- One of my favorite approaches! The "Harbor Visual Approach" into PWM's Runway 29 is always one to remember, with great views of the city as planes follow the harbor and make a right turn over I-295 and into Runway 29. Enjoy the views of Portland, and don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to my channel!

VERY fun to approach the airport from the north. Most all commercial flights landing on Runway 29 come from the south and or west and make a left hand turn for the harbor visual approach, but our flight overflew the airport and turned in from the north!
Yup, that's the Harbor Visual from the north side where we all get a look at Falmouth Foreside and Mackworth Island for the Baxter School for the Deaf and coming around the corner from the Eastern Prom. May not highlight the south approach where you get Ft Williams and Two Lights but still a nice approach.
Yessir, I’ve always been a fan of the northern facing view
I'm just seeing your video now. Wow! I'll be heading up to Maine next week and I've never been on that approach before. Amazing views over Eastern Promenade, Portland, St John Street, over 295 to land at PWM! ❤❤❤✈
Thanks for the comment, as always, Tina! Was definitely surprised to realize we were coming in from the north. After years and years of flying into Portland I’ve never flown this approach. Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love this airport and approach! Nice video
Thank you! My home town airport
Mi piace muovendo avanti/indietro il quadratino che visualizza ala si vedono velocizzati I movimenti delle superfici di controllo. Il panorama tanto verde di alberi e' straordinario
Nice!!
I shot video of this same approach on 26August this year. I had seen your video and was so happy when I realized we were flying in over the Eastern Promenade, Commerical St., I-295, the Fore River and touch down at PWM. Simply amazing and the best video of an approach I have filmed to date. Love this!
That’s awesome! Have you posted it?
Plenty more PWM landings coming soon
@@flapsnslats no because it was taken with my cell phone. I am not anywhere close to being a vlogger. In the video I talk too much and am naming everything I see. lol. I hadn´t been home to Maine in pretty much two years so I was so thrilled to be flying again. I might end up creating a channel so family members and friends can see my videos instead of posting them on Facebook.
Reasons I have subbed :)
Great video
Thanks for watching!
That was a hard landing.
That was really nothing.
Misleading video title. This isn’t the famous or even the prettiest approach into Pwm. I’m a Portland resident and while this view is ok, the best and most scenic views are when the plane approaches Portland harbor from the south. That one goes by several gorgeous light houses and over stunning Casco bay from the south. The magnificent approach from the south also flies over several beautiful beaches. This video shows an approach from the north. So not the stunning southern approach. So the title here is misleading. It’s not the famous approach at all.
Also live in Portland Peter, and I guess we will agree to disagree; most approaches from the south do get views of the light houses and beaches, but only for passengers on the left side of the plane. Passengers on right enjoy the city views, but you can’t have both. I’d rather be sitting on the right to see downtown Portland, the harbor, and the islands stretching up toward Harpswell. All a matter of personal preference. Thanks for the comment.
To add to that, the “famous” part of this approach is the actual harbor visual, which is the same regardless which direction you approach from, hence the title. Once the aircraft enters the mouth of the harbor, the approach is the same.
As a Mainer, any approach is the most beautiful approach into PWM.
@shadowcub5751 and soon you’ll get to fly JetBlue to PQI
