    I am a Security Security Company as well. If someone has a Car with an Unbeatable System. Only Option is to Take from the Driver the Keys and Tags. If they throw owner in back, may still be close enough to Enable System. A Sequence on Radio is OK, but if you have to do everything, could be memorized if Watching,
    Unplugging Brake Switch works if Parking in a Bad Area works, won't allow to be put in gear. Disabling/Interrupting/Fuel Pump works. In the Old Days, I would have Power Antenna Wire on Radio Energize a Relay to allow Starting. Can't Engage Starter without having Radio On. A lot of little Tricks can keep Dishonest People Honest. Not just keep Honest People Honest.
    It is called GOST, Not Ghost? Unless their also is a Ghost System. Very Possible.

    Just Back, GOST Is Used On a 73' Donzi I Work on, For Marine.
    Ghost is Used in Automotive.

    Can the signal between the car and tags be hacked and replicated by a programme just like the keyless signals?

    • @motorguard
      @motorguard  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hi. Your car key sends a one time code which never expires. You can catch/boost this code and send it to the car one time. This is what thieves do.
      Pandora uses Dialouge Encryption, with multi path radio signal with expiring codes. Basically, the device sends a wake up signal, the alarm then sends for the code. If the remote doesn't send that code it expires. This all happens in less than a second. Its also AES-128 encryption and basically its not susceptible to relay theft. The tags also go to sleep when they go out of range.

      I’m recent month JLR so seem to be getting quite tolerant of aftermarket systems as they are aware of the problems with leaving the car unsecured. They can be started and driven away within seconds. For your own peace of mind speak to your dealer.

    Think I will stick to the Ghost, this system looks good but there is still a physical fob that can be lost or stolen if the theif knows what to look for, at least with ghost whilst slightly more inconvenient the code is only known by me. Pros and cons of each i guess, if you were to be pulled out with the ghost system they could still get it to a garage to strip the car.
    I do like the impact sensor and tilt sensor you installed that seems smart.

    • @motorguard
      @motorguard  2 года назад +2

      The ghost is a fantastic system and works very well on Range rovers. Especially on the latest firmware so if you’ve had it a while and the cars 2017 or newer I’d suggest having the software checked just to be sure.

    • @lfoggy3061

      On my Range Rover fitted with the Ghost, if the driver's door is opened the ignition shuts off. Its a bit inconvenient if you have to exit the car to open a gate or something, but if someone pulled me out of my car they would have to enter the code to drive off...can't see that happening.

    My siblings range rover velar got stolen a few weeks ago. My in law had the keys with him in the house but the theives have a system where they can copy the key signal from the door. This is why this keyless system is stupid but range rover won't change it

    • @motorguard
      @motorguard  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately this is the case with most factory systems. The problem is us as humans want everything to be easy. We want to walk up pull a handle and press start and go. All without taking the key out of the pocket. This is very easy for thieves to imitate. That’s why an aftermarket security system is advised on pretty much all modern vehicles.

    • @loshan1212
      @loshan1212 10 месяцев назад +2

      You can actually disable keyless entry really easily, using the cars key. You'd have to unlock using the buttons on the keys, like previous generation cars. Keyless entry is probably the worst trend car makers are going, barely any convenient, but super convenient for any thief.

  • @maea344

    Am I being naive in thinking a key fob which requires a 4 digit code to unlock the car to enter then a second code on the same key fob to start the engine/car?
