This is the most natural, relaxed interview I've seen with her. She's normally kind of on guard in other interviews. And Howard is holding his own.
The comfort of being in her own home seems to make all the difference
AGREED! GREAT INTERVIEW
That is exactly what I said about Hillary Clinton when he interviewed her a few years back. Even he said had she allowed herself to be interviewed by him before the 2016 election she might have won, the interview was that monumental (it really was the best interview she's ever done). There has always been this fear by some of being interviewed by him... But it turns out he's one of the best interviewers ever.
I guess cause it’s howard stern and she knew what to expect loo
It’s quite funny that Stern did a interview with Barbra Streisand because I’m remembering the time that Richard Simmons wanna to take Stern to see Prince of Tides!
That was first time I ever listened 😂 - I wonder if Richard was aware of the interview and would he listen?
I love Barbra as a Director. Barbra, please Direct another movie!
No studio wants her to direct cause she’s an impossible OCD pain. She’s talent more than anything.
The thought of Barbra playing Mama Rose made me fall out of my seat. How amazing that would be.
She would be great in Gypsy and she could definitely direct it as well. Sidebar: I just LOVED her in The Guilt Trip with Seth Rogen -- they were perfect together.
Love, appreciation and respect for Barbara for decades!
Her name is Barbra
Another fantastic interview by Howard Stern.
Jason is that u?😂
If she was gonna make changes to "Gypsy", then it's absolutely just as well that she didn't do it. "Gypsy" is about as perfectly structured a musical as you'll ever find. You don't make changes to that material; you honor and cherish it. The LuPone revival is a perfect case in point.
Please let Barbra direct a new GYPSY movie! It would be perfect! I can see it all now.
She would’ve been a great Mama Rose! Rosalind was the best though.
That isn't happening. We should let that go.
Prince of Tides was top notch.
Great interview. For her to sit for two and half hours means she liked doing it.
🤮🤢
The best in maybe 40 years.
Where can I watch the full interview?
Ya think... lol
agree .. I was just strolling youtube well not .. I watched an interview with Galye whatever on the morning show .. So now I pop on and I see an interview with Howard Stern? Please Babs, you don't need to sell that many books and his audience doesn't care. Very disappointed. Perhaps dementia @@bobwoods1302
I’m so sad we didn’t get her Gypsy
I don't know what it is about her that I find so intriguing. Even aside from her talent, of course.
The Way We Were will always hold the best place in my film loving heart.
Hardly a comparison. Streisand directed 3 films the last being 28 years ago, where as Eastwood has directed 41 and knows how to get a film shot in under 6 weeks.
Good point. It isn't for her lack of trying, she tried to get The Normal Heart made for over 10 years, but good point.
Barbra is a great director. I love "The Prince of Tides".
She has beautiful taste. Her home is absolutely gorgeous.
It’s a little kitschy.

Great interview !!!!
You can't always have everything... it's a powerful message we all need to hear.
Great interview!!
that triangle idea is a great one!
Shes around 80 y.o., looks way younger.
Looking good at 82 🎉😊
This interview and her audio book really let you hear the real person behind the legend.
There is no real person.
Very true statement!
Maybe she just wants to be free to enjoy her life with her husband and family!! Nothing wrong with that!
So silly that Sondheim couldn't see Streisand both directing it and starring in it. She's proven she can. The soundtrack alone would have been fantastic! Surprised at Sondheim's thinking. However Spielberg directing it? Yes! Missed opportunity. She should have done the role, period!
Fran Descher loves Babra so much, all the jokes, all the admiration; I wonder if a bunch of powerful women joins together to find the money, they'll succeed
I seem to remember Stern mocking Streisand relentlessly whenever Richard Simmons would come on.
“There are things in life that you cannot have” ❤ Wow, that’s acceptance!!
Barbara hugs and kisses. Phenomenal act
Love Barbra Streisand and to be interviewed by Howard Stern, double love!!❤️❤️
Barbie, I grew up listening to you and love you then, love you now! You are and always wiil be number ONE!
Howard’s getting everybody. Running out of icons that haven’t done the show 😮
He could have called it quits after Springsteen.
could've but then would of missed Jagger, Richards, barbra etc. @@cesarzunigany
Sitting on a literal throne
Maybe she will direct the Fartman movie.
She looks great! F Memet, give me Bobo anytime.
It took 15 years or more to get "Yentl" made so sometimes, thank God, she doesn't give up too easily.
Even Streisand needs to be directed.
She didn't give up over talking him......😊... just my opinion
Wisdom: "There are things in life that you can't have ! It was very sad for me." Cuts to the core of the human predicament.
She should be supported...😊
Her belief "There's things in life you can't have", is the reason why there are things in her life she can't have. Our beliefs create our realities.
Actually, the amazing things she's had in her life and career are probably the direct result of her believing in them. You DO know it took 15 years to get YENTL made? She is merely saying that one cannot ALWAYS get what one wants. Sure, she could have made another slight little telepic of GYPSY - or an independent film of it - made, but I suspect something rather larger, especially as her swan song, is what she was after...
Was Barbara on for the ring toss game?
A role in a musical too difficult for Barbra Streisand to handle and also direct? WTF, Sondheim!?!?
I think Barbra is mistreated by the industry; she is capable of everything; ageism and misogyny all together is the issu here
Boa noite 🌃💤 🥃💋💋
I thought the thumbnail was Ozzy.
lol
Waaaa I can’t do a movie
Which one's Howard?
Howard stern has become Barbara Walters
Richard Simmons once said on the show that if Howard and Barbra ever tried to kiss they couldn't because of their noses.
Richard Simmons is so nosey.
Hilarious?
That’s so funny.
clearly, such a profound statement by the great, smart and tall Richard Simmons.
lolita flores?
Steven Sondheim is correct. You can't/shouldn't do both Barbra.
3:06 I hope she picked up her earring.
❤️❤️❤️🎼🎼🎼❤️❤️❤️🎼🎼🎼❤️❤️❤️🎼🎼🎼
Bot
If she cannot make Gypsy, someone should get sued in a court of law!
WTF...In the 1980's Barbara despised Howard as much as Linda Ronstadt or Carnie Wilson lol Eventually they all submit to the King of Media!
People change over time
And he submits as well.
At that time he was asking everyone how much they weighed and to show their tatas.
Oh brother! Way too much hot air.
Poor babs
She could've made GYPSY happen but she dragged her feet. Probably for the best. No way can you beat Roz Russell and Natalie Wood in those parts.
She didn't drag her feet. They kept pushing shooting back, and they had no director.
Then it was up to Streisand to get that in motion. A good director is not hard to find. She could've directed it.@@JloveLamar
@@ScrapNfight did you hear anything she said in this segment? He wouldn't let her direct it and star in it, and they tied her hands every which way. There's a lot more to this story than this segment.
Do you know how many directors out there that would have LOVED to direct Streisand in this? Frankly, I don't know why she didn't do the TV version. @@JloveLamar
@ScrapNfight She tried to do it on television. HBO wanted to do it with her, and she went to him stating that were willing to do it, but he would not do it for under 1 million dollars. They offered him $250k. He wouldn't budge. What was she to do in that sense? She worked on this for 25 years.
. Lol😂
. Sandy😂
I wonder what Richard Simmons must be thinking.
richard simmons
Retiring from show business? She's 81. Lol.
oh look, a Gelfling 🙄
When two schnozs meet! Oye gevalt😂 😅😂
So Barbara has now turned into a early 2000’s Ozzy
Less than 2% of the population, yet they have a lot of power and influence
maybe if regular jobs didn't have No Jews signs, they might not have had to turn to entertainment for a living
You get damn good at the only four professions allowed you in Europe and America mid century.
Law, business , medicine and showbiz- all seen as vulgar back then. Jews were not allowed in the trade guilds nor were they allowed to farm in their own land in Europe.
@@johnnytimestamp8224 In what make believe world are employers in the United States allowed to discriminate on that basis?
early mid 1900's look it up @@jshepard152
Give up too easily? It doesn't show.
Seems she doesn't ever get what she wants. I wonder why?
Worth 300 million...oh the agony of not getting her way all of the time. Poor thing
She earned every penny!
Too many trolls😫
Her and Howard just complain.....
They both look as if they're wearing masks for a costume party.......
Green shouldn't be your color
I didn't know Streisand was still around 😅
She screwed Larry Kramer by playing around with "The Normal Heart."
Did you read her response to him? I can see both sides.
She bought the rights to make the movie, then delayed and delayed as people were dying of AIDS.
She is a great singer. Not a good director and only a fair actress. So full of herself.
Why do you think so? Yentl is a great movie, The Prince of Tides is very good. And a good actress. Why do you think she is full of herself?
Oh please
Wiggly looking in the mirror 😂 jeez
WOOF WOOF
What does that mean?
LMFAO@@fredradon2484
She’s 82 fcs.
Evil woman sounds as she looks🙄
Which one is Barbra?
First time I’ve seen Barbra interviewed by someone not in awe or intimidated by her talent, she is way more comfortable and comes across as a normal person, not a diva.
richard simmons
yes
