Just did an Iron fitting at PGA Palm Beach. There is zero difference in performance on the 2021 vs 2023 in the 7, 6, 5 and 4 . And as you move into the higher loft clubs 8, 9, pw and aw the new 2023 model did much worse . We ended up going with the 2021 model as both dispersions side to side , and short to deep were just better with the 2021 model.
Love the ‘23 P-790s .. 🏌️♂️🙌
I need help! What do we think about these vs the Stealth irons for player improvement irons and ones that are easier to hit
The Stealth is geared to the player that wants maximum forgiveness and speed. P790 is still going to offer forgiveness but will also incorporate more playability and feedback for the player.
Definitely stealth… however if you’re not a total beginner and a high teens handicap, these will do just fine. These are also useful for low-mid HC players, so from a longevity standpoint these are great
great video......i am 58 years old...7 handicap.....95 mph driver swing speed....i am interested in the P-790's but have an issue....which would you say is possibly the better club
P-790
JPX 923 hotmetal
Srixon ZX5 or 4
Titleist T200
I currently play the Taylormade Stealth......hit the 7 iron about 150 yards
thx and cheers from Canada
The P790 could be a good option, but the only way to know for sure is to find a True Spec location and do an iron fitting
Stealth lofts are jacked. Match it with a high launch shaft and your good to go…..maybe. You need to release in a manner that increases dynamic loft with forward shaft flex. If you cant do that, need 35* 7 iron and a bunch of hybrids…MUST GET THE BALL HIGH WITH STEEP DESCENT.
Kris doesnt look like how I expected from the fully equipped podcast lol. But these clubs look great as all the p790s have, the biggest issue has always been those flyers out of the center of the face and if they correct that then they have the best irons in the world on their hands.
Spoke to Kris on this. He’s sorry to disappoint but he has a face for radio 😂🙌
@@Truespecgolf tbh he looks better than i expected, the way he talks about himself youd think hes so big he could barely get a club around lol
Great review - what about the targeted customer for this club - Driver SS 90-100.
What handicap range would the P790 irons be appropriate for?
Generally speaking, mid single digit to mid double digit handicaps
@@Truespecgolf thank you
His just a hitter not a scorer.
Hit for the green!
I’ll wait for the P800 maybe the P900

Listening to them it sounds like the old were crap and the new are amazing, looking at the data they're almost exactly the same and the only person who'd notice a difference maybe would be a tour pro! Lol
Not sure where you heard us knocking the 2021. Our testing simply showed a little better dispersion down range, more consistent speed/spin and better acoustics with the 2023.
@@Truespecgolf you guys definitely kept dogging on the sound of the 2021 xD subtly made them sound like bad clubs, wasnt as much of a comparison as it was, these new ones are by far better is what it sounded like.
5 shots each really doesn't show anything. Minimum number of shots to be statistically significant is 20. I bet all those deviations would shrink as well.
LOL………Never ever pay attention to these infomercials. I’ve compared 1000’s of shots in the 4-7 irons over a couple months and the difference on course would be imaginary.
Another Taylormade gimmick, they are the only company that consistently releases the same product over and over again…
One time they put a wing on their driver, and that changed my game

I mean the only real issue people have with the p790 line is when you get those real crushing flyers out of the center, if they can fix that then these clubs are probably the best overall irons, they were already almost the best overall irons
Interested golfers should wait for the 2024 model rather. They will have clear improvements again, and definitely guaranteed.
Maybe it's the same club, I don't know because I never hit the '21. I spent 2 hours yesterday with the '23 though and my miss is a hook and I couldn't make it hook. It was like 8 feet dispersion. Maybe I was just having a good day though.
@@craciunator99I think that's what the internal finger structure is for. Very sophisticated design.
