can't believe how loud the rx7 is if it's audible over the sound of a helicopter!
That can be, but it looks like the right door isn't fully closed. When Madbull is on the right the sound doesn't change from left to right in my head phones and the heli sound is center.
From someone who used to live next to both a dragstrip and an airforce base, the loudness of a competitive rotary dragster/top fueler is comparable to an f/18 flying over. so yes, this doesn't surprise me.
We had a practice round a few years ago. a friend of my use to drift a rwd WRX. Being a passenger in the WRX I could hear Mad Mike's rx7 screaming behind us it's loud bro

This helicopter pilots skill is awesome, I love how he is whipping it around like the car is doing.
The skills required to fly a heavily loaded helicopter like that close to ground and obstacles far exceeded drifting up a mountain. Awesome footage.

I practice on all kinds of sims and do RC as well. I can assure you that drifting a car within boundaries like this guy is harder than flying a helicopter like that.

The second half of the video I was almost having babies! Had to rewatch for the drift to be honest.

this is incredible. all the things required for something like this to be pulled off is insane, the heli pilot flying close to the ground, the camera man, the guy actually drifting. its just crazy to me..

I know that road! In 2018 and 2019 I did it a heap of times in several small hire cars. Heading out of Queenstown it goes from flowing hills to tight switch-backs up to the over-look area. Some nice trails there. Then the re-done section in this vid with wineries etc on the way into Wanaka. Love to do it in my MX5 on a moonlit night with no traffic... some awesome little sections through that newer bit.
I was there was May one year, June the next. Clear and grippy both years but that can change fast over there. Lots of speed zone changes and slow traffic. I could have safely driven a little harder but had a concern about finding tourists on the wrong side of the road... Queenstown is an international airport where people will collect hire cars... could be their first time driving on the other side.
