Their McDonalds must be more efficient than ours, in my city the sundae machine is always "down", never working properly. I love the idea that McD has their own dairy farms where the produce the milk. Oh, fellows, if you only knew.
My first thought was "They're machine was working???" lol
You want to know why it's "down" all the time? Restaurants are limited to buying 1 specific model/brand of machine. Every day it has to complete a cleaning cycle which requires certain temperatures to be achieved to sanitize everything. If the temperature is off by just 1 or 2 degrees the machine gives a cryptic fault code and a maintenance tech comes and resets it. And since theres only 1 brand/model of machine in every Mcdonald's the company has no incentive to fix it. It's much more profitable to charge McDonald's for a service call.
Here in Costa Rica people go to McDonald's mostly to get a Sunday or a Mcflurry than for the burgers lol

I live in Peru and my in-laws do that when ever they visit and I order food delivered. They always want to save the plastic containers even though they are low quality plastic and won't last more than a couple uses...

I always save the plastic take out containers from our Chinese take out. Those things last a good year!
I clean and save the nicer take-out containers to give leftovers to guests since they don’t have to feel obligated to clean and return the containers.
Those clear containers are multi purpose. Small item storage, miniature cold frames for seeds. LOL, I know after having lived on a tight income I look at things differently now.
So happy they found an ice cream machine that was actually working!

Outside of the US the machines seem to work just fine. I live in Peru South America and every McDonalds I have visited here over the years (in different cities) has always been working. People actually buy more ice cream here from McDonalds than they do the food. So much so that the malls generally have one Ice Cream kiosk at each entrance as well as at the actual restaurant in the food court (each with their own machine).

If their local ice cream is sending kids to the doctor, it sounds like there’s some sort of chemical in that product that shouldn’t be there. And for the record, McDonald’s doesn’t serve ice cream it serves ice milk. Although the ice milk product has improved over the years. Additionally all milk products are known to increase mucus production and thereby possibly cause a cough temporarily but it shouldn’t cause any sort of Long term problem.

I tried to find some information and all I could come up with was that in 2018 the Punjab Food Authority found 47 brands of ice cream were unfit for human consumption; I couldn't find out why though.
So basically you could call it an old wives take or whatever, but in this region it is thought that cold items such as ice cream give you a sore throat.
Years ago here in Spain people believed that eating or drinking really cold things in hot weather would give you a sore throat. It's just one of those bits of conventional wisdom based on nothing. I haven't heard anyone say it for a long time, guess it's out of favor now.

I don't believe that's from McDonald's! They don't have working ice cream machines. In the last ten years I've moved from Washington state to Arkansas and now Las Vegas and in those ten years and 3 different states, I have still yet to find a McDonald's with a working machine!

I can't help but wonder what is the story with local ice cream that raises concern that it is unhealthy. Especially compared to any McDonald products.
Two of them mentioned that it hurts the throats of kids when they eat it but I can't figure out why. It's just sweetened condensed milk, nuts and flavorings, right?
