  • This video is about Hook Timing Adjustment for Juki TSC-441 class machines (Cowboy CB-4500, Cobra Class 4, TechSew 5100, etc)
    The PDF file mentioned in the video can be downloaded here:
    docs.uwe.net/44...
    This adjustment video follows the Juki TSC-441 Engineering Manual for general specs, but I've made some changes to the sequence of steps that makes more sense to me.
    The sequence of steps in the video is important. Don't mix and match.
    If your machine is still under warranty, performing these steps may void your warranty.

    That is great work. It is so clear that I think that the engineer's of the machine could watch this and perhaps tweak their design to improve the thread handling while it is in reverse. Your videos are an invaluable resource. Thank you.

    Uwe, Thanks for providing the timing gauge templates that allow us to use your method to make the hook timing adjustment on 441 clones. Your video makes much more sense than the Juki TSC-441 Engineering Manual, and takes the mystery out of the process. Awesome job!

    A work of art, it is. Master of the machine you are. One of the best tutorials I have seen.
    Thank you so much.

    Since "the timing & the rotary settings" have a important-crucial role I think this video is one of the answer. From the background music , angle, clear picture, detail technics this video have a good taste... Big thanks from Indonesia!

    What does.. "Let's check the rear most position fo the shuttle mean" Is that as far as it will go back?

    I see you got a cb3200 a couple years ago. Have you had a chance to compare timing for it next to this instructional? Would it be the same or no?

    You are the very best at this Uwe. I wish you'd done one for the Adler 69. Having trouble centering the needle bar. Can't find the adjustment the manual refers to. Posted in LW but no answerws yet.

    Very nice video! Is this machine similar in design with the Seiko Ch 8B and the Consew 754R? Can I use this video to verify the timing and make adjustments on the Seiko and Consew? Thanks!!

    I don't understand the.... move the wheel... lock it... move the shuttle... unlock the wheel and move it.. which takes it out of the 0 position to be tightened in a random spot.

    Hello Uwe, we spoke on leatherworker recently about my Cowboy 4500. I was watching this video to check and correct the timing on my machine, and I ran into some problems I hope you can help me with. First, the rise of my needlebar at the 30 degrees mark is 7 or 8 mm on my machine. A rise of 5 mm is at the 24 degree mark. What should I use as a bearing for adjusting the timing the 30 degree mark, or the 24 degree mark? Secondly, the position of the hook needed adjusting too. I loosened the hex screw on the front side of the machine as described in your video, but there’s no movement in the hook. is there a way to solve this? Thanks again for your help!!!

    I can report these directions are not appropriate for the CB3200. The first adjustment of setting the needle bar height at its lowest point to 26mm is not possible. Using digital calipers I checked the measurement of my machine from the needle plate to bottom of the needle bar at its lowest setting and recorded it. I loosened the set screws and attempted to adjust to the recommended 26mm and it maxes at 25.8mm. I returned mine to its original settting and secured it.
    Hoping to locate detailed directions such as these somewhere. If anyone knows of any, please hook me up!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for showing. I always have problem adjusting the right tension of the thread. It looks very complicated and demands patience. I would like to get your opinion on which brand or machines to buy. I have been searching for a long time. Every brand said their were the good one. I sew clothing garments, but not leather. I love to make some purses and handbag, light and medium thickness. What do you think i should get? Would a true compound walking foot help better when i do lining and leather together? Appreciate any suggestion/help?

    Fantastic vidio .. Do you also have one on how to adjust the foot. Have just bought a CB4500 that should be able to lift the foot 25mm ... But mine can only lift it 12mm ... Missing 13mm in height to be able to lift up.

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  5 лет назад

      There's two ways to lift the presser feet on a 441 class machine - 1)by hand lever 2) by foot pedal. Only the foot pedal mechanism will provide maximum foot lift.

    • @mrjp1819
      @mrjp1819 5 лет назад

      @@UweXY When using foot pedal, the foot can only be lifted 14mm ..

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  5 лет назад

      @@mrjp1819 Then something must be out of adjustment or interfering with the full lift movement. Sometimes it's a simple as connecting the pedal higher on the pull chain. If you bought the machine new, contact the dealer for advice. If it's used and you need more help, I offer remote service calls via Skype or Facetime: uwe.store/collections/service/products/remote-service-call-via-facetime-or-skype

    Is ''needle bar to plate distance = 26mm'' a standart for industrial sewing machines? or for just this class machines?

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  7 лет назад

      The 26mm applies only to this class of machines.

    What is opinion about rotary or oscillating shuttle (this machine for example) hooks for stitch quality and stitch fail probability? Which is better?

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  7 лет назад

      Most modern heavy duty stitcher use oscillating shuttle hooks like this machine. Rotary hooks are found mostly in light to medium duty machines. There's not a huge difference in stitch quality between the two systems, it's more about thread handling capability. The real difference in stitch quality comes into play when changing to needle+awl stitchers, which can produce stitches that look identical front and back. No machine I'm aware of can produce a true handmade saddle stitch.

    • @ryanstruk1
      @ryanstruk1 5 лет назад

      @@UweXY Do I understand correctly that rotary hook is for speed and a very narrow range of thread sizes, whereas oscillating runs at lower speed but can also handle a wider range of threads (so they use that in domestic machines for versatility)?

    Would this process be the same for a CB3200 machine? thanks

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  4 года назад

      It might be, but haven’t timed a CB-3200 yet, so I can’t be sure. The internal design of the CB-3200 is similar, but not identical, to the CB-4500.

    What is the purpose of this modification?
    We loose bottom feeding and gain what?

    • @stevekrantzman2054
      @stevekrantzman2054 4 года назад

      This is not a modification. These are the steps need to adjust the timing (or readjust your timing if it gets thrown off) of your 441 so that the machine sews correctly without missing stitches. As Uwe mentions, these follow the timing specs in the Juki engineering manual.

    Hallo. Passt diese einstelung auch fur Adler 105-25RM?

    • @UweXY
      @UweXY  6 лет назад

      Ich habe leider keine Adler 105-25RM oder deren Serviceanleitung um beide zu vergleichen. Die Einstellungen der späteren Adler 205 sind jedoch sehr unterschiedlich im Vergleich zur 441 Klasse. Die 205 Anleitung ist wohl ein besserer Ausgangspunkt für Einstellungen an der Adler 105. Die Adler 205 Serviceanleitung findet man hier: www.manualslib.com/manual/461596/Duerkopp-Adler-204-370.html
