What grit sandpaper do you use for bondo on a steel door? I just purchased a house and the previous owners used bondo on it and never finished it, my palm sander isn't making a dent to smooth out the bondo so I must be using the wrong grit?
120 grit is the lowest one should use for doors and will work to remove the Bondo or layered paint. After that use 240 or 320 before painting for a smooth surface. I’m doing my door tmrw
I liked everything about this video, except for the destruction of that beautiful brass door fixture. Did you really have to destroy it? Just because it was popular in the 1980s, doesn't mean it's BAD! You could easily have sold it to somebody who wants that high quality, heavy brass that you probably can't buy anymore, and bought a new brushed nickel fixture. I'm sure that paint is going to wear off pretty damn quickly, and you're going to be left with a scratched up, paint-peeling brass door fixture in no time.
You’re hilarious and actually a great teacher
Amazing job!!! Very clear and detailed explanations. You are what I call a handyman.
Thanks bud. Never thought about bondo. Got a door delivered from Home Depot pre-dented for me. I didn’t have the energy to complain. This will do it.
You just don't know how much this video helped me. I don't know why I didn't think about bondo. Thank you!
Ha. Great video. Humor, technique, right to the point.
The monologue in this shoot was akin to that of a Reservoir Dogs or Chasing Amy. Exquisitely done my friend.
Great video. Clear instruction. Thank you.
If you wear a respirator with a vapor cartridge to mix your Bondo… go ahead and wear a respirator with a particulate cartridge when you sand it!
Awesome video!! Thank you for being so funny, and great info to help me with the wife’s list this weekend:)
Thanks for sharing my good sir! Cheers! 🍻
Lol! No beer is always "The Problem".

Dont sand bondo maskless. Dust is toxic..

Can you do this with a storm door too

Is there any product ( finishing) to protect the paint from bad weather and scratches?

You can always just strip it and repolish it
Probably would have had better luck sanding it to bare steel before starting your repair 👍
