  • TM Garret became a neo-nazi skinhead at a young age and then grew up to become a Grand Wizard of a KKK group based in Germany. One day though, he decided to cut ties and leave that life behind him.
    VICE Met up with Garret to hear his story and understand what it means to be involved in - and leave - a white supremacist group.

      Why are their faces censored in the thumbnail?🤔 I want to know who these white supremacists are. They posed for a picture, why can't you show them? Expose them for their hatred. This is why Amerikkka is still racist, because you give others the leeway to be covert racists. This is disgusting and their names should be tarnished. Instead, you decide to protect their identity. They make the laws that disadvagtge minorities, they are in the government, the doctors that maltreat minorities, they're teaching ALL of our children, but this is how they feel.Just like after Charleston, they were teachers And people in government. There are KKK members in government and with you not REPORTING AND COMMITTING TO DUE DILIGENCE, these people will always lurk in the shadows. And if anyone says it's "just an opinion," then why aren't their faces shown. I like pineapple on pizza, I'll show my face after that stament.

      Anıl Polat he’s referring to the Young Turk’s genocide of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks on the basis of their ethnicity rather than on their faith which though often tied to ethnicity can be separated. the Young Turks were largely secular nationalists so being a Christian Turk would have probably been fine but being a Christian Armenian was an entirely different matter, just look at the Turko-Kurdish conflict and they are both largely Sunni Muslims so it can be shown that ethnicity is the main divider.

Don’t you think YOUR assumptions about others might be part of the problem, too? Because if you really think the vast majority of liberals are like that, you have a very, very incorrect understanding. This is what hatred is formed from: not getting to know the people you hate, misinformation, and lack of understanding.

      Sometimes its about where you start and what you do. If your comment has any validity then I'd direct you to dozens of serial killers who claim to be reformed Christian's now. Perhaps the parole board would be interested in your sentiment. I for one would hope not. We should forgive but there are limits to how we should treat people who've done terrible things.

    • @acetate909
      @acetate909 5 лет назад +11

      @Imperator
      Redemption is a fickle word whose meaning changes depending on who's using it. I'm taking about the most severe cases of psychopaths who've murdered people with absolutely no remorse. I'm am 100% in favor of criminal justice reform and believe America has a severe problem with incarcerating non violent offenders. My point is that the sentiment of this comment feels nice but it's just a fluffy phrase that breaks down when applied to the real world. Again, we should forgive everyone and treat them with dignity and respect, even and especially the worst offenders but its naive to think that peoples actions and past dont matter and that it's really about the last thing that they claim or do. Nonsense? Which part?

    • @acetate909
      @acetate909 5 лет назад +7

      @Imperator
      I never claimed or implied that people can't change, feel remorse, or be rehabilitated. Experts across the field agree that psychopathy is chronic and people afflicted with it are not capable of any of those things. You're arguing against something that I never said. Most prison inmates are capable of change and it does happen all the time. Again, I'm talking about specific cases.

    • @starrgazer9
      @starrgazer9 5 лет назад +8

      @@emperorstevee No, but it's something I concluded by myself.
      I used to be one of those people who felt no sympathy for racists and hated their existence as much as they hated mine. As I got older, I became wiser and started understanding things differently. I realized they're the product of an unfortunate upbringing and weren't given the chance to be around different people, to love one another and see that our outward differences don't reflect who we are on the inside, or that who we are on the inside can't be determined by our appearance.
      These are things I learned naturally in a diverse environment. Their life was different, their views & beliefs were shaped by their parents through keeping them away from other ethnic groups and feeding them information about us that paints us negatively. Without proper exposure, the only perspective they do have is that of their parents, grandparents, etc. It's indoctrination, brainwashing.
      Once I realized that, it became impossible for me to hate them, I instead felt bad for them (hatred is never healthy anyway). So I decided rather than talking crap and hurling out insults if someone says something racist, I should preach love.
      They can call me the N word a 100 times, it won't hurt me because they're calling me that. It would hurt me to see how they've been brought up in this world without knowing love. We're all born innocent, eager to understand and learn our new world outside our mother's womb. But that innocence & curiosity creates a vulnerability where negative elements can easily influence us if not safely guarded from it.
      Can't fight hate with hate. The existence of hatred in any capacity is due to the absence of love. Those of us who truly understand love (which is not everyone) must be the ones to deliver it to those who need it, by any means.
      My bad for going past my initial answer, I felt like explaining myself.

This especially happens to people that has a low income/are religious/wants positive feedback from the world.

    Very beautiful story Vice. Wow. So much empathy, so much introspection. It really shows how much we need to communicate more. The more we gossip, assume, hate, or judge, the more we create imaginary boundaries that don't really exist. We need love.

    Formula:
    Step 1) Community ostracizes someone
    Step 2) That person becomes sad and filled with bitterness
    Step 3) Either that person implodes (depression) or explodes (aggression)
    Step 4) A hateful ideology attracts ostracized individuals where they can jointly express their inner-bitterness (aggression) and regain self-confidence
    Cure:
    Reflection, forgiveness, responsibility and wisdom.

Genuinely admitting, owning and learning from ones mistakes shows, at the very least, the will to grow and change. This is so nice to see especially given whats happening right now. It just shows that people are victims of their circumstances and sometimes take the wrong road. The ridicule that these people are given in society obviously contributes to them staying there so we should be applying this to society in 2021. Embracing and re educating those with these views and showing forgiveness is so important.
