Absolutely gorgeous machine and presentation :) Someone is offering me a Pfaff 1291, which looks identical to this beauty, except the one that is being offered to me seems a to have more signs of use, and the person selling it is saying that it is fully automated. Are they the same machine, except for the automatic aspect? would a Pfaff 1291 be suitable for leatherwork as well? Thankyou for any valuable input, would be appreciated. Great channel.

I recently acquired an identical Puritan Sewing Machine which is intact. I have been cleaning it up, lubricating it and am ready to learn to sew on it. If you still have your Puritan, can you post a video on how to thread and sew with this chainstitch leather sewing machine? I tried to access the Operating Manual on your Leatherworker.net post but it is inaccessible. If you no longer have the sewing machine, how can I get a copy of the Operating and/or Service Manual for this machine? I believe that there are many other Puritan Sewing Machines which need to be used. What an incredible leather sewing machine!
The horizontal catcher is missing or this machine is not equipped with thread cutter . Awesome machines I used to work in a shoe factory as a sewing machine tech had quite a lot of them pfaffs but I prefer the 491 Pfaff real master piece when you know how to repair other wise it's a nightmare
I want to buy pfaff 1295. The seller claims that the machine configured for edging is not suitable for sewing leather bags because of the needle plate and special legs for edging. it seems to me that he is deceiving me or simply incompetent. Please help me understand.

'bobbin case opener' (the arm that rotates the basket counter-clockwise 2 times at 1 stitch) timing is little bit late. thread must not touch to bobbin case opener for flawless stitching.
On many vertical axis hook machines you do have to hold the threads as you start sewing to prevent tangles underneath. It depends to some degree on the design of the throat plate and presser feet design, I think. This particular combination holds on to the threads well enough all by itself to start sewing without tangles underneath.
M en A Erik Fuentes No, this machine is a light to medium duty sewing machine. It will sew 1cm of felt, but not 1cm of hard leather or saddlery type work. Max thread thickness is about Tex138.
No, the 1295 post bed throat plates are totally different from the 335. It will be hard to find throat plates for the 1295 - they are very rare. The video shows a throat plate designed for binding, but with standard 1245 presser feet (these are the same for 335, 1245, etc.) The combination is not perfectl, but works just fine for most fabrics, vinyl, and leathers.
