Peter Tosh and his band Word, Sound and Power were indescribable. The first time I heard "Pick Myself Up" from the Mystic Man album, I was walking home from school. The music was blaring from a nearby house. I was only nine years old at the time, in my third year of primary school and with very rudimentary English. Despite this, Tosh's music spoke to me on a deep level. I was so moved that I stopped and turned back, walking into a stranger's yard to ask about the music. The young man playing the vinyl explained that it was reggae and Jamaican music. I sat on the front lawn in his front yard and listened to the Bush Doctor album on repeat for hours. My family and neighbours were concerned and organised a search party to find me. They eventually discovered me sitting on the lawn, completely captivated by Tosh's music. Even today, more than 40 years later, every time I hear a song from the Bush Doctor album, I am immediately transported back to that same feeling of captivation that I felt as a child...
😢😢😢😢 woooooow can just imagine your poor little heart one love straight from the heart stay strong knowing only love shall live on that's the greatest thing in life bless up yourself always in the eyes of God 😢😢😢😢

+bob of zimbabwe That's your opinion and I respect it. My opinion is that Bob is the most advertised or marketed. His colour was a huge advantage too. In terms of rhythm and apt messages I prefer Peter. He doesn't speak in parables. Always straight to the point, which is why he did not sell well. The Matrix will sell anyone that favours it's strangulating and racist system, just as they marketed Michael Jackson who felt the black man's nose is inferior to the White's I don't see anything special in Michaels or Bob's songs. If Peter had Caucasian heritage his story would have been different. Again its only my opinion, not my religion.
+mukhtar akpopirebo are you serious bob Marley was not marketed well at all his music was banned on most stations in the us songs like war, who the cap fit, Africa unite, Zimbabwe, ambush in the night and as for parables tosh's songs where no more complexed then bobs well runs dry was a love song and brand new second hand was talking about a loose woman so if you are to have a opinion have a factual one
+bob of zimbabwe Like I said, it's a matter of perspectives. I love both Bob and Peter, the former for his melodies and the latter for his forthright lyrics. On those songs you mentioned they were well understood by Peter's target audiences and there is nothing like hidden meanings there. Peter also had his fair share of bannings and even beatings that Bob never experienced. There is no exaggeration in saying that Peter was as good as Bob though not as popular. i personally dont equate excellence with popularity.

Tosh is an amazing front man and this band is smokin. He died so young. He knew many wanted him dead. He gave his life for what he believed instead of changing.
Duly noted me friend...I saw Peter live at the Roxy in LA in the late 70s when 'Wanted' was released. He emerged from the curtain wearing a white tuxedo with tails and a top hat! The Roxy is an intimate venue, so the band was bare bones. They were terrific and yes, in that moment, 'Tosh was at his best and I will always cherish the memories of that performance! Jah Rastafari!!!

He was right and visionary about so many things. Prophetic. I wish he could have lived to see the actualization of his visionary dreams coming true today as we live & breathe. He is timeless and powerful and profound and unapologetic. Full of revolutionary insistence but full of grace too. I hope the stars in his eyes look down from the skies and are synthesized in great realization, validation and glory vindication. My heart is bursting with love and appreciation for Peter Tosh today, on this 15th day of March 2023. When I grow up I want to dance like Peter Tosh!!!!
