In those days the Montréal Canadiens were almost unbeatable ! They were the greatest dynastie in hockey history ! The Montréal Canadiens will never be matched ! The greatest hockey team " of all time " ! 🙂👍
1971 SC was an exciting one for Habs fans, as the Habs were complete underdogs not given a chance to win. The games were full of mistakes, but Dryden made the difference. Of course, all games were big disappointments for the losing teams and fans. Exciting as this 71 SC was, the most exciting series in NHL history was the 1979 semi, Habs vs Bruins. 79 was 7 games in OT, true grit against finesse, the most hall-of-famers on ice in history, where a single mistake cost both teams games, a nail biter for each shot on goal, electric tension. 79 was the end of an era.
I know, the hawks were up 2-0 late in the 2nd , and were 3-0 at home in this series , they had it all !!! Then lemaire blasted that puck thru the middle of my forehead !
I remember listening to this came when I was 9 years old on WMAQ radio, in Chicago as the game was not televised locally 🤔 The great Lloyd Pettit had the call on the radio. I was CRUSHED when the Hawks lost. They HAD that game in the palm of they're hands and gagged it away 😤😤😤
@@dairyqueennewton7289 I actually read about the Habs team was about to mutiny after the fifth game and wanted their coach to be let go. Much dissension going into 6. It should have been the Hawks series at that point. Hawks came at them hard and had the lead in game six but couldn’t close the deal. Those Mahovlich brothers saved the day. Sadly we all know about heartbreak game seven.
Thanks for that clip! Unfortunately there's a background noise with a very high pitch frequency and it's unbearable. I couldn't listen past 9 mins anymore.

One of the best Stanley Cup Finals ever!

This was tough to handle as a Blackhawks fan, 2010 2013 and 2015 has made up for this
drydens save on pappin one of all time greatest...this after pappin scored a masterpiece of a goal in game 6
If I watch this enough times maybe Tony-O will stop that Lemaire Long-Distance Slapshot......

Lemaire's shot was tougher than it looked to stop
The games are all jumbled. There are exerpts of game 6 following game 1 And so often we see the crowd cheering when the visiting team scored a goal!
Do you have 1973 video
Id like to see the full game 5 where the Blackhawks won 8-7

the nonstop music didn't drive you away?
@@raccoon874 I just wrote what drove me away... The non stop music isn't that bad, it's rather the high-pitch noise which is unbearable.
@@HawkFest no wonder my dog was howling
@@raccoon874 lol
That Chicago team is one of the greatest teams not to win the cup. 😊
4:01 Wham!😵💫
Go hawks
26:40 *he was SO SURE it was going in, probably woke up for years dreaming of that shot*
