No-one wants a new Jules Bianchi incident. Even when the red flag was shown within 8 seconds Max had to be the first car in the pitlane que to be able to get his preparation lap done in time for the checkered flag to drop. With the pitbox at the start of the pitlane and more drivers in need of a decent lap it was a mission impossible anyway. Max got lucky with Colapinto crashing no doubt about that. A crash however was almost a certainty in those circumstances. Max was asking for a red flag as all drivers were who hadn't pitted yet.
