Have any of you girls experience and good or bad stuff going off birth control?
Love Sweat Fitness I have switched several birth control pill brands to find what works best for me because some really made me breakout and others made me breakthrough bleed too much. I think it’s all about finding the right birth control for you. I need it but some pills I definitely had horrible cystic acne! I cannot emphasize enough that different pills have different amounts of different hormones and you have to find what works for you if you personally need birth control.
Soo agree! There are so many options for birth control and they are not cookie cutter. Ultimately, I chose the implant as it is progesterone-based and my body is already responding to it soooo much better than the pill. I felt like a monster on the pill. Turns out?? I have low progesterone and normal estrogen levels (uncommon). Now I feel balanced again....TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL LADIES. Love your Ob/GYN!
Didn't get my period for 4 months
It's been a year since I'm off & my cycle is still not regulated :/
My skin has been so bad since going off of birth control. I have never had acne in my life until now like horrible cystic acne and i don’t know what to do about it since I only use non toxic ingredient face products. Any suggestions? I have lost my self confidence Bc of my skin freaking out at all times.
I love that you talked about the sex drive, NOBODY ever does! And it is super common, so thank you!
Love these comments! But... nobody needs to apologize or say it’s TMI. This is a normal bodily function to be celebrated, not hidden and whispered about. If men had periods too, they’d teach this stuff in preschool
Agreed!
I lost 20lbs the first month after I got my implant implanon out. I feel so much better I was sick almost everday and the bleeding for weeks at a time really sucked. Now I'm back to a regular cycle. And definitely better sex drive. Went 3 rounds with hubby this morning. ♥️
How long did it take for your cycle to come back? Sorry to be so straight forward I'm just trying to figure out when the heck mine will be back!?!
Rachael Lutz it’s different for everyone
Yess, I thought I was the only person that experienced the bleeding for weeks. It’s terrible because I’m a teenager & I feel like I can’t live a normal life.
@@rachaellutz8400 right away I got pregnant within two months
I get mine removed next week! I hope this happens! I gained 12 lbs on it
I've been on the pill since I was 16! Ten years now....my new pack started Monday and I haven't taken it. I'm glad you posted this video and look forward to seeing similar results
did u experience alot of acne?
I love how she look like she’s talking to her best friend!!!
Here's to hormone free and reclaiming our bodies as women 😊❤
I agree! I wish everyone was educated on birth control!
I've been thinking about doing this. I think the pill is messing with me
Jessica Cunningham check out the app Natural Cycles!
Jessica Cunningham I have the implant and gain so much weight and felt unstable so I decided today to make a appointment to get it removed
i’ve gained an unhealthy amount of weight by taking the pill. i’m considering going off it because of insecurities but my flow will get heavier and my cramps will only get worse. there’s no win win situation unfortunately
Gabby Sokolowski I’m in the same boat as you. I have the worst cramps when I’m on my period. But when I started birth control I can tell I’ve gained weight and I seem angry and somewhat sad everyday. I wanna stop the pill but I don’t want horrible acne (I’ve never had acne before but i just don’t want my skin that bad).
@@ashleyevi9185 same here, I definitely became more sad and anxious!
Went off HBC over three years ago and it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made! I love knowing what’s going on with my body, and my mind has changed for the better - I feel more myself. My hubby is totally on board with whatever is best for my health, and our communication has brought us closer than ever! 💕
Love that!
Yes! I was on the pill from 15-23 and although the first year off of it from 23-24 was brutal (acne!!!!!!!!), it passed and I will never look back! I love myself hormone-free, I feel like ME.
Thanks for talking on this ! More girls need to know about this.
Love your TMI videos. I too went off of Birth control (pills) about 10 years after starting to take them and it has been life changing, especially the part of feeling the cycles my body goes through. I have the copper IUD now because I don't plan on having babies any time soon and it has been a great choice because is non-hormonal.
I’m glad you’re open to talking about this! I also went on birth control, as a teen, to control acne and periods. My mother was terrified I would get Endometriosis if I didn’t go on the pills. 🙄 I’ve been off and on BC throughout the years, also tried Nuvaring. In my twenties, Nuvaring cleared up my skin and made my periods almost non-existent. Now, in my 30s, Nuvaring started giving me migraines. I switched back to the pill. I really want to get off of it. I have 3 wonderful boys, so my hubby and I are satisfied with our family size. So I admire you for taking the steps to get off the pill! Thanks for sharing your experience! And Yay! Summer Shape Up! God bless you❣️💪🤗🎉🎊
Yay SSU!
Birth control can decrease testosterone in the body by up to fifty percent, so going off may make people leaner simply because they have more of an ability to build muscle. Love the video, new subscriber! :)
So glad you are loving the videos! Welcome :)
I never regretted stopping the pill. Because my body changed. But other method of protection is still key!
Literally all the same things happened to me when I stopped using birth control-I feel amazing!
20 years ago, I went off birth control after having been on it for a decade. it's like my mind woke up, I realized all the mistakes I had made, including unfortunately marrying the wrong person. I ended up divorcing, starting my life over with a new mind, my life only got better. Like you said, I went from a smooth even keel of bland nothingness to a world of exciting emotions. ...What it actually is like to be a real female, lol, The Good and the bad.
And yes I could feel when everything in my cycle happened. I didn't even need birth control because I could just tell when I was fertile etc. Over the past 20 something years, I have had five children basically when I wanted to, and none when I did not want to, let's just say, without artificial birth control. It's the most empowering thing.
I also want to say that when I stopped birth control, and I felt it leave my system, my appetite and eating style went back to what naturally should be. I lost probably 30 lb, basically without trying. And I stayed at that size, except when pregnant. As a matter of fact, each time I weaned a child, and my body returned to normal hormonally, I experienced the same thing, I basically hormonely went back to my normal state, and lost any excess pregnancy weight easily and naturally. For some reason for me, birth control makes me 30 lb heavier!
Did you track fertility?
Jenny Lory i gained like 40 lbs on this birth control… your post gives me so much hope 😭
@@JennyLory I totally understand you.I stop taking the pill.I started to hate man,i dont want to get married, everything bothets me...and libido doesn't exist..
Wow!! The best experience! Can you say more on how you managed to not get pregnant? 👀 lol taking notes 📝
I went on Mirena after having my daughter. It was my first time ever on birth control and it was god awful. I had so many health issues. I HAVE to practice natural birth control because of my experience with Mirena. I didn’t feel in tune to my body at all being on birth control. I can feel when I’m ovulating, when my period is coming on, etc. and I like it that way. It makes me feel like I have a sense of self.
Thanks for being so open!!! I’m going off the pill after 7 years when I finish my current packet, and I found your video super insightful! Greetings from Germany!
Hi back to Germany! :) hope it goes well for u!
Did you end up coming off? If so how'd it go
The sex drive thing makes sense. I’ve been on BC for as long as I can remember and I always thought I just had a low sex drive and that was that, but maybe the BC is doing something behind the scenes that I didn’t think about
Thank you for doing a follow up video about this! I'm almost done reading the book and have about 2 weeks left on the pill before I start the 30 day program!
Ill keep doing more videos on it, I think it’s so important!
TMI for you, but oh so helpful for us all. Thank you for sharing.
Yes!! Went off birth control about 3 years ago and it was such a great decision for me!! My skin instantly cleared up and just seemed more...glowy!! I also found that I was less hormonal, that I was in more control of my emotions (wasn't as moody around that time of the month). My periods were also less heavy!! Overall, great decision!!!! :) Looking forward to your next TMI video!!!
More coming! :)
Yay! All those things are so important! A happyLibido is awesome.
Omg I haven’t even watched the video yet, saw the title and had to watch!! I’ve been off my birth control for a month now. So far, I’m having a small chest break out, which I’m using Panoxyl (recommended by my dermatologist) and cocoa butter to moisturize. I did get two cystic acne pimples on my chin, but just continued my normal skin routine and they went away. Typically, I get really depressed around the time my period is supposed to come on, but so far I’ve been feeling great! Im also really excited because I purchased the diva cup!!! My period came on a week early and before BC, I had terrible cramps. It’s too early to tell, but my cramps aren’t bad right now. I do have an active lifestyle so that helps.
Hope the bad period passes quickly Amber!
The more videos I see about people talking about going off birth control, the more I want to myself! Right now I'm skipping my periods because my doctor said I could, so I have it every three months or so and I really like that 😅
I'm glad it has worked out so well for you! I'm kind of scared to ever go off of it, should I ever want to get pregnant, because of how much the pill has helped me with my previously horrendous periods. Nothing else really helped with how long and painful they were, and it was like magic.
Ugh, I desperately want to get off BC! Been on it for 16 years but am so nervous. Both times I went off of BC (we were trying to get pregnant, at this point!), I had wanted to cleanse my body for a few months of the hormones BEFORE trying to get pregnant. Both times, I was pregnant within 6 weeks. I would really need to be dedicated to keeping track of my ovulation time. Thank you for sharing!
I really strongly recommend the app Natural Cycles! FDA approved and very user friendly 🙏🏼
Never heard of the diva cups
I have not used contraception in almost 10 years! I can tell when I'm ovulating, which is neat. I also was born Catholic and I've always been interested in Natural Family Planning so I can track my cycles more even though I'm currently single.
Love the video thank you for sharing. I have an IUD and I haven’t had my period since getting it. I know it’s not the best for my body. But I already have two kids, I don’t want anymore!
I'm about to get off birth control and just added all of your supplements to my Amazon cart... Thanks for being so informative!
You got this!! :)
Wow. What a video. Thank you for being so honest and open. I love your videos. You are an inspiration.
So happy you liked it! Xoxo
Girl I’m getting off of it now . I’m super tired all the time girl ..... same here been on since i was 15 . Girlfriend I had same things on my chin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg so painful you saved my life I’m getting off of it !!!!!!!!!!!!
I just wanted to say that I'm super grateful for this video you really saved my life I completely stopped taking the pill because of of you
Glad this video helped you!! 💖
I literally just decided to go off bc last week and Im so happy I did (your video only makes me more excited). I have been struggling with my sex drive & mood swings and this video makes me feel better. I hope it gets better and I see the results you saw!!
It can definitely take some time, but I'm so glad I did! I feel much better. :)
I just went off birth control cause I don’t like what it does to my body. I was also super tired (most recently on the newest birth control I was trying). Hoping for the best cause my husband and I still aren’t trying to get pregnant.
Thank you so much for posting about this!
The cup is so amazing! It's scary, but after learning how to put it in, it's like freedom! Lol you barely even feel it, it can be really easy to forget it's in.
Interesting! Hmmm got me thinking about it
I love this! Birth control is so unhealthy, so happy for you!
I’ve been on BirthControl for about 5 years now (the pill) and I’ve been wanting to go off of it for a long time now! Thank you for this!
Did you go off? I'm also considering this decision but idk what to do.

@stephc9772 hey your still on it right?
I'm in the same boat, want to get off but scared due to my acne coming back!
Comment was 4 years ago and at that time you said you've been on it 5 years, so your almost on it 10 years now. The longer your on it the harder it is to come off .
BTW which one are you on?
I have been on birth control for 12 years, and it scares me to even think about getting off of it. I have my bf but I do not want another child. I love my son, but I cannot image having another one and starting all over again. Thank you for your honesty, if was refreshing and now you have me thinking.
I’m on the same boat as you girl
Did you ever get off of it? I’ve been on since I was 15 (17 years now on it)…I’m so terrified to get it off of it but feel like it’s time.
@@amandapontarellidid you end up getting off of it?
Currently watching this now so that I can prepare myself for getting off the pill! I made this decision just the other day becauseI had switched between a high hormone BC, to low, then back to high last year which has caused me to deal with 2 periods per month for nearly 8/9 months now. I can't wait to detox from this!
Did you end up going off?
@@KassXtrent yes! I've been off the pill since March. My periods are more inconsistent now, but I started taking Balance by Alani Nu and those help regulate me a bit more and it's a real period vs fake like when I was on the pill.
@@jamieastman4946 Oh my gosh, awesome! Good for you. I want to go off so bad but already struggle with my skin on it. Have you had any breakouts?

I am so glad that this video helped, I know it is a struggle trying to navigate birth control and what is best for your body!
How was it? I’ve been on for 3 years, thinking of going off
Lovely video! Really grateful for you sharing!
I just went off the pill and just watched your videos about it! Thank you for the suggestions of vitamins and supplements to take! I’m looking into it now and hopefully have a smooth transition/good experience/not go crazy lol!
Also, the link for the calcium D-Glucarate wasn’t working?
How'd your experience go coming off
I gained so much weight on birth control pills after 3 years and when I went off I gained more even with diet and exercise. It really screwed me up. Never again 😩😩
Joanna Saadati now I’m scared to get off😳
@@jenayebenson5245 Most people say the opposite! All my blood work was normal so my doctor had no idea why it happened. Now I'm pregnant and haven't gained any weight in 4 months lol.

Did you experience really bad bloating? I’ve been off for 2 months and my bloating is so bad
I know it’s a year later but I just took my IUD out today super excited about the happiness I am going to continuously experiencing again. Had an IUD for a year and 8 months and it was hell. I’m also excited to get to use my menstrual cup again. I was using one for 8 years before I had to stop because of getting the IUD in. But now I get to use it again. It’s the best!
I'm so glad you are going to start feeling like yourself again, babe! that is so exciting. :)
I went on birth control at first for acne and I went off it a few months ago and my acne has gotten soooo much better! So frustrating! Never going back ✌🏼
I am in the same boat. I started birth control two months ago for hormonal acne and want to stop because I hate birth control and my acne is still awful. Did you break out at all after stopping? and how long were you on it for? Thank you!
So the acne didnt come back when you went off?
meghan maynard two monyhs isbt reslly enough time to tell
I think this is the most real discussion about going off birth control on RUclips. I’ve been off for two months now after ELEVEN years on the pill. I’ve noticed an increase in energy, sex drive, actually being able to tell when I’m ovulating (literally didn’t know what it felt like), and weight loss. Sadly, some of that weight has come from my boobs but I’ll live! 😂
That's incredible, Samantha! I feel more like myself being off of it for sure :)
It's good to hear that things like fatigue changed after the first month being rough. I'm obsessively researching womens experiences to put me at ease rather than just thinking it could take months. I'm in the first month since getting off and it IS rough!
Yes!! It got so much better, keep pushing through!
How is it going? Could you update me? I just went off the pill yesterday
@@irenerocchesso4683 it's been 10 months since the initial shot and the fatigue is way, way improved.
I have been doi g -everything I can with my health and currently my energy is great, I think its further enhanced by using cordyceps mushroom and occasionally ashwaghanda and l-theanine.

I just started birth control and I'm not really sure what to expect. I really hope I don't see a decrease in energy and skin and weight problems
Omg! I literally just ordered DIM. Its supposed to help metabolize estrogen. I have a doctor's appointment coming up to see what the hell is going on with me. Idk if its pre-menopause with hypothyroidism or if the symptoms I'm having are from the stupid nexplanon implant (wouldn't recommend that to my worst enemy). Please do a follow up vid on the DIM.💗

What changes did you notice with your hair ? Did it thin out or did it get fuller ?
Did you experience a lost of hair loss or none ?
Thanks for sharing your experience. For me personally birth control did wonders in some aspects. Pimples disappeared, really light period...however I do feel that my sex drive is dead.
Omg I’m on birth control now and I just started getting acne and years natural I had clear skin. But I do miss my menstrual cycle. It depends on the body though.
I am off my BC for 4 months SO glad I quit
I came off the pill well over 20yrs a go, I used to have PCOS it cleared up after my second child, but my periods were horrendous, to the point of being put forward for a hysterectomy, but I came across the menstral cup which has completely changed my life, every month I used to take like a whole box of pain killers, could stand up, go to the loo, play with my kids, Since I’ve been using it I haven’t taken a single pain killer, i go to the gym and much more. it took a long time for me to get my head around it like you said, it’s weird, the thought made me queasy, but for me the lack of pain, not so heavy flow outweighs the rest. My skin has been amazing since being off birth control, it’s amazing how bad it Can be!!!
This video can not be more timely for me, I just got off birth control because they found a mass on my liver last month, it's benign but my doctor thinks it's related to prolonged use of bc (i started since the age of 16). I've been feeling some of the same things you mentioned! Hopefully it will continue to get better!
What's the tumor called?
I love diva cups. Best decision I’ve ever made. AMAZING
And better for the planet!!
Girl try a menstrual cup! For me it literally lasts 12 hours. So when I’m on my period I have a quick shower morning and night to empty it etc. So much more convenient and I actually find it less gross then pads or tampons.
Also, totally agree that coming off the pill was the best thing I ever did! Easier periods, less moody, and much prefer listening to my body.
Thanks so much.. when I came off the pill I could find no reliable info anywhere. Your changes are almost identical to mine!
so welcome! glad it helped :)

Hi Aimee, four months now, how are u feeling?
@@hlengiwemasondo2858 So much better! Less bloating, everything is on a natural cycle.... should have done this a year ago.
@@aimeenichole33 Hi! 🙋 My I ask if you gained weight after stopping? I want to stop but I'm concerned about the weight gain 😭 read so many comments people saying that got like 10klgs 😭
@@amandacosta1566 - Hi, I'm not sure what you are taking, but I lost weight actually. Not immediately, but over time. So I just passed a year in September and I lost a good 35 pounds but I also modified my diet and took measures to fix my gut too with probiotics. I do think stopping the pill helped heaps. Good look in your journey💚
I recently stopped my birth control, and before, I was really in tune with how my body felt. Now, it's confusing because I felt exactly how you felt: like that straight, almost numb feeling. I actually have feeling in my lower abs and I don't feel so bloated. The weight still seems to be climbing, but I'm hoping everything just needs more time to even out.
I’ve been on birth control almost 10 years. Last summer there was a 3 month gap between a next dosage Bc there was confusion with doctor filling my prescription with the pharmacist. Before the gap I was on a single hormone pill and then after I was put on a dual hormone pill. I eat very healthy and work out very hard but I’m having a hard time getting leaner. I really truly feel the BC is affecting my ability to lose weight
If you feel its effect you that way, ask your doctor about it and consult with them if you can!
I’ve never been on BC. I’ve always worked with my fertility bc I don’t see it as a “problem”. I worked hard to learn my cycles with Natural Family Planning and it’s worked amazing for me. Obviously for me it’s about avoiding/achieving pregnancy but I’ve never felt the need to put something in my body for something that’s not wrong.
I hope you come around on menstrual cups. I get it, I felt like you before I tried it, then one day I was like "this is bigger than me, I need to have an open mind" and decided to broaden my horizon and just ordered one, tried it and will NEVER go back!
Maybe one day, open to it...just doesn’t feel like the right fit for me...but who knows!
I’m trying to get off the pill, but I’m SOOOO afraid that my cramping will COME back 10x worse. If I can give a compliment to my bc pill, I’ll say that my cramping was at a minimum! I struggled with cramping before bc and it’s a MONSTER!! I was crying, getting dizzy, throwing up etc... bc stopped that but I want a break because I’ve been on the pill for 7 years.
It can be rough at first but I’ve enjoyed being off it
Please can you comment on how it went for you? I mostly went on bc because I had similar periods to how you described it. I'm also scared to go off of the pill now.
I need to know about these Summer Shape Up shirts!
There may be a giveaway for these coming soon :)
I got off birth control 6 weeks ago - my skin cleared up, I lost weight, my sex drive came back, and I’m happier. Can’t wait for any other positive symptoms that may come. I just knew I needed to get off birth control as I’ve had so many bad symptoms no matter what form I’ve tried.
Hi,just wanna ask,did you had spotting after you stop taking BC?taking off BC then when my period arrive its just a spot, did you experience it too?
@@tangecholima I personally didn’t, but that’s a common symptom. As I understand it is normal for it to take up to six months for you to get your usual period back, and that’s of course assuming you don’t have something like PCOS or Endometriosis. My family just tends to have short cycles and never miss them🤣

I think it does take some time for sure, not fun at allll but worth it to me in the end
I think I’m a bit late, just watched your video now! I had a bad experience with acne after 3 months off the pill, so went back on it and things improved. In a couple of months from now I want to try again but with supplements this time. When did you start taking DIM , Glutathione and Calcium? Was it before or after quitting the pill??
Would LOVE to know. It would help a lot!
Thanks in advance. Your videos have been so helpful to me.
So sorry to hear that! I started taking those supplements before I went off of the pill, but once I was officially off of it I started becoming more consistent. Glad you are enjoying my content :)
I would love to go off birth control but I get crazy heavy periods without it :( I went on it because the flow wouldn't stop, I had a period that lasted over 2 months before I went to my doctor. I went off of it and the heavy periods came back. SO frustrating!!
tessa84x you should go to a naturopath, that’s a symptom of a larger issue!!
I’m sorry if you mentioned this, but what have you been using for contraception now you’re off birth control? Loved this video!
I've been using the Natural Cycles App to track.
I was put on birth control to balance my hormones and help with painful periods when I was 15.
After all of the symptoms, and honestly just feeling down on life, I finally stopped a few days ago as an adult.
It’s sad because I’m just now realizing I don’t know how to live as a woman without it!
I only had 6 months of natural cycles from my first period until now as an adult.
It’s strange how much I’m starting to realize how suppressed I really was!
Hi,just wanna ask,did you had spotting after you stop taking BC?taking off BC then when my period arrive its just a spot, did you experience it too?
I went off birth control 3 months ago and I definitely noticed a difference. But not in my skin yet. My period is now only like 2 days which I’m not sure is good but I am overdue for a checkup! We are trying to have a baby too. :)

HEY was wondering did you start taking those supplements right after birth control or shortly after? thanks !!
After almost three years
I’m coming off the pill and nervous as f**k
It is so worth it, I promise. However, I totally understand the fear!
I have been on the pill for 1 and a half year and I too have lost my sex drive. I also feel like my feelings have become more numb but that might be because of the pill trying to balance out my hormones but it sucks
Good for you for taking charge of you health!!
I am hypo and have Hashimotos... I went off the pill and lost 20 lbs within two months. My energy levels went up and I felt like a new person. I was on the borderline for osteopenia and gained bone mass after the pill.
The downside is that a year after going off the pill, my fibroid grew and I developed more. I had a hysterectomy because of my heavy bleeding and anemia. I am now 42 and I don’t regret my decision one bit.
Had been on BC for 20yrs up until 2 months ago, when I had a stroke. I was a healthy 36 yr old, and the only cause they can find for my stroke was the BC. My recovery is going good and I'm back to working out this week. My 1st 2 periods have been regular and about the same as before, maybe just a little worse cramps. I haven't had an breakouts, but I have noticed my skin went from dry to more combination, now I'm a little oily in the t zone
Joy DS I was told to get off my bc due to being at a high risk for a stroke. I’m 35. I just stopped taking my pills about two weeks ago. So scary. Glad you’re recovering well!!
I have hypothyroidism and I decided to stop the pill in May, I am using the FAM as birth control. It has been so hard to lose weight! I weighted myself this morning and I lost 3.5 lbs. My face is not swollen, my water retention has improved , my mood has improved, I'm super happy
Yay I am so happy to hear that for you xoxo
Can I ask how you are feeling now? Are you on a hormone free birth control ?
