They need to announce a gh6 2 with PD next month so I can pair it with my Gh6. Because Panasonic decided to not put PD in this camera so many creators skipped it and don't realize what their camera systems are missing. GH6 is so far ahead of the competition for usability other than the AF. We love it for our needs.
@@angeloplayforone Nope, the GH4 replaced the GH3 in less than 18 months to give 4K (in crop mode). Keeping most of the GH6 the same should make it possible to upgrade the GH6 to M2 with PDAF after a year. As for sensor Panasonic would likely return to a sensor from Sony.
If you need to deliver in 4k then the GH6 makes a lot of sense as you get that post editing leeway filming in 5.7k... but for those of us who still deliver in 1080p the old GH5/GH5S is plenty good. I'd love for Panasonic to release a GH5 mk3 with phase detect, IBIS and a dual gain sensor (so we can get usable ISO3200) and maybe a few extra h265 codecs to save on space.
The only thing that is missing in this camera and makes people not buy it is the very fact that it does not have a phase detection focus, which means that it is really bad in focus compared to what we really need today..
In as much many grumble over Panasonic Focus issue, the camera is design to focus not on casual shooters but those who need more from small body and not really care about perfect auto focus.
@@daprincehwc no GHx or Lumix G for that matter have had perfect AF. As for the market situation it's clear that sales will be negatively affected by bad AF performance.
for "filmmaking" ya never ever use..autofocus. Sure, if you're gonna be a "vlogger" or "influencer" or some other social vid thing , yeah ya don't want to worry about focus while running around. But I was brought up working focus and not having to worry about a camera searching such as how the Nikon z7 will do for example. I Love the GH6..works well and in varying conditions.
I'd argue that you don't use autofocus for 2 reasons. 1 is that most cameras used in filmmaking don't have autofocus and the lenses used almost never have autofocus motors so it isn't an option. The second is filmmaking uses rehearsed shots with usually multiple operators including dedicated trained focus pullers with focus rigs and monitors. There is a vast sea of people who want to film that aren't in those situations with dedicated focus pullers so for them, the option of reliable autofocus could be a game changer to the way they can shoot. For most of my shoots, I'm solo and often am not able to set up rehearsed shots so when autofocus got reliable, it opened the door for me to get so many more unique shots that were impossible before. But I still love the Gh6, but reliable autofocus would have opened the door to many videographers who are more limited without it and Sony and Canon currently have reliable autofocus cameras

This would not be the best for autofocus. If you are wanting autofocus, look at the Sony FX30 if you're only shooting video or the Sony a6700 if you also shoot photos. You can check out all my gear and my gimbals in the video description!

Nah definitely avoid this unit and wait until the GH7 with PDAF.
Light your subject or retire ! Dan, all movie sets have a lighting team ! They're not just a kid with camera on a new gimbal ? Once the shot is lite right shoot footage. You're not from California ! We make movies !
Wtf??? People are allowed to make content without lighting teams and massive budgets. This isn't a freaking Alexa... This is a camera marketed towards independent SOLO creators. No idea what point you are even trying to make honestly. There are kids with a camera on a gimbal that have 10x the audience of your properly lit movie...and that's without a marketing budget
Gimbals break and you will not learn movie (know how) listening to untaught people ! @@learningcameras
Autofocus still sucks. Period.
The image from Sony A7S III is best
