Charles is the driver Max probably has the most respect for on the grid. Instead of whining about how Max drives like some other drivers Charles deals with it he knows how Max drives and defends him accordingly but cleanly.
A billion red flags and dnfs in both quali and the race. Constant VSCs and yellow flags. Weather chaos. Constant pit stop strategy calls. Yet, one thing remains. Our consistent king Zhou maintains his consistency by being last on the road. There is no man built like this man on earth🗿

@@nicholaskatsikas4904 There’s 3 more races to go with a Sprint in Qatar before the season ends. Currently Max has a lead of 62 points over Lando. If you do the math, after Vegas there will be a maximum of 60 points up for grabs (2 race wins + Fastest lap + sprint race win). Since Max has more wins than Lando, even if they tie at the end of Abu Dhabi, Max will still win the championship. So in the end Lando needs to outscore Max by at least 3 points in Vegas just to still have a chance at the championship (highly unlikely since Max needs to DNF both at qatar and abu dhabi, and Lando needs to win all races + fastest lap just for Lando to win the championship if he only outscores max by 3 points in Vegas. If he outscores Max by more than 3 points in Vegas, there will be a different possible combination)
@@nicholaskatsikas4904 Max is up by 62 points with 3 race weekends left. Lando would need to average 21 points MORE than Max at all 3 weekends to win. Not mathematically impossible, but very, very unlikely. For reference, the most points Lando has beat Max by in a single weekend this season is 10 points. It would *almost* take Lando winning the last 3 races (and the Qatar sprint) and Max DNF'ing them all for Lando to win.
Brake check a driver in Saudi - 10s penalty (Max). Cross a white line in Baku (Kimi) - drive through penalty. Cut the pit entry in Germany (Hamilton) - no penalties. Force a driver off the track and go off the track (Max) - no penalty. Force a driver 2 wheels off the track (Vettel) - drive through penalty. Overtake off the track while pushing a driver off the track (Max) - 10s penalty. Overtake off a track after getting pushed off the track ( Vettel) - drive through penalty. Maybe Dutch passport also has some benefits compared to the German and Finnish passport.
Maxs comment in the press conference was fantastic. He asked "Where are all the British press? Did they have early flights home?" He is a menace. Simply lovely.
All the Brits and Max haters had their mouths watering to cut down 18-25 points off the advantage. Little did they know that it would arse over tits and Max would wipe the floor.
Meh, it was good, but he's had a pretty extensive list of absolute bangers. There have been races where he was more epic. Here he was very surgical and the red flag definitely helped
@@Roguescienceguy I think he would have probably won without the red flag. Merc and Mclaren messed up pitting Russel and Lando early missing the VSC. Free tire change deffinatly helped but there almost certainly still would have been another safety car that the rest could have pitted during.

Of course Max his race is the highlight of this weekend but...when he went completly savage during the post race press conference I pissed my pants literally. Max: can I ask a quick question? And he says it with an icecold straight face 🤣 The reaction of the Brasilian journalists was priceless too 🤣
Lando saying it was "just luck, no talent", when Max defended him in Miami. When his pole was no different. No British media at the podium presser. What a shameful day for the brits in F1.

This victory from Max was such a huge success, a middle finger to British press, middle finger to all who wished him to fail, who tried to stop him in weird ways, well I think there were some stinky decisions this weekend, weren't they? Max showed who's the boss. I felt bad for Lando thought. But he just didn't do enough for a victory. Yes, that red flag helped Max but he showed such class difference in rain. You just don't mess with Verstappen.
People shouldn’t wise failure, but wish Lando and McLaren did a better job and beat Max to the championship where he doesn’t fail and it’s hard fought. You do mess with if you want a championship fight, Hamilton and Leclerc are the only two currently to fight him hard. Hungary 2024 with Hamilton defence and Brazil 2024 with Charles Defense. Oscar and Lando need to improve on that. Max didn’t show who was boss, a new champion will come but Lando and McLaren didn’t deserve this year championship by far.
@@ausriusdidziokas6771 Well, he kind of drove circles around the entire grid. I think he was the only driver on track who didn't make a mistake. It surely sends a message as to who they are trying to beat. Sure I agree with wishing McLaren and Lando did better for the sake of an exciting end to the season, but it's not needed to take away from a stellar performance.
The "penalty" for Lando for leading a crew of cars on a track with marshals and a tractor on it was in the realm of saying "fuck", so... that's proportional. Who in the FIA is McLaren paying?
Norris should have gotten a penalty for his off track adventure. He locks up, goes across the track, goes off, he loses about 4 places while regaining control. At this point he takes a hard right, cuts the entire turn and comes out ahead of Piastri. He gives back 1 place?!?! He ‘gained advantage’ on at least 3 more guys. Check it for yourself. If Max did that, they would be calling for a suspension.
Norris is not mandated to let the entire grid pass just because he went off track. He didn’t gain an advantage going off track and recovered properly. Like with Alonso at Sochi turn 1. It’s not his problem.
@@ingydegmar2060 I just mean that he did everything he could to win and was still caught out (he can't catch a break). His actual performance was awesome.

I was pissed off by Max's questionable moves recently but what a drive this was. Very well deserved championship it will be. We are lucky again this year to see all those fights.
Everyone was mate, the line was crossed. Although I was shocked when I heard he lost fewer points by doing so. He calculated the points and decided to make the moves. It’s obviously still not fair, but I did respect the calculations made in the heat of the moment. If it had been dry in Brazil these points could well have been championship deciding. Btw, I’m Dutch so I’m totally biased.
After all of Lando’s egotistical nonsense this year, I hope that Piastri wins the championship next year and that Norris fails miserably. So unlikeable.
Absolutely insane that two of the greatest drives ever in Formula 1 are from Max Verstappen on Interlagos in the rain. For those who don't remember: in 2016, he went from P16 to P3 in just 16 laps. It was his 2nd season in F1, his first season at Red Bull, and he was just 19 years old.
It's a shame, like Tommy says, that the greats are only appreciated long after their time. It's happened with Schumacher, Vettel, Senna et al and I don't want it to happen with Verstappen. We are witnessing sporting greatness in front of our eyes, so it's time we put our prejudices aside and appreciated Max a little bit more. Jeez, Sky would have me executed for saying that.
Having followed F1 for 35+ years, I find this a bizarre claim. Senna and Schumacher were widely recognized as all-time greats while they were racing. I don’t think anyone puts Vettel in that class, even years later. And Max had “best ever” claims years ago, before it was justified. About now, you can put him in the Senna, Schumacher, Fangio, Clark, Prost, Hamilton class.

That’s literally the most you can ask from a driver. Or maybe you like PR and then you can like Lando but even that he bottled it because you didn’t like what he said today.
Simply put, max wouldn’t have won had a red flag not be thrown when it was. He might have passed Norris, but it he would have probably finished 3rd at best so I completely understand the comment
@ this feels painful defending max - but he would have won that race regardless of red flags or safety cars - he was MILES faster than anyone else. The last 20 laps he was 1.5-2 seconds a lap quicker than everyone else! Lando made way too many mistakes so his comments felt out of frustration and a bit of resentment. Almost felt childish. What pitstop? Max didn’t have a dingle pit stop in the race due to the red flag. Great drive from him still but as a Russell fan I’m lowkey mad at Mercedes for the pit strategy
Classifying a perfect strategy call as “lucky” is such a loser british thing to do. I feel for Piastri the most, he's been giving up race wins and positions all for what looks to be for nothing. In the end them going all in on Norris could have meant that Piastri doesn't get 3rd in the championship.
I hope this ends now and they free Piastri and give them both fair strategies. Mclaren has put Norris first also in Great Britain leaving Piastri to crumble. I am so glad Webber is his manager.
Norris will never be a champion but not sure Piastri will either. When he's at his best he's one of the best on the grid but the problem is he's only been at his best for about 6 races this season and the rest of the time you wouldn't even know he was in the race. He's like the 2020s version of Montoya. If he doesn't improve a lot next year I think Mclaren should go shopping for a new driver because I wouldn't bet on either their current ones winning a championship.

Oh yes it is definitely over. This weekend/race showed in a spectacular way, that Lando does not have what it takes to be a champion… From needing lady luck twice, just to get to q3, to starting without green lights after the aborted start, to ONCE AGAIN loosing p1 in the first corner, to going off track and loosing even more positions, to needing his team mate to let him by, just to not do anything with it…cherry on top his disrespect once again showed a very uggly side…calling Verstappens race „luck and not talent“ is just…pure childish tantrum. Just like when he said Hamilton should have won every race, because he had the best car…Lando now had the best car for half a season and won a whole 3 races…by his logic he should be ashamed of himself. Next season will give us Piastri wiping the floor with Lando, and I‘m here for it.
I think that's exactly what it was a childish tantrum he was big mad! I don't doubt Lando is a lovely guy but when something doesn't go his way he can act and say stupid things.
THE LEGEND :: Nevermind this Norris Verstappen thing. The fact that Stroll managed to fly off the track on a preliminary lap is the stuff of legends. But that he then decided to drive through the sand that is there to stop drivers from hitting the wall, and beached himself in the middle of it, is the fact that will propel Stroll through the highest level of Formula 1 and beach volleyball hemisphere. 40 years from now, we will all remember where we were on that day.
I'd potentially argue that if this is the whole weekend, I'd give a 5 (leaning close to a 6) Sprint was very good, did take a gift from Oscar but beat the other teams and gave a good fight! Quali was a bit fortunate (as for every driver) but Lando was consistently in front with both Q3 laps Race though unforgivable, 30 great laps battling George Russell for the lead and an unfortunate first red flag works in his favour, but consistently botching starts and falling backwards really harms his grade especially as this basically ended his title contention.
Lando was a huge disappointment, he's an incredibly fast driver, he has the fastest car, he can't take advantage of his pole position, now when he loses it's just childish excuses. He went off the track and asked to change positions again. Now Piastri can race in peace and not have to help Lando all the time.

Red flag pitstop? Lawson waving him by? Norris and Russell getting unlucky with pitstops? This was a great drive, but a really lucky one as well. He got stuck behind Leclerc while Norris was driving away from Tsunoda earlier and got good when he got into clean air.
@iliketoast-q9b Exactly. Both things can be true: skill + luck. 3 drivers on the podium, 3 drivers who changed tires during the red flag. I don't think people appreciate that before Colipinto crashed Max was set to either to do a green circuit pitstop after the safety car bunched up the field, or do a safety car pit stop and go to the back of the field. I think Lando lost some respect for Max after Austin and Mexico. Plus Max has been dissing Lando calling the McLaren the fastest car, etc. while whenever Max beats Lando, Lando said Max did better. I am sure he was both physically and emotionally exhausted after that drive. Disappointed and probably said what he was feeling, but I wouldn't be surprised if his thoughts on what he said change after some reflection. No one went into the 2024 season thinking Lando was going to be challenging Max for the championship at any point. Literally the single mistake I saw from max was the slight twitch he did while behind Leclerc that costed him a few tenths which is insane considering the conditions and how everyone else was going off everywhere.
But the thing with Charles in this kind of condition he is averaged in wet, losing raw pace unlike when he is in the dry normal condition. He need to fix that to take it to Max as we need to accept wet/changeable weather are part of F1 calendar every season

Norris should have gotten a penalty for his off track adventure. He locks up, goes across the track, goes off, he loses about 4 places while regaining control. Pretty dissapointed how lando carried himself in the interviews downplaying the stellar job Max did and not aknowledging that he did quite a bit of misstakes. His comments regarding his pitstop saying it was just luck while max domenated the field is just childish, more so if you take into account how many people crashed this weekend so in the end it wasnt such a big gamble but a well calculated risk. Overall Max being super-human, while Lando disappointed on amd off track, lets see if the british media slander him the way they slandered Max after Mexico.
I agree. While ‘luck’ might’ve helped Max with that red flag, Lando forgot that Max went from P17 to P2 already, while Norris lost P1 again.
This is why I’m starting to dislike Norris this year. So childish of him, and he needs a lot of growing up to do.
Norris can say whatever entitled BS he wants because the British media wants him to be the next British champion so badly. It's not his first time dismissing the talent of the best drivers on the grid because he's salty they're successful and he isn't. He is and will continue to be a tier 2 driver at best because of this mentality, and the media feeds into it so hard by coddling him. Maybe if people did actually turn on him he might change his attitude and actually improve as a driver instead of asking his team strategists and engineers to turn his qualifying into wins for him.
AGAIN people just love to gaslight Lando to simply hate on him. He was ask about how the strategies plan out. And he stated that he was unlucky with the red flag. And suggest that gambling/timing a red flag was "luck not talent" (which it is). You can't predict a Williams to binned it into the wall at the right time. And he doesn't mention Max at all. Yet you all just love to taking him out of context.

How about reflecting on your own fk ups mate? Didn’t you bottle another start? How many times did you go off track(A Brit who’s supposedly strong in wet conditions) when Max didn’t go off once? Didn’t your team bring you into the pits again at the wrong time(When they could see Hulk getting a move on)?
He was lucky he was in a rocketship and when cars are equal in wet he can't deliver😂
Max was lucky + amazing skill. He needed both to do it but without skill it would’ve been impossible.
Like people praising him for the fastest laps that’s just because he had clear air like Ocon + Russel clear air was key for pace. But he got himself to that position so all credit.
luck might’ve helped Max to win with that red flag, but even without that, he went from P17 to P2 already, while Norris kept making mistakes and had to swap positions with Piastri in the end and still couldnt catch Leclerc

Most chaotic and certainly the best WEEKEND of the season, and the best qualifying session for the last how many years - The RACE itself was TIGHT with Silverstone and Montreal, but hands down, overall, it was the best RACE WEEKEND of the season and in the top 5 best races since Germany 2019. This race was so defining in the ability difference between Lando and Max - this race was more historic than Germany 2019 or Turkey 2020
Lando and George were only reprimanded for the formation lap infringement.
It should have been a slamdunk penalty. Think of it what you will but if it were Max he would have been disqualified.

I think that in 15+ years, once Max has retired, this will definitely be remembered as one of Max's greatest drives
I love how Tommy went on a huge rant about how unbelievable the drive from max was and brought receipts on other unbelievable drives from Hamilton, and Schumacher as well. Man knows his stuff.
Yeah such a shame i never get to watch M. Schumi in Benetton & early Ferrari years (most of his best drive/wet performance were during those period), i started watching F1 during the final 4 races of 2004 season & the last Schumi wet race win i get to watch is the China 2006 masterclass which put him right back on championship hunt vs Alonso
We just witnessed greatness 🙌

Best car. Red flag. Gifted by FIA who deliberately ended VSC when GR and LN were pitting.
Oh yes it is definitely over. This weekend/race showed in a spectacular way, that Lando does not have what it takes to be a champion…
From needing lady luck twice, just to get to q3, to starting without green lights after the aborted start, to ONCE AGAIN loosing p1 in the first corner, to going off track and loosing even more positions, to needing his team mate to let him by, just to not do anything with it…cherry on top his disrespect once again showed a very uggly side…calling Verstappens race „luck and not talent“ is just…pure childish tantrum.

THE LEGEND ::
Nevermind this Norris Verstappen thing.
Giving stroll an Adrian Newey car is going to by like giving a Rolex to a toddler
Driver ratings Norris any higher than a 5 is a disgrace. 3 botch starts and going wide
I'd potentially argue that if this is the whole weekend, I'd give a 5 (leaning close to a 6)
Sprint was very good, did take a gift from Oscar but beat the other teams and gave a good fight!
Quali was a bit fortunate (as for every driver) but Lando was consistently in front with both Q3 laps
Race though unforgivable, 30 great laps battling George Russell for the lead and an unfortunate first red flag works in his favour, but consistently botching starts and falling backwards really harms his grade especially as this basically ended his title contention.

@ElementOPain Let's see. He is not a newcomer though. Maybe Norris, although not championship material, is just faster than him - like he was with Ricciardo.
Verstappen didn't have a single track limit, Norris calling his win lucky after his own display is outrageous.
Max had a stellar drive but to discount the positions gained from others pitting and Lawson letting him by is hilarious. Lando had a horrible drive though. I don't think people appreciate that before Colipinto crashed Max was set to either to do a green circuit pitstop after the safety car bunched up the field, or do a safety car pit stop and go to the back of the field. Him not having to do that was luck. The passes he did make were skill.

It's a shame to see Lando speak so poorly of Max's absolute master-class when Max has typically only spoken highly of Lando. I think Lando needs to mature.
I think Lando lost some respect for Max after Austin and Mexico.
Plus Max has been dissing Lando calling the McLaren the fastest car, etc. while whenever Max beats Lando, Lando said Max did better.
It’s like Lewis bullshitting about Ferrari being 1s a lap faster while he’s on pole and Bottas was beating Kimi.
Lando has said things when he was emotional after the race that he later took back or said something different after he had a chance to rewatch, get more info, or cool down a bit. He should still be so proud of what he's accomplished this year, and try to learn from some mistakes or decisions that could have gone better, which we've seen him acknowledge and do in the past.
@@paperplane-db8qf Imagine defending a guy who told Lewis he got podiums when he had the fastest car, because he's apparently upset someone said the same thing about him LMAO. Considering, this year Norris has (a) had his first race win and (b) been in the WDC hunt for the first time. I too think he needs to mature, then I also think he should look back on this year, the good, the bad, the lessons. The way the things are going, next year he’s still in for a chance so long as he learns how to not lose a pole position start on the first lap. Oscar will put the pressure on of course.
