIS BROWN ..
Definitely agree 100% - Dennis Brown, Gregory, Freddie, Johnny Osbourne, sugar Minott, Cocoa Tea, Al Campbell, too many to mention. I took them for granted at the time.
Dennis was only 30 yrs old still a young man, and he had a sleuth of monster hits, the album inseperable was done the same year and he didn't even touch one track on his arguably his finest work to date on one record, with Lloyd Parks on bass and Sly Dunbar on drums. D. Brown my ultimate vocal idol
One of DEBS finest performance, backed by the legendary Lloyd Parkes and we the people band, we could not ask for a better combination. DEB ripping off hits after hits. The entire audience eating from the palm of his hand.
