We use 55 gallon water barrels. But we have chains attached to ours. Just found this channel because the party rental company I work for has been getting into tents. Thanks for the videos!
I would drop ratchet strap circle end ( Stake End ) in the barrel and fish it with the truck antenna when we strapped the barrels like that. We always had a antenna around. Also that might help others if they forgot a hanger or tool. Now we just cut notches with a grinder in the side lip top with a grinder and just leave the caps on, that way if they fell over in a hard storm you would still have some weight left. If anyone needs a picture I would be glad to send one of how we do them now and it works out real well! At car shows people used to stuff trash in the barrel and that cut that out too.
I guess I should say we never bent the antenna, you can fish it at the right angle with the weight of the stake ring end down in the water about 8", after that we just screwed it back on the truck.
Instead of hooking a strap at the top of the barrel build platforms out of plywood and put anchor points on them like I did and you don't have to worry about them tipping over like they will when you hook at the top.
@@paulknoblock8797 300lbs. I ratchet strap 3 or 4 together on each corner and I put a rubber mat underneath them so they don’t slide. Plus, a shorter barrel gives you a lower center of gravity than a 55 gallon barrel. I only ballast 10x20 and 20x20 frame tents.

Thank you for this. Your videos are soo helpful! As a guy just getting into frame tents this is gold.
Also you do a good job with the channel, I love this business and others in it!
How do you price water barrels and do you fill them up at the place where the tent is being setup or have to be full at delivery?
Fill on site unless we really can’t. 30 ea. But that’s too low sometimes. If their pressure sucks then it takes forever.
@@thetentguy thanx !!!
Very helpful!!

I filled 15 gallon water barrels with concrete and added an eye bolt to ratchet around
About how much weight is this?
