In addition to Christmas, it's pretty customary for a Jewish family living on Long Island to have Chinese on Sunday nights. My dad would often order take-out from a charming place called Sun Ming in Huntington that looked like a palace, was two-stories high and had an amazing Tiki-style lounge. While Sun Ming no longer stands (and that makes me so sad), they had the best Egg Drop and Wonton soups. Now seeing as my dad could usually never decide upon the two, he often combined them into what is commonly known as Egg Drop Wonton Soup. This super simple recipe I have come up is truly representative of the best of them. Not only is it the perfect consistency, loaded with wontons and egg ribbons coursing through the soup, but it boasts vibrant colors to match its deep flavor.

Wontons are good, but egg drop is my favorite and as you said the white pepper gives it another boost which is delicious. Nice recipe! 🩵

Delicious recipe. as is. For my own personal preference, I added fresh lime juice and my fav hot sauce for a hot and sour vidbe. Quick, easy, satisfying...thank you!

I actually like to mix some egg drop soup with hot and sour soup. Never thought of mixing it with wonton soup. I’ll definitely have to try that

Oh no! Did you use a large serving fork? Slow and gentle, as if raking the egg through the soup while dropping it in is the key.

Unfortunately can't find good Gluten Free wontons and not making my own, lol, but have you ever tried TOMATO EGG DROP SOUP! SO yummy!

leftover egg yolks raw can be fed to your dog. it will do wonders for his coat!
If you want to give your dog intestinal worms you can give them raw eggs are salmonella poisoning are you a vet? Why don't you go to a veterinarian clinic and let them show you pictures of what happens to an animal when somebody feeds them raw eggs

Egg drop soup is a hard pass. I don't eat eggs.
I'm allergic to corn starch and pork.
Substitute arrowroot powder for the cornstarch. I always use arrowroot as most cornstarch is "modified" from GMO corn. You could use another ground meat like beef, turkey, lamb, etc. Instead of pork.
Yes, use arrowroot. If not, you could make a slurry with flour and water.
