As a non-traditional pre-med student, your vlogs have been so inspirational to me. At times they have given me that little extra push to keep going. Reminding me of my passion to serve my community.
I had a med student in the OR for my c-section with my first child. The attending asked the med student to walk her through exactly how the surgery would go. The very first thing out the med student's mouth was "First, I pick up the knife...." The attending immediately responded, "Chefs use knives, doctors use scalpels. Try again." 🙂I was terrified of being awake during a surgical procedure, but that one moment of levity distracted and calmed me so much.
I had two high risk pregnancies and you remind me so much of my obgyn that made me feel so safe and comfortable throughout both my pregnancies and labors! Keep up the good work I love watching your journey !!!
Every week, these vlogs are a treat for my daughter💕. She is prep for her UCAT exam now. She feels she needs to pass her exams before she starts commenting on your vlogs and videos. She is so keen to show you her work ethic before her writing. Her birthdayis next month and she asked for your herd T-shirt to keep her going 🏃♀. I couldn't find the herd coffee cup in your shop collection. Lots of Love 🥰
omg the loosing hair .. its all stress related ... haven't found a solution yet :'(... so happy to see you in such a good mood and exciting time of your life, as always love all the way from an Argentine Doctor in Germany.
The notability app is great for note taking, you can connect to your Mac and the notes update real time. Also having a paper like screen protector helps so much!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your vlogs. With your IPAD and the note-taking. Get a paperlike Screen Protector with an Apple Pencil. It will be life changing and help use less paper, less waste, etc.
Your insights are so, so helpful and so, so honest that I'm looking forward to every single week. Your vlogs have such an impact on my learning experience outside of my own med school experience. Hope you're doing great, have a wonderful week!
You being so excited with all this is so adorable!!!! :)) I got an Ipad too for myself because I will be going to physical therapy school in 2 weeks. I also really like good notes too it is awesome!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying and love learning!!! I love learning too, love busy days because of productivity and the tasks test your knowledge like you said ! ❤️
It is so obvious how much you love this field of med. You are glowing and 'jumping' with excitement. Blessings to you. Good luck have fun and keep up the excellent job. Keep well from Trinidad and Tobago❣️
I'm not a doctor or studying in the medical field but I love the way you study. I am thinking about using the same study tools as you. I love your content!
Congratulations ❤❤❤I’m happy to no that you enjoying that part of medicine. I so a delivery and a was the most amazing experience . And for my surprise is no fowl smell . That is exactly how baby’s smell . Wow , amazing…. !!!!!! ❤❤ Take care .
Hey Rachel! Former MA to several dermatologists and current PA student (aka a fetus that doesn't know much yet!). Obviously best case scenario would be go to the doc and have a workup regarding your hair loss (as you know), but from watching the dermatologists I worked for, I bet they would recommend you start using minoxidil 5% otc for your hair loss. It's super cheap, effective, and they use it in isolation or as conjunctive therapy for most all types of hair loss! Just something to consider and something you can pick up at the store while you're waiting to be seen by a physician. Hope you're doing well--hair loss can be so stressful!
Hello Rachel. I also lost a lot of hair last year--the loss rate has finally slowed down. After I washed my hair and then combed it--yikes--so much hair in the comb! The look on your face after your shower looked like mine last fall. For me, I attribute it to stress and that may apply to you too, Doctor Girl! And with the hair loss, there was a time lag between the stress and the hair loss, making it more frustrating to understand. I can't say for sure if it made a difference, but I started taking some biotin daily (or when I remembered to take it). Even if it is a placebo effect of making me less stressed over my hair loss, it made me feel like I was doing something to combat it. Hugs!
Before shampooing ur hairs always oil ur hair with mustard oil or coconut oil or onion oil the night b4 n oil the roots nicely also cut caffeine as much as possible
Rachel, for your hair, you’re probably experiencing a bout of telogen effluvium. I’m guessing from the previous studying for boards and stress/anxiety for them. It usually occurs 2-3 months after a high intensity/stressful event. Could be just that 🙂
I love watching your videos! I’m an RN in labor and delivery and I would LOVE to hear how your experience has been with the nurses on the units. You’ll be working super closely with nurses in residency most likely so I’m just curious how a newer doctor/student feels when working with nurses in L&D. Love your content!! And would love to work with an OBGYN like you any day. Your passion is so refreshing!
So proud of ya! Keep going friend 😊 -also- a paper like screen protector helps when taking notes on the iPad. It also prevents your screen from scratches from the pen.
You should try Notability. It might not be comprehensive enough for what you’re using, but it is free so nothing is lost if you hate it. I used it for years in school and totally would’ve continued using it if the iPad I used it on didn’t belong to my school.
I’m not sure why but I’m also losing clumps of hair as of late. Like I used to lose hair but lately its been horrible. When you mentioned it you made me think about it. I should do an appointment with my PCP.
Greetings Ms.Southard, The distinguishing aspects can be appreciated in such a way that Osteopathic med deals Path & Physio but ObGyn deals Endocrine & Neuro. Possibility of CCD - Cleidocranial dysplasia shall be evaluated during labor in all aspects Take Care.. With regards, RanjithJoseph (R.J)
You should get your vitamin D and iron levels checked for the hair loss, I was losing so much hair when my vitamin D was low but I started taking D3 drops and in less than 3 months I was back to healthy full hair and normal levels!
Always a motivation 🙂❤ Rachel have you given any thought to what's next after you officially become a Doctor ? Will you change the model of your channel to something along the lines of Dr. Mike or ?
Hey Rachel I’m Harry I’m a big fan of you it’s nice to meet you Rachel I hope you you are doing ok today it’s Harry Rachel I hope you have a good weekend today Rachel
Rachel, I feel like you would enjoy one of those ipad screen protectors that feels like paper! I have one and it's a game changer. also, I totally know what you mean about using your phone instead of an ipad on rotations, it feels awkward lol.
As a non-traditional pre-med student, your vlogs have been so inspirational to me. At times they have given me that little extra push to keep going. Reminding me of my passion to serve my community.
Exactly the same, I almost wrote something nearly identical.
Y’all are going to be amazing physicians!!!

All of the deliveries!!! Which one do you like more - OB or Gyn?? Is that even a fair question to ask?!?!

So proud of ya! Keep going friend 😊

YAY! So excited 😆
You are a inspiration and motivation for me ❤🙏
Hey Rachael!
I am pre-med now but I scribe for a PCP physician. Often times, hair loss can be linked to iron deficiency! Get some lab work!!
I’m not sure why but I’m also losing clumps of hair as of late. Like I used to lose hair but lately its been horrible. When you mentioned it you made me think about it. I should do an appointment with my PCP.
Hi Rachel, Love your vids, so much! First time at premier ❤
Congratulations 🎊 and love ❤️ watching your vlogs on your life in residency. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏
keep going you are doing so so well god bless you
It could be the drink, that you’re drinking. I might be wrong but double check the ingredients and side affects.
Noooo the hair loss has been longer term than the drink.

Are you in Canada Rachel??

Your school...gave you an iPad? Wow
More and more schools so that nowadays
With med school tuition rates, the least they could do is give students an iPad lmao
💖💖
Girl your hair is getting very thin. I think you need to slow down a bit and take some time to take care of yourself.
