I am watching the show for the first time and just finished the episode. I think this was definitely one of my favorite moments from the show, it was the first time we saw that Klaus had a humanity too, he could be compassionate if that makes sense. Granted he was the reason he got bit and i am not excusing that but so far the world of Vampire Diaries is full of characters where no one is really good and no one is really bad, they are all just flawed people.
This scene always reminds me of that scene in Troy, when Achilles tells Briseis that the gods envy humans. It's the turning point when the 'villian' becomes hero. When true love begins to bloom and a connection, understanding and friendship blossoms
