Lifeguard shortage in Maine continues to be a challenge, park officials say

State park leaders have started reaching out to local schools to find possible hires and will soon start a junior lifeguard program.

$15 an hour, applicants must be exceptionally fit and a strong swimmer.... And willing to die for people that don't care enough to pay more taxes to keep children from doing a job that specially trained adults should be doing. Welcome to Maine

They need to pay them way more than 15 dollars an hour for starters. Also, I looked into lifeguard training for my teens and it was $300. There's a shortage of lifeguards, but let's charge a bunch to train them. Makes sense. 🤦🏻‍♀️
