True shrek was also turned into his human form, and fake shrek was thanos, using his disguise to hide in plain sight.
This sounds like a good plot for Shrek 5.
If you read the manga you would know that when the swampwars began chancellor farquad secretly cloned shrek but the second shrek used a potion to make him look human to escape the clutches of farquad. When the war was finished he would live alone in the desert of area 51, looking over a young Luke onionwalker
