John Mayer may be a better interviewer than a musician.... and he is an AMAZING musician..........such thoughtful and deep questions..... and he listens.....Fantastic Job!
Huge thanks to siriusxm for giving a whole podcast to John,he always has accurate and never obvious questions which make him a great host as well as an amazing artist.
Wow. This is one of the best interviews that I have ever seen between John Mayer and Billy Joel. I have listened to the entire interview and it was awesome. I also got some great news for a lot of Billy Joel fans out there so here goes. Well, it looks like that Billy Joel has delighted his fans once again with another brand new song which is actually a very small unfinished piece of piano solo that has been previously unheard for years now. In his latest appearance on John Mayer’s new SiriusXM show called How’s Life, the host asked Billy Joel if he had any parts of an unfinished song that he would like his viewers to hear and he proceeded to demonstrate the unheard music. This piece of music is titled "Every Time" and I hope that he works it into another brand new song of original materials in the pop/rock genre with lyrics to it. Billy Joel should record it at the recording studio and release it as another new single through Columbia Records label. It would be really awesome if we could get a follow up to "Turn The Lights Back On" and so forth. I sure do hope that there will be more new songs by Billy Joel and let's keep our fingers crossed. Let's pray that his first new single that he just released this year in 2024 titled "Turn The Lights Back On" is not a one-off thing and that it is definitely the beginning for more new materials. Otherwise, great interview by John Mayer.
So exciting to see John Mayer reach this pinnacle. As much of a master musician as he is, his multi-faceted talents are shining brightly to dazzle us even more. Love it. Love him. Go John go!!
I happened to be working while he was performing last time in Denver. Set up and tear down. Being the world class musician that he is -they all sounded amazing! He looked, however, miserable. Just a blank face as they pumped out great sounding hit after hit. The crowd didn't care. They danced and sang all night long. I'll always be a fan.
Uh, as kinda an intermediate musician myself, what da f is a " minor 4 chord", John? Do you mean a sub-dominant chord that is minor? Because if you're talking about a " minor four" interval, there's no such thing. A " flattened" fourth is actually a major third.
he's talking about a modal interchange, borrowing the fourth chord form the minor scale (not the minor relative). So basically making the 4 chord of the tone minor (in C, F minor instead of F major)
Whoever produces this show, please fix the position of one of the cameras to make it look like John and his guest are facing each other. The current positioning makes it look like they are facing the same basic direction and not looking at each other.
Ye it’s great to hear an interview , when the guy doin it knows has an understanding about songwriting and music, and most of all asking relevant questions, than some of these brain dead’s that do interviews, 👍

Sirius is completely irrelevant to, and unnecessary in the equation.

You can tell Billy Joel knows he’s talking to someone who gets it.
