Not only was 49er fever HUGE, everybody was absolutely enamored with our “new” quarterback. We almost couldn’t believe that we had such a good team. Then to win the first Super Bowl…CRAZY!! Joe is the GOAT, the game was much tougher when he played, you could not sit in the pocket very long or you would get your head torn off. Now you cant breathe on the QB without getting a roughing the passer call, so todays QBs have it much easier. I am not saying Brady is not great but he has had the benefit of a much easier path due to the rule changes, which I may add are good but the calls are not consistent regarding the roughing call. Also Montana is such a humble and nice person, you have to like him.

The greatest playoff QB in history was Bart Starr who was 9-1 and won 5 NFL Championships and the first two SB's being MVP! Starr in the 1960's had a QB rating of 104.3 over 10 playoff games with 15 tds and 3 picks and a 8.23 yards per attempt! No other NFL QB has been that good and that was the 1960's rules and defense!
