    You absolutely can charge your phone while recording to SSD. The Apple AV USB C adapter works great! And can provide an HDMI clean feed out. The usbc is power pass though. Originally made for the iPad. Now works great on the iphone 15 pro.

      @@thefilmalliance I believe any adapter will work, the trick is having at least 20w of power outputting to your phone. Make sure the adapter or battery is capable of handling that.

    I love the iPhone camera and have the 14 Pro but realistically the only one that I found useful over an actual camera was cinematic mode for short form content. It’s easy and you can adjust focus in post

    As usual, the answers I can't find anywhere, I can only find on Film Alliance (many thanks for this). For sure, Iphone 15 Pro is the first real game changer in the PRO field, but it still has some big limitations. I've never had an iPhone, but if I understand correctly the direction it took, the next model could really push me to buy it (personally, I hope most for the introduction of the 1 inch sensor).

      Thanks for the nice words. I agree on its limitations but it’s a step forward in the right direction. I’m looking forward to see what the 16 Pro delivers.

    Lots of good tips in this video. Excellent work Film Alliance! I film for 90% phone viewers, so I always render and view on the phone to see what they see. It helps a lot. BTW, what music do you use? The soundtrack perfectly augments the video!

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for that. I use Track Club for all my music because you can pick and choose different stems from the songs to make the soundtrack more customizable.

    Great video. Considering that the iPhone has been used to make a few feature films in the past, Steven Soderbergh comes to mind, the new iPhone 15 Pro and the Blackmagic camera app might make for a good pairing. For myself, I would still stick to my FX30.
    This past weekend, Sony had an event at the local Samy's Camera store here in Los Angeles. It was mainly focused on photography, but I went because I knew I could borrow an a6700 and shoot footage with my own SD card. Even though the a6700 doesn't have Cine EI, I still shot in ISO 800 and 2500. And the footage was very clean in both ISO's. So, I might very well end up getting the a6700 as a b-cam to my FX30. Also, I was also thinking about the a6700 because of the reframing feature that makes it look like someone is filming you. And for my solo short films, that would be great. Anyway, thanks again for a well thought out video.

      That’s cool. Yes I like the reframing feature on the a6700 as a Bcam for one man bands. Thanks for filling me in on that Sony event. Sounds fun. I’m happy you got to film with the a6700. I love that camera. It would make a great Bcam to your FX30

    Nice video. especially because I find it right to say that we need to go back to reality every now and then and leave aside all the hype that other presentations add. in the end a phone always has the quality of a phone. it's true it has improved over the years but a camera remains a camera and a phone remains a phone

    If you are doing still or video photography on a "high level", I would suggest getting one of the Sony phones. I have been using an Xperia 10 iii myself and have kept a loose watch on a number of phones, and I do think that the Xperia phones really are closer in output to the Sony cameras in particular, and more generally, also to other major brand cameras. The upper line Sony phones (V series and I series) come with good camera control apps. Using "MotionCam" or perhaps another 3rd party app can extend these controls, or just give an alternative interface. The results are not necessarily "better". That is a matter of taste. But I can see an advantage to having a bit more consistency between your phone's cameras and whatever "real" camera you are using.

    I've had an SE, 7Plus and now an 11 iPhone. I've always been pretty happy with the camera performance, but I am not an expert on photography. I just know what I think looks good and what doesn't. lol! This was super helpful in deciding wether to upgrade to a 15 yet. I've decided to wait. I'm happy to see you using a sandisk ssd! I just bought one as a 2nd backup for my videos and photos. I had a My Passport 3TB external hardrive and it failed on me last spring. Talk about devastating!! Lost so much video footage that I hadn't even touched yet for YT. And, after getting it looked at by a pro, was told it would cost me potentially $1000s to have it saved. Yikes! The Sandisk SSD was recommended as there are no moving parts to fail and it's a lot tougher.
    Thanks so much for this video! It has cleared up a lot of my questions on the iPhone15 for me!

    Thanks for another great video. I would love to see a video about how you color grade the iPhone footage. I have been considering this camera as I am going on a trip to another country where I am limited with video gear. I was going to take my Sony a7r4 and 6600 but with a gimbal and all the other needed gear it was too much. I have now been considering the 15pro max and my current 13pro max along with some moment lens/beastage/and more to have a smaller setup. your videos have been a huge help thinking it through.

    This is a GREAT video! Subscribed 😊 My question, what made you choose the 15 Pro over the Pro Max? I’m a beginner to photography / videography and was debating between the two…For reference I take a lot of both at concerts…The Pro Max has that 5x and better battery but wanted your POV. Thank you for your time!

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you, I chose the Pro because of the size difference. I’m not into telephoto shots, so it was an easy choice for me.

    • @MatthewVlossak
      @MatthewVlossak 10 месяцев назад

      @@thefilmalliance I barely use the telephoto lens on my Pro now so I agree! I didn’t want to fall into Apple’s marketing hype. Having said that, I have the 14 Pro. Seems the photo quality looks better with HDR5 and the LOG option is tempting. Would you recommend the upgrade? Also, I am a social media manager so I’m thinking in terms of longevity as well. Thanks again for your time and insight!

    At 11:47, your hands had different colors, textures. Is this because of A7S3 locking on to your face? Would newer Sony able to have both reach-out hands and your face in focus?

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  10 месяцев назад

      @@thefilmalliance ZV-E1 and i guess the newer Sony A series can focus on two sets of eyes very well. But in the case of both hands and eyes, that means a lot more stopping down. I wonder if Sony would care about this situation. hmm
