@@lootgoblinmarketplace something that I found odd was the "ok I glad I didn't have to say it" part because it implies that iris either
1 has a small amount of guilt whenever she puts SA on a campaign
      Or
2 gets embarrassed whenever she talks about this stuff but not so much that she would want to stop

Yeah, there are a lot of weird encounters but that one with Mr. Egg seemed to be forced the most because even with the Barbarian character actively pushing back it kept escalating. Most the other situations where ones where the DM claimed something happened and it was too late to push back. Even though this player stood their ground for a while the DM pushed so much they gave in twice (once to make the roll and another to accept what was done).

or maybe she's not actually ace, and instead is only interested in doing weird stuff like non-con (to anyone other than herself probably), which she obviously can't recreate irl, so she just uses dnd and abuses people
either that or the "ace" aspects of her life are only caused due to psychological stuff, but that's a tricky topic

@@samuelsalvatore4511Or she was an ace that had just figured out they were ace recently and _still_ had all their preconceived notions about sex that they'd built up over the years (ex : sex isn't actually enjoyable or it's painful so to get to the point where you'll like it you need to force yourself for years, nobody actually asks for consent or nobody would consent, don't enter someone's bedroom unless you're ready to have sex because it's gonna happen either way).
I just listened to the first 2 Iris videos and she's absolutely foul, but I'm not gonna jump into assuming she's not ace as she reminds me of how I used to think about these things for like a year before learning what asexuality was.
That's no excuse for her keeping this up after the players made it clear that they were uncomfortable tho.

The second she broke the Fade to Black rule she should of been on ice, outright SA should have gotten her sternly talked to and given a warning that if she does it again she's out and that's being nice. Even without being non-confrontational, the "paralysis" part of any human's reaction to a scary/shocking stimulus still plays a big role and prevents even the confrontational or brave individuals to not be able to do anything.

Being ace is no excuse or shield from being uncomfortably sexual with people who did not consent to it, and Iris really needs to consider their actions. Like, im ace, and those would be such horrific situations to have my character put in, especially from another ace person who had rules in place about stopping exactly that kind of behavior.

Games with lots of sex don't even have to be creepy. If it just so happens that all the players are interested in including it, and all their ground rules are followed, it can be another fun element of the game! Yet Iris seems to either be convinced that sex is always brutal and unpleasant, or get some kind of icky satisfaction out of making players uncomfortable. Stepping over players' boundaries over and over is one of the reddest flags I can think of.

  • @nathanpetrich7309
    @nathanpetrich7309 Год назад +6

For some asexual people, sex is inherently forced on them. Thinking about sex, being reminded that sex exists, seeing advertisements that are clearly capitalizing on sex, etc. They feel marginalized by it, and as many others have pointed out, they may have experienced SA or other traumas.
None of this really explains why she'd bring it to the table. SA survivors inherently understand the vulnerability involved in talking about it, and they know it often makes other people uncomfortable.
The best motivation I can guess for Iris is that she was vindictive over society forcing thoughts of sex on her all the time, and decided to put the party through the same. Pretty rotten, tbh-that's not going to teach people any sympathy for aces. It sends a very confusing message.

it sounds to me like Iris has a complex about sex, probably from trauma, hence why she controls the players ability to express or explore sexuality in the game the way they want, while simultaneously forcing them to explore her own sexual plots even though it's expressly against the group's rules to do so. Sounds like she's dealing with her trauma by forcing that trauma on to others, which is not okay.

You can hope that she gets help, however, it's people like Iris that give us a bad reputation. ... I dont like making arm chair diagnosis, but it seriously sounds like something awful happened to Iris in the past and she is expressing it, very inappropriately, in her campaign worlds
She is clearly cognizant that SA is wrong, but for whatever reason seems bent on displaying ALL sex as SA, and even normalizing it.
It sounds like she has a very, deeply, unhealthy idea of what sex is and some ingrained issues with men/male bodied people as she seems to default assume that all men are rapists. (In fairness there's not a good sample of Iris's fem characters, but Clementine seems to he completely oblivious to the concept that Psychic's character wouldn't want to have sex)
I ecspecially hesitate to say this with anyone of an alternative sexuality, since there is a horrible stereotype that these individuals were all victims of SA (though there is data that suggests that in more conservative communities these individuals do experience SA at increased rates, because they are socially isolated.)
If I was Iris's friend I would be deeply concerned that someone had raped her as a child.
Whatever is going on I am glad this group got the hell away but it is surprising that it took them so long.
And yeah, I agree with the assessment that the reason for the campaign shuffling might have been because it veered off of Iris's pre ordained script.
(For context I work in education, and I am trained to look for these sorts of behaviors. If Iris was a student in my care I would recomend her for counseling. I don't know if this wouldn't rigger my mandated reporter status, but my instinct would also be to report potential child abuse. (It sounds like Iris was an adult when this happened, but still.)

I can say that since most of the stories were related with you know, NSFW without consent, that perhaps the DM has kind of a bad idea of... you know, those activities? Like most of the times in the campaign are like without player/character consent that they get into that kind of scenes.
Like if the DM has something against sex and is trying to say by DMing, ok guys, this is bad, I don't like it... I don't know, just think maybe it would be a good idea to try to calm the DM a bit and talk about the things, because oh boy
