In my neck of The South, we cook the hamhock til the meat falls off the bone before adding the other ingredients. The liquor will be flavored and all you’d have to do is pull the bone out. Great recipe....I am gonna try it!!!

Love white beans! In Louisiana, cook your beans on Mondays, while doing laundry, or at least that is the tradition. And sub out the hocks for pickle meat. Yes, Pickle Meat! It is so delicious in white beans. Traveling home from NOLA, o was pulled aside in airport security because I had pickle meat in my carry on. Officer said she didn’t blame me for taking pickle meat home where I can’t get it in the grocery.

Nan, I have to stop playing the drinking game if I'm gonna binge watch...
If you were going to make ahead and freeze, I'm assuming you would just ladle the beans into containers and freeze. Then when you're ready to cook, you'd thaw, top with an egg, and then bake? (On a related note, this reminds me of Neighborhood Bean Soup that was in Taste of Home years ago and might be on Allrecipes. It's a very hearty, comforting soup!)

@Munchies i love your content,. Great quality and i gladly watch it over TV, but you guys seriously gotta take a look at some normalizing or compressing your audio,. That mix is SO low,. Compared to most other youtube channels, their audio might not be recorded as well as yours but their audio levels make sense!
Beans therefore soaked before cooking is better for your digestion. Beans are very hard on your digestive system.
