Hi Scotty. I’m turning 16 and I’m looking for a first car. I’m looking for something easy to manage, and a bit sporty. Also I want something i can upgrade along the way. What are your recommendations?
Scotty my dad was also a mechanic for several decades, he use to say when you have a degree you can end up serving food, when you know a trade you will always be able to buy food...god bless you blue collar workers
Sadly yes, I have a college degree, I'm laid off after 18 years on the job. A childhood friend, barely graduated high-school, went to trade school, owns 2 homes, has a boat and oh yeah, he's retired.
Yeah, well that is no longer true since automation and robots are going to destroy most trades. There is not a single blue collar job that will not be either eliminated or dramatically reduced. Sad but true.
I worked at Toyoda Gosei plant (TG) and we made airbags, steering wheels, and various plastic parts for Toyota and other car companies. We used the methods described in this video. That's why I trust Scotty. He tells the truth. We were non union and the company took very good care of us. We worked hard but were appreciated. It's no wonder that Toyota has become the greatest car company today. The American companies need to wake up.
David Carpio good luck with your BMW which means Bring My Wallet, I use to work at a BMW Dealership for 12 years, parts and upkeep are very expensive, you would have to go 15 years old to 40 years old car to get a decent vehicle, the newer cars are a waste of money due to parts and up to 60 modules in the modern cars and modules malfunctioning is frequent.
@@shawndoucette2556 Hey, let him buy it. If people want a BMW they'll waste all their money on it because it "looks" nice. I Can't imagine it being as bad as the 2003 e500 though

I worked for Toyota for 23 years here in Australia . It was a sad day when the factory closed its doors back in 2018. I Currently drive a 2018 Prado 150 my wife and daughter drive a 2014 and 2017 Camry . Love the brand and what it represents which is quality and durability .
You've obviously never driven a modern Chevy Spark. One of the few American cars that can give even Toyota a run for it's money when it comes to reliability and value.
Well I can tell you from personal experience it took 13 years for my 2005 Rav4 water pump to go out. And the ONLY major issue Ive had with this wonderful vehicle. 🤗💖
Wish we had the same luck with the Highlander we inherited but the fact that I’m disappointed that we’ve had more issues than we would like at over 200k says something in itself. Most American cars are lucky to make it past 100k without any serious issues these days.
It may have ran out prematurely coz you never changed the coolant. Maybe kept running on the factory one? Even the latest long life coolants are only good for 5 years or so.
I bought a 2001 rav4 with 220000km on the clock a couple of months ago. The only "repair" it had in its well-maintained service book was a broken "indoor light bulb". I then replaced the timing belt and the water pump (just to be safe) because they were still the original (!) ones.

Yup, if I remember correctly after inspecting it the engineers reported that GM could not actually build that car with their current assembly techniques and technology.
