  • My full review of Sonic Prime Season 3. I go over the good, the bad, and the terrible in this review. In this video I talk about Sonic, Nine, Shadow, and the rest of the variants of the shatterspaces and how they all play into the final season of Sonic Prime. Sonic Prime could've been great, but just like the other Sonic games, there's so much wasted potential in the show.

My main problem for this season is that there was really no story progression with those middle episodes. Any victory in battle or character growth moment was were repeatedly reset by prism energy. It made the show feel like a slog to watch until it arbitrarily decided that they had reached the episode quota. I honestly think that the final season would have worked better as a hour long special that cuts out all the filler. Though the sails+mangey moments made it all worth it in the end.

One of my biggest pet-peeves is when people use "its a kids show" as an excuse for flawed/bad storytelling... Can we be real here for a second? Kids shows _need to be good._
Children are way smarter than we give them credit, and a lot of my most beloved and favorite shows and movies are made for kids. Avatar the Last Airbender, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Spiderman Into/Across the Spiderverse... All of those are "kid's shows," and yet they're some of the best and most well-made forms of art that the film industry has to offer.
Children's shows should be able to be enjoyed not only by children, but also by their parents who have to watch with them. They should be a medium to teach and inspire, and you _can't_ do that by dumbing things down... All that does is hinder a child's ability to learn and grow.

I was mostly disappointed at Shadow's lack of interaction with any of the other characters besides Sonic and Nine. I found it hilarious how everyone is just non-questioning of another hedgehog. Shadow has no reaction to any of the Rouge variants, the Eggs dont try to reason with Shadow, hes just...there.
I get that the run time has to more or less leave Shadow out...but man.

    • @valentinkambushev4968
      @valentinkambushev4968 4 месяца назад +8

This is because of the stupid fact that apparently Shadow doesn't have any friends. Of course, I have my own theories about why the writers don't want Shadow to interact with Rouge, but they are probably not true.

    • @Ranni
      @Ranni  4 месяца назад +13

Wow, I haven't even thought about that. I know Nine mentioned how Shadow seems like a variant but wasn't in Season 2, but yeah it's interesting how no one even recognized that Shadow is another hedgehog and didn't even think of the possibility of him being a variant of Sonic. But I agree with you with Shadow just being there. More could've been done with his character.

@@Ranni it's kind of why I'm hoping there is a season 4. To give these guys one more chance to get back to what made Season 1 so good.
It kind of reminds me of how safe the first season of Sonic Boom was, as the cast had no idea if they'd get renewed. Once they knew they were done after S2, they kind of just threw anything out there and found a surprising niche.

It really is unfortunate, you'd think the reason why they chose to contain the story within 24 episodes was to help in making the story swift and concise. However, between the unnecessary focus on action , and moments in season 2 and 3 where nothing of note really happens, it just feels like a lot of wasted potential. Don't get me wrong though, overall I really enjoyed this show. I think that's why it hurts so much. Why did it have to end like this? So unsatisfying.

Basically by saying it’s “Canon” he can say tell fans they can ignore it, but if he wants to bring back some of these characters one day, such as in the IDW comics, he can. Now he didn’t say that, but I’m hoping we get to see Nine again at least.

Nine was always the best part of this show. I’m glad he was the focus and he got a bittersweet happy ending. Could have been executed better, the the ending could have been more satisfying, but at least it was serviceable.

Not sure if anyone will see this but I just finished watching Season 3 and honestly, I blame the structure of Season 3 for it's failure. We had like 4 episodes of fighting, so the story plots were so confusing because all we see is the same characters fighting the same robots over and over again and it's tiring after like 2 episodes, LET ALONE 4! I'd love to do a rewrite of Season 3 and showcase what might have been.

Respected what the show felt like it was trying to do.
Was painful to watch what it actually did, storywise.
Wouldn't mind seeing the entire Prime Multiverse cast dropped into something like IDW or Season 3 of Sonic Boom.
Think the pacing there mightt be a better fit for letting these characters develop. Who knows, maybe they could even spread out and help define the world a little.
Maybe if Sega always had to drop the cast from a reset into another Sonic verse, they'd hesitate to reset so casually?

I totally understand why people do not like the show, though me personally I like it and still watch. But like you said, it’s just wasted potential, like why didn’t we see prismatic sonic from the end of season 2 in season 3. In the end to me the show is good. I think the way they could have done season 3 is first have like each episode after the first is sonic gathering his friends from each shatter space while slowly concluding each character arch and having Shadow come with Sonic and then in like episode 5, have them travel to the grim to fight Nine and the robots. During that, Nine explains why he is doing this and everyone starts to understand where Nine is coming from. Sonic tries to get to Nine to fight him but when he does all his friends are hurt and can’t fight anymore. In episode 6, Sonic has to fight Nine and the robots alone and help his friends and maybe they get to the prism and then Sonic transforms into prismatic Sonic and beats nine and destroys the alphas but then Sonic sees the trees and hammock and the grim is almost gone and finishes with a to be continued or whatever and then in episode 7 it could play the same but have the ending be when Sonic goes to bring the chili dogs, he actually explains what happens and his friends aren’t mad because Sonic has grown and because as Sonic said “friends talk it out”. And then Sonic says see you guys tomorrow and goes for a run while the sun is setting. Then Shadows joins him for a race and then we get a few seconds of how each shatter space is doing all while Sonic narrates something like “After learning things from my friends, who knows what adventures will come next”.

Also I think something that would’ve worked really well is if once we see sonic for the first time in this season, he should have an extremely sad face in pretty much every scene. That is until the scene where he says that ghost hill and the shards are gone. In this scene, we could’ve seen Sonic finally cry and shed tears for pretty much the first time in a long time. Then Sonic could’ve said “There is nothing we can do now. The shards and ghost hill are gone, as well as hope itself. There’s no way home, it’s gone for good”. Then he puts his face into his hands just crying and says,”I’m sorry Shadow, it’s all my fault”. And then what I think would’ve been perfect is if instead of Shadow saying just what he said, he walks up to Sonic, crouches down and puts his hand on Sonic’s shoulder and says, “Listen, if teaming up with you has taught me anything, always have hope”. Then Sonic would ask “Are you just trying to cheer me up?” But Shadow tells him he is telling the truth. That would have been perfect.

I felt like season 1 and season 2 were good, season 2 had a little bit of an issue for me but i was able to like it, season 1 was gold. Season 3 on the other hand had glaring issues. (This is just my opinion feel free to agree or disagree)
    1. there were like a billion fight scenes with nothing that felt rewarding
As mention before, the show kept on recycling the same plot point. Sonic tries to talk with tails, he gets pissed, they fight him, excessive dialogue.
    2. Some characters were under utilized (especially shadow)
I thought that some of the tails clones would be utilized to like help fight and stuff but we only get like a glimpse second of it
Shadow got the worst of it, his interactions with sonic were interesting to watch, proves that he isn’t an just some emo kid lol.
    3. It felt rushed, some of the buildup didn’t play off as we would expected to.
Also mentioned, I STRONGLY agree, as a finale that was suppose to complete everything the characters went through, it felt like at some points they didnt know what to do and other times they really had a good idea, just didnt have a strong execution for us to grasp.
    4. When sonic returns home to Green Hill nothing felt too rewarding either.
Something about this just makes me feel slightly dissapointed? I was expecting a few changes instead of him just going home, fight egg man, say hi to his friends, and run into nowhere, well into something that we litterly have no idea about since it just ends. I would of wanted to hear him talk about his other shatterverse friends to the crew and maybe even carry something in memory of them, since he seemed to just be happy again without missing any of the allies he made on the way since it showed he cares alot for everyone of them.
Thats pretty much it for me, I know there is a lot more to talk about but these were the points I had a hard time settling with while watching the show. Thanks for reading!

I pretty much agree with your review and I think you worded it really well. I loved season 1 and I was so excited at the beginning of season 2 to see Shadow appear. Though I did really like his interactions with sonic, as someone else in the comments pointed out, he didn't interact much with the other cast. It was a shame that he wasn't there for most of the 2 seasons, because they did do a really good job with his character. I am a huge adventure fan and I was so pleased that they got Shadow right.
As for the alternate versions of Sonic's friends, I felt like after season 1 they kind of just became part of the background for the most part. They were just kind of...there to help fight. And it's a shame because I really liked a lot of them, like Thorn, Rusty Rose, and Dread. I felt especially that Dread's resolution was sloppy. He was like nah, I'm not gonna help if there's not treasure. Then he was helping them in the fight with Nine? He was about to steal the prism for himself and then he had a last minute change of heart when he saw the pirate Amy, I don't remember her name, about to lose a fight. I thought her becoming captain was cool and would have been a nice moment if it hadn't been so rushed. Just as you said in the video, I also thought that seasons 2 and 3 were one long fight scene. It just became noise. I felt like these long fights could have been 2 episodes tops. And it's a shame because there were good moments in there!
    I really did like how Nine became the villain, and I also liked his interactions with Sonic during the finale. But I agree with you, that we barely got to spend time with Sonic's friends after we finally returned to Green Hill. We spent so long trying to get back to them. ;-;

I actually agree with you. The first season was good until it fall flat in season 2 and rises up a little in season 3. I think the context matters, It sure has action but storytelling is what also drives the narrative of the story. It's better to not run when your story is incomplete but rather walk a while to give it some context and interaction between the characters. I think it's overall great in my opinion, But if they ever do want to make another series for Sonic then I'm down. It's just that I want the team behind this show to take some notes and not rush a lot. Just try look at the feedback and criticism from the people who are passionate to watch a sonic show. Don't try to feel defeated and guilty, Act mature and firm to understand the criticism.

I keep hearing people say how they like that Sonic is arrogant and screws up, but then he learns and matures. I honestly can’t stand this type of story for Sonic. Sonic Lost World has the same problem as Sonic Prime, in this regard. Sonic was NEVER the type of character to screw up so he can learn a lesson. Sonic is incredibly capable and adaptive. Even Eggman admits it in Sonic Frontiers. This feels like purposefully dumbing down the character for the sake of telling a boring story that has been told a billion times before, because the writers are too incompetent to work with the characters as they are. You can even tell from how they needed to invent “other versions” of the cast. It’s disrespectful to the source material and it’s basically Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric. Have Sonic be a moron that leaps before he looks, breaks the pretty crystal, unleash the end of the world and have Sonic gather the shards of the pretty stone to save the world and learn how to not be a moron. This is Ken Pontac and Warren Graff level of stupid writing.

I'm a longtime fan of the Sonic games, having played them since the Genesis era. However, when it comes to the Sonic cartoons, I've always preferred the lighter, comedy-based ones (Adventures and Boom) over the darker, action-based ones (SatAM, Underground, X, and Prime). I was mixed on the first season because I liked the series' concept of Sonic travelling to different dimensions and meeting different incarnations of his friends, but wasn't a fan of its dramatic tone. I hoped to see more new dimensions in the second season, but Prime instead just gave me more of the same. Not to mention, Prime's incarnation of Sonic is clumsier and more prone to making mistakes he's unable to fix, a huge step down from his counterparts from the games and previous spin-offs. Yes, Sonic is egotistical and sometimes tends to take action before thinking, but he usually receives praise for saving the day. I haven't seen the third season of Prime, but from what I've heard, it's more formulaic than the first two, so I don't know if Prime was the first Sonic cartoon to break the chain of ending on a cliffhanger that will inevitably go unresolved due to circumstances beyond its control.

I may not agree on the "We have no choice" moment being "mechanical," but I definitely came out of this season pretty disappointed. I find it funny that you claim that how Season 3 wrapped up, and Season 2 by proxy, was less of a natural progression and more of the story trying to just get things done ASAP. I've lost my memories of Season 2, aside from me being one of the few people that legitimately couldn't stand Chaos Sonic, but Season 3 felt repetitive and dragged out. Mostly due to there being three whole episodes of the battle between Nine's forces and everyone else, without much story progression as it went on.
It was probably due to this formula that made me lose my sympathy for Nine. I still think he is a great villain/antihero, but his behavior just becomes possessive and less and less empathetic, far too determined to keep at offing anyone that gets in the way, just to get to Sonic. And despite how Sonic keeps up his mercy, and Nine did care about Sonic legitimately up until Sonic became a means to an end once the Grim was formed, it was getting irritating seeing Nine keep using the Prism to keep fighting, and Sonic continuously trying to convince Nine to stop. Already, Sonic wasn't at fault for everyone else not trusting him to set things right by trusting Nine, and Nine just wouldn't take Sonic's word for it. Really, if Sonic had been left to his own devices, and nobody else got involved... Sure, Sonic could have died (Which, despite obviously not being what was going to happen to Sonic), but Nine would have had more reason to trust him. He wouldn't be so stubborn, and probably wouldn't have cracked and let his unempathetic side go on full blast, had Shadow never showed up, and especially if nobody else showed up, either.
Probably the dumbest part was the death fake-outs. These are nothing new in fiction, and sometimes they can be pretty effective, but it didn't sit well with me to see Sails and Mangy's death fake-out. On one hand, I wouldn't want to see such lovable characters get killed off. Especially Mangy, who is my favorite character after Nine, despite this rant. On the other hand, seeing them disappear and supposedly killed was shocking, and left a positive impact on me when it sat for a couple of episodes, without any hints that they were alive. It felt that stakes were being set, with major characters getting killed off, and that would have at least added something impactful to the war arc, even for a children's show. But of course, it couldn't be that way. Not to mention, the fact that they flew away and we didn't get to see how it happened in a flashback, or even a hint at it before they explained it, made their death fake-outs feel more like a copout than the more shocking moment it was at first.

Interesting that you said you liked the resolution between Sonic and Nine, but not the fact Sonic didn't interact much with the OG cast. I feel the exact opposite way!
Considering most of the show was focused on the Shatterspace versions of Sonic's friends, I wasn't even expecting the OG cast to make a return, so I was pleasantly surprised. I guess Sonic's interactions with them could have been given more time, but I think giving them too much of a focus would have caused them to overstay their welcome, since we don't even really get to know these characters in the show. And I actually quite liked not seeing the other Shatterspaces as well, because that means it's kind of left ambiguous if they still even exist at all. I'd much rather believe they do, but still, not stating that explicitly gives the ending of the show some extra flavor and I kinda like that.
On the other hand, Sonic and Nine's resolution was quite touching, sure, but it also suffered heavily from the pacing issues you mentioned. In the span of three minutes, Sonic comes to fully understand Nine's motivations, Nine turns over a new leaf and leaves his anger for Sonic behind, and Sonic convinces his friends to at least not attack Nine. That's barely short of criminal. That's the resolution of the emotional conflicts of the entire season and the Chaos Council getting kicked out of the episode takes as much time as that. When Sonic sees the palm trees in Nine's lab (oh hey, that's where those went), there's still so much to unpack between the two of them and the final episode basically dashes past it. And actually, one of the kind of baffling consequences of that is Sonic having his friends promise not to bother Nine in the Grim. You've got a kid whose whole deal is that he was isolating himself out of fear and disillusionment for the world, a character who had the entire show deconstructing how he really wants nothing more than a friend, and your final sendoff to him is to force everyone to let him stay alone? Apparently, yes, because that's what the show knows about Nine at this point and it doesn't have time to estabilish anything else. I could go on about this (I'm restraining myself from talking about the start of Nine's Lives and also Dread's character resolution (though feel free to ask me about them if you're curious)) but I think I've made my point here - I feel like the show struggled to piece together a good picture for Sonic and Nine's resolution, and so I do too.

Great comment! Yeah, I feel like if they removed some of the excess fighting in the middle and put in more character interactions, Season 3 would've greatly improved. For me, the whole show feels meaningless if the shatterspaces were erased by the end. Multiverses do exist in Sonic lore, so I don't know why Sonic Prime should be left out of this. It also felt strange to me how Nine's arc is about him opening himself up to people and yet Sonic tells everyone to leave him alone. The ending felt so rushed and abrupt. Again, I suspect that the people making Sonic Prime just wanted to just tick off this show in their to-do list and move on to the next project.

      @@Ranni Thank you!!
I'd much rather the Shatterspaces still exist as well, and I do think the show goes in that direction, but I also understand how leaving their fate somewhat ambiguous or even erasing them entirely brings its own thing to the table. For starters, it sheds additional light on Nine's motivations - if he and everyone else are just a facet of Sonic's friends meant to be brought back together with the Prism, him trying to escape the inevitable collapse of the Shatterspaces and showing disregard for literally everyone else in them because of that inevitability takes on a new meaning. Admittedly, if I had to write season 3, I would probably just outright state the Shatterspaces still exist, but I would also probably follow the show's lead in not showing them after Sonic gets back to Green Hill: I kinda like the idea that, as Sonic has to leave the Shatterverse behind, so do we. If we had gotten a proper sendoff to the Shatterverse characters, it would be an intriguing concept, especially in the context of those characters being variations of the actual OG characters.
And yeah, season 3 could have used less fighting and more interacting. It's not like character interactions can't take place within a fight, or even take the form of a fight (that's part of why Avoid The Void is such a great episode), but the fights in season 3 don't really do that, since all of them have the same goal anyway - to stop Nine. The few interactions we do get in the fight feel shallow to me. I feel like they only work when they cap off something that was already going on (such as solidly establishing the friendship between the three Roses).
I'm not sure if season 3's treatment is because people wanted to just be done with making the show, I'm pretty sure the show was written pretty much as just one big thing and then was split into seasons later. You could still be right though. Honestly, part of me feels like it was made that way partially because they actually wanted all the action scenes, they wanted to show off all the cool stuff they could do with them. And yeah, they're admittedly very cool, but like everyone else has said by now, that does leave the season lacking meat to it.

I was really hoping the show had a bit of Ben 10 alien force quality writing, considering Man of Action's involvement.

7:47 not really. I mean did you see how they acted when Sonic was trying to be nice. They clearly don’t believe he changed as a person; and that’s another thing. If sonic really was selfish, he wouldn’t have even needed his friends at all. Oh and need I mention that sonic basically time traveled back to the pilot episode, which means that whole three season wild goose chase was…kinda pointless. So I can’t count on ever watching this show again (maybe just a couple episodes)

Can you do a Character Analysis on Stolas Goetia from Hazbin Hotel?
As I find it fascinating how the writing does such a great job at illustrating the struggles of being a parent that is homosexual.

Read if you like: For Ranni!
I feel that this is one of the best reviews of the show. You kept it short, while getting to the point. I feel like you summarised everything I liked and disliked about the show.
    What I liked:
I think Ranni's opinion is great. The show does have great animation which brings the characters to life! They do look fluid and, might I say, they are almost as expressive as that of Sonic boom [rise of lyric]. In Sonic boom Rise of lyric, you can tell the characters thought process, and tell what they are thinking of in the moment. Here, you can tell what the charecters are thinking, to a point. I think tails [base] looks weird tho.
I love how Sonic progressivly gets more sensible and reliable plus relatable. You can tell as time moves on, the other characters of the cast, even The Chaos council dolts [heh] can trust him, though it took some time.
The charecter design is top Notch and keeps things fresh to their own different themes. Sonic's sneakers changing in each shatterspace was cool too.
The cast is okay. Shadow is the only other base charecter apart from sonic and, I love that when you think about it, his boots don't change in the grim, because he wasn't part of it in any way as it was being created by Nine [but hey, that's just a theory, a film theory!] The different Amies[?] making a sisterhood was wholesome. I liked the Tails's tricking everyone to take control of that huge big too. Overall, good charecters. [I'm sorry but I couldn't be bothered to comment about the Chaos Council]
    What I didn't like:
Before we get to the ending, Yes, I DO think this season, leading up to the final episode was just a huge fight with random stops in the middle. I remember season one, every episode, we would be introduced into these different shatterspaces and would try to understand the different characters in their own right. With my sister, we began watching the show. In season two, she wasn't as interested after the first few episodes. Going back to the shatterspaces was cool and all but, the chaos council made things worse for me. Even though I don't hate the chaos council, they still had these stereotypes that made it hard to watch a scene with them without thinking, "These charecter traits are made for kids", or, "Wow that's so funny![sarcasm]. They kinda acted like they weren't thought out in the sense of "SONIC" villains. They were probably thought of as the different parts of Dr.Eggman's personality, but, they were executed as your typical textbook "funny" villain stereotypes.
Season three was weird. On one hand you have the grim, but on the other hand, you have all these charects in their own rights. I remember, when everyone was in the grim, sonic realised that not all his friends' variations [don't know what else to call them] were there. He sought to find those who were lost and decided to leave everyone to find them. The shatterspaces were getting sucked of their life and, sonic had to be quick so, he told everyone his intentions and wanted to leave, basically going with everyone else, except a few chaos council dolts. I know this was to show his care but, I think for me, it wasn't necessary. I think they could've done anything else with that precious time but, basically didn't.
The rest of the season basically went like this:
    Episode: fighting and talking
Next episode: same with a few changes
    Episode; sad but still fighting
    And so on.
When the first episode came out on RUclips, I started asking myself this question, "How are they going to get to the finale if we're already at this point [all cast in grim]?". Turns out, the basically stalled with fights and tricks until the last two basically. The fights were lucluster and weren't rewarding. I felt like I was watching just because it was new and not because i felt good watching these robots just not d¡e and keep on coming back for more rounds. The fights were repetitive and didn't have weight. There was a scene where there was this random pirate that wanted to grab the paradox prism, and let knuckles know it was ungaurded. Knuckles refused and didn't want to leave his friends behind. But, the whole scene felt like an afterthought and wasn't executed good. Causing this already random charecter, to look even worse.
Enough beating around the bush. Here's my finale review:
The ending was.... Anticlimactic. Oh no. How does a finale, become, ANTICLIMACTIC!? Isn't that exactly what you would try to avoid in the first place? Well, I don't even know. But lemme break it down for ya'!
    Here are the main points that made this season finale pretty bad;
    1. The build-up
The build-up to the finale was not rewarding! In season two, we could see that nine was cooking up something big and that kept me on the edge of my seat, everyday waiting to see what would happen next! But, nope. The continuation was not good. The first few episodes of season three were extremely boring because it was just endless fighting mixed with bad jokes and huge robots, while there was a side plot with nine in the background. It felt like I just wasted all that time waiting for a climax, just to be rusjed to a conclusion. Not great. The ending didn't feel like a true, proper climax to all thr hard work, it felt like they were just keeping us there until nine finally gave up. I bet, you could skip a bunch of these episodes, and just watch the last two and wont miss anything.
    2. The charecters
The charecters were rushed. What more is there to say? They were just throwing fist for an hour [our time] until Sonic, shadow and nine basically said, "Okay guys, let's say bye now".
    3. A deep dive into the final scene
I wasn't too happy with this ending. Obviously, the show wasn't made over time with account for the critism of fans, meaning the problems will always be there. This scene made me lose all hope.
Sonic and shadow confronted nine and tried to reason with him. Shadow jumped to conclusions, wanting to fight him straight ahead. As of MANY TIMES BEFORE, Sonic gives him a speech about friendship and stuff and, I get that he didn't give on nine and stuff but, I felt it got monotonous and nine did too.
Eventually, everyone is here and, sonic and shadow begin talking to nine. I felt this scene was too fast. Nine acted like he didn't just try to kill everyone in existence and reluctantly agreed. It felt too rushed. He didn't question his morals, just, went ahead and agreed why!? Eventually, they have to find a way to stabilise the paradox prism [?]. Sonic sacrifes himself and blah blah, he tries to say goodbye but everyone just tells him to move on and, the ONE time i want him to be relatable, its seen as CRINGEY!? This is why I hate kids TV stereotypes.
    4. Aftermath
He is taken home and the whole scene with his friends. Then he helps stop eggman [man did I miss him] and makes his friends chilli dogs. Bada bing, bada boom, cliffhanger, done.
Overall, good show. Through its glaring problems, this show shines for its story telling, and characters. I would like to think there would be a new season, but, nah. I'm done with sonic prime. I might watch it In a few years.
Im tired. I've been writing for an hour so... I know this might be more words than in Ranni's script but whatever. Feel free to drop your own opinion here. But I know someone will say, "I ain't reading all that".
    THE END.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it! Yeah, I agree that so much of season 3 is just a slog to watch through. I felt that a lot of the fights could've been replaced with more character interactions. I understand that Prime is an action show, but I feel like the show would've benefited from reducing the fight scenes, and when they do pop up make it really count and have weight. And like you, I'm ready to move on from Prime and see what other Sonic shows can be coming up.

I overall enjoyed Sonic Prime as a show but season 3 was so underwhelming. 1 Less episode than the previous two made this season feel rushed especially with its ending coupled with three whole episodes of senseless repetitive fighting. At least Shadow was good as usual 🤷🏾‍♂️

Season 3 is easily the weakest, pacing is way off, Shadow got shafted again, Sonic flip flops between fighting Nines and wanting to make nice. Its a mess.

I agree with you that Sonic was at his best in season 3. It was a bit jarring seeing him be so outright "technical" sometimes (felt kind of like hearing Tails or Shadow talk instead), but he was definitely very enjoyable to watch compared to at least season 1 and probably season 2 as well.

Rushed? I thought the third season could've been wrapped up as a 40 minute long episode. It had way too many repeating fights. Almost like they were padding it because they didn't know what else to put there.
