      Mesopotamia and Mesoamerican are cradles of civilization where agriculture was first introduced, and thus, many plants were domesticated that form the basis of those cuisines.
      Most of the foods that form the basis of Mexican cuisine were domesticated in Mesoamerica: corn, chocolate, tomatoes, peppers, many beans, turkeys, melons and squashes, potatoes, avocados, jicama, papaya, sunflowers, vanilla, now called Spanish vanilla, and many, many other.
      Their cuisines are full of flavor and spices, which is why they resemble each other.

It would be fun to watch each family come in and the guys cook for them and see what the reaction from the family might be. Or bring ion the families and have your chef cook for the entire family and see how the interact as a group to a single food. 4 Families and you could come up with 4 full episodes would be fun. You could make a separate dish per family. One time burrito, another fish and Chips, then maybe something as simple as a loaded baked potato or even chili or stew. At the best burrito places here in AZ, there is no beans or rice (though you can get it optionally, it's not traditional for the burritos here). It's just meat and pico de gallo, with cheese sometimes added. My favorites are the adobada and the al pastor burritos.

      In Mexico, the salsas rely on the types of peppers used, either fresh or dried. It would be hard to recreate more than a couple of them where they are because they don't have as many varieties of peppers there.

    Burrito is the diminutive of burro(donkey). "Juan Méndez, a street vendor in Chihuahua, Mexico, invented the burrito. During the Mexican Revolution in the 1910s, Méndez decided to wrap his food in flour tortillas to keep it warm and transport it on his small donkey. He then realized that wrapping the food in a tortilla was tasty and a good way to serve it."

    • @olderthanyoucali8512
      @olderthanyoucali8512 2 года назад

      People were wrapping food in tortillas in Mexico long before 1910 and in other areas that were formally part of Nueva España which became Mexico in 1821. His only valid claim may be for using the name Burrito? We have called the food that's wrapped in a tortilla a taco way before I ever heard it called a Burrito. I'm 79 and my family came to the American continent in the early 16th century, and we are part of the first pioneers who came to settle California in 1775 and rolling up a tortilla with food is something we have always done and we didn't need Juan to show us how!
