    I ran a Trencher installing tile drain for 4 years installing from 6'''' down to 2.5'' with a laser system and we would sometimes have to lay pipes with .1% fall, and at 44yard spacing with gravel on top of the pipe. after the initial placing ofdrains the water table is kept lower so the drains never run full

    The majority of the water flows through the stone, the pipe is merely there for overflow when the trench fills up, then water is flowing through both pipe and Trench...

      Yes, in places where they add stone in the trench there is definitely an increase in capacity. In our area and in our soil types they very seldom add stone for farm drainage. Most of the tile around here is plowed in without stone. In some soil types, stone is the only option.

      Got it. We lived in Marine clay soil, the death of all systems.
      Need tons of drainage stone...
