I am an Australian Christian and I haven't noticed anything about Christians being arrested for praying . I think this guy might be confusing us with the UK...?
I'm also an Australian Christian, and I while I haven't heard much about being arrested for public prayer, I HAVE noticed a lot of other anti-Christian sentiment, at least in my town. A lot of vandalism, arson, protests in front of churches. Recently, at a Catholic mass, a man walked in with a knife, stormed up the steps to the altar, and drank the cup full of wine. The man was arrested out the front of the church. Since Australia is closely related to the UK, I think we will be seeing a lot of the hatred native to UK politics in the coming years.
The issue with nationalism is the implication of homogeny and erasure. For most of the rest of the world, there is little to no distinction between nationality and ethnicity--by proxy culture. The US, UK, Canada, and Australia make room for and support that distinction, implying that a nation doesn't have to be ethnically or culturally homogeneous to be united. That's why Patriotism is preferred over Nationalism.
@BlessGodStudios Patriotism is being for the country you call home and for your fellow countrymen without any cultural or ethnic prerequisite, and being willing to go to bat for the country and its citizens. Nationalism has, and enforces, cultural and ethnic prerequisites. For example, in Canada you can be a naturalized citizen, your loyalty lies with the country, and you support the welfare of fellow Canadians (and not necessarily Justin Trudeau's policies lol) who may be ethnically Turkish, Colombian, etc. then you're a patriot. Conversely, in China (full of actual communists) even though there are 30-40+ different ethnic groups in China, if you don't support the Han Chinese ethnic group (the group most people think of when they think "Chinese") and/or if you are not ethnically Han Chinese--the amount of time you've lived out Chinese culture and been naturalized as a citizen doesn't matter because you'll never REALLY be Chinese or a part of the TRUE "Republic of China". There's no separation of nationality and ethnicity/culture in nationalism--they are instead prerequisites. TLDR; Patriotism = Love your country; there's no 'one, "perfect" way' to do it Nationalism = There is only ONE "True/Perfect" way to be an ACTUAL citizen of *insert nation here* (usually meaning you have to be a certain ethnicity and practice certain cultural norms--not talking about minor levels of assimilation) I hope this clarifies things!
that sounds a lot like an American patriotism, because it has in itself the idea of liberty and individualism ("pursuit of own happiness"). But I don't think patriotism doesn't relate at all to culture. After all patriotism defends the tradition of the people, our land, our parents (that's where the word patriot come from, pater: father). Not that there can't be more than one culture, but there has to be a main one, otherwise it's just multiculturalism. Nationalism it really depends how you define it politically and there's not one deffinition. The concept was introduced after the French Revolution with the creation of nation-states. So you had multiple countries (England, Germany, France, etc.) constructed as 'nations' on the basis on language and geography mostly. So it's the modern minset of the balance between different liberal nation-states, when Europe was an Empire before, basically until (ups!) Protestantism. The nationalisms of the 20st century focused more on the identity aspect and were very closed minded so to speak, and still in that modern nation-state frame, that's why they failed despite all the "identity" thing. It was also born from communist parties. Today nationalism is used more as a synonym of defense of the country's own interests, sovereignism in contrast to globalism and tge weird powers that be. But I prefer patriotism as well. Nationalism sounds more like a thing in the map, a geographical thing, because that's how the concept was born. But also if it means sovereignism, it means it's also patriotic.
"If you're coming, bring pizza" is the best summary of what to bring when immigrating. lol I am 2nd generation in America. (they came early 1900s) They were so proud to be Americans & for ethnic cultures, there were small festivals that anyone could come to and enjoy food & folk dancing. Keep in mind, we came here for the culture, for the God given inalienable rights in the Constitution & the opportunity. There were zero handouts at that time. If you came, you had to pass an civics test and in school, you needed to speak english.
I was working in catholic schools when the uhh pandem hit and that was when I was first coming to Jesus.... The amount of so called christians who were treating eachother like complete shit and saying they didnt deserve to live because they were scared and didnt want to take experimental medicine was nuts. I had people coming to me in secret thanking me for not being scared speaking up or treating them poorly for their choice of free will. Australia fell as a nation 10 years ago. There is no coming back for this country there is only a downwards spiral. God has left our country because we kicked him out. I would be ashamed to be an aussie if it weren't for our grandfathers and mothers who died to try and make this country heaven on earth. The day America and Russia fall will be the end to all freedom around the entire world. Though I guess that won't be a bad thing since Jesus is coming very soon.
17:30 Unfortunately he is clueless when it comes to geopolitics… but it’s not his fault. For example I can’t keep my messages visible…if I say anything of value.
I’m really not sure where prayer is being banned one day at a time in Australia, - I’m actually seeing the reverse in Melbourne, however that’s just me. He IS correct about the Australian Flag though - we now are no longer allowed to celebrate Australia Day in Vic 😤
He is a Christian nationalist, unless Christianity is in power controlling and making laws, we Christians are oppressed. He is preaching his own opinion and not scripture.
@@danielcarroll1816 I’ve honestly never even heard of this guy … sorry just to confirm, when you say “unless Christianity is controlling and the law we Christians are oppressed” are you suggesting this is in fact truth and agreeing with this point of view?
@@danielcarroll1816 ah ok ok thank you I just want to ask! Christian nationalism almost seems like an oxy-moron to me. We did not see Christ try and take power, He instead offered love and forgiveness and guidance - never once a perfect or easy time and He accepted all. I think with everything going on all over the west, all these types are going to become more and more prominent. Most Aussies are kind of sleep walking or have tunnel vision and that’s what scares me, it seems like most can no longer relate to a differing opinion whether you’re Christian or not. Maybe it’s just in Melbourne and other states are better - I pray that’s the case! God bless!
worked with many people from other countries they want to be aussies yet the government dont like the aussie culture and the government and businesses reject the traditions
It’s all comes from Karl Marx, Frankfurt school in Weimar Republic. Which some famous Austrian painter actually shutdown because he didn’t like Roman’s 1 unfolding in his country. 🤔🤫
These Aussie commenting about this man negatively, because y’all say his views are too harsh. What he’s saying about lgbt crap is the truth! Here in America they’re teaching it in liberal states in public schools to young children! If it isn’t in the Australian school system yet, give it a few years and it will be!! I know in Australia, speech is super restricted so maybe y’all ain’t used to someone being blunt and saying what might hurt a person’s feelings. But sometimes that’s what people need to hear to hopefully give there life to Christ!!!
I suppose that the book Critical Dilemma's would be a better resource for finding out about Queer Theory and how to deal with it from a Christian perspective.
Our economy is extremely lazy too. We export food so we have a strong start but we export raw ore and coal instead of making stuff. We just dig it up and sell it straight because we're too lazy to do anything else. We have been blessed with so many natural resources only to sell it the moment we extract it. We need an attitude adjustment. Everyone hates the government but nobody does anything, even though voting is cumpulsory
We have the potential to become a superpower but we can't be bothered to do anything so I guess we'll just sit around on our asses and watch our infrastructure slowly crumble. But hey, at least we aren't the UK!
Webster 1913: "Na"tion*al*ist, n. One who advocates national unity and independence" Nationalist is not a bad word, whatever today's politics try to teach. Unity is important because, as Jesus said, a house divided against itself cannot stand. Independence is important because the depending on the others means that can control by removal of the thing deprived upon. Additionally, America was created for important reasons and on important principals. The nations we have become dependant upon have values that are antagonistic to the foundational American values : freedom of speech, (and assembly, and others) for example are disallowed in the countries we have become economically dependant to .
All the hate Andrew gets are from christians so soft they can’t handle anyone who has convictions. You prefer your seeker sensitive pastor who isn’t willing to pay the price for the gospel or have enough balls to give you the truth every week.. the same people who will be surprised on judgement day when they hear.. depart from me I never knew you
I think we could all use a deep re-read and deep study of the book of Jonah! I can imagine him talking about the Assyrians the way this guy is talking about Islam.

Australian Christian here! I don’t mean to be rude but this guy is flat out lying. I think this is all his opinion. We have constitutional protection for religion, and not free speech. So I have no idea what he is talking about. Definitely would have like to see a Christian leader speak on this not this guy.
@@Westy-11 bro there’s a comment under yours of an Australian saying he’s spot on, who am I supposed to believe from what I’ve seen the comments are 50/50
@steve.b8872 I'm Australian, he is full of it. Right now we have a crappy party in power, like Joe and Kamala but we have elections coming up in a few months and good old Albo is not very popular and is about to be voted out and we will be fine.
I get his point against destroying unity and cultural standards in a nation. But his position is way to simplistic. For example to suggest that the modern nation state is the only option for stable society is total nonsense. The modern nation state leans towards destroying local community and centralising power. Cuture determined at national level is authoritarianism. Christianity should be for localism, but active in national policy a politics.
man I always felt mixed as an australian seeing his sermons or clips, he speaks in alot of generalities some stuff is true some of it is hyperbole being in the most "left leaning (victoria) Sydney is deff more conservative and the Multiculturalism isn't that much of an issue necessarily but because some aussies are blaming the decline of australia on migrants I've had so many friends just constantly get berated by white aussies it makes me mad.
I am an Australian Christian Pastor. This guy is wrong. He’s misleading. Brother leave that rubbish mentality in the US, non of that in Australia 🇦🇺 please
I agree with him....Pluralism is multiculturalisn and its leading everyone here in Australia into communism/neo socialism under the guise of compassion
I will watch this with a grain of salt and critical thought. Though we can allow those with extreme views to speak, just need to be cautious of Andrew Sedra. Speaking as an Aussie who lives in Sydney and sees the public side of things on instagram from him and his crew. I will say there is a lot of passion for seeing God move and His kingdom come from him and his church which I love but the way they go about it is not cool. I may be wrong and happy to be wrong in my assumptions. And he drops some good points now and again. And I still want to go to his church and meet him and his crew, to check for myself. But man, very cautious. Otherwise I hope the full convo was good in some way for His kingdom.
Do you think he's just to harsh in the way he speaks or what is it specifically that you think isn't good? The topic of approach is one I'm thinking about, so just genuinely curious as to your thoughts.
@@kurarisusa just to make sure we are using the same terminology, what do you mean by harsh? By using Google's definition - "unpleasantly rough or jarring to the senses." I would say that sometimes (like 15-20% max of the time) harsh is what you need to be in approach but when it is in a way constant in nearly all media that is promoted e.g. their Instagram channel of Echo church. I can see the passion as I said, but I hesitate its effectiveness in the long run. But I can't deny it does win a small % in Australia so it does work for some.
@@Aelwoc As I shared, happy for people to share views even extreme ones to a degree with the right context and boundaries to navigate and allow people to have critical thinking, grace, and logic when listening. My hesitancy is more in the way. But I know from seeing through social media of the Sedras and Echo church, at times phrasing of things has come off as extreme on topics, leading to people thinking the views are always extreme. But I also don't know them personally, so I speak cautiously and just from observation.
As someone from southwest originally(campbelltown/camden) we arent persecuted here yet. Not really. Bullied sure. Made fun of? Sure. But not persecuted. Will it happen here? Yes. The bible says so. But we arent yet. Theres subtle changes sure, and the bible predicts in the end days all the things we are slowly seeing but we arent there yet(sure it could happen at any time but we arent as bad as the UK yet). Interesting that he hasnt changed in all the years ive known of him(he was a friend of my brothers.) But if he wants to be biblical and have correct theology then his wife shouldnt be preaching from the pulpit the way she does. Theres a reason God made us different. Equal in value, different in what our roles are especially in a church and family. Its something ive learnt and had to wrap my head around in my bible studies. Ruslan dont take him too seriously, its not as bad as he says over here. At least not yet.
The thing is it starts as bullying, then leads to worse. There’s a mosque in Sydney where the teacher was saying that this nation is crying out for Jihad. There’s books in Lakemba that teach you how to behead non Muslims. Bishop Mar Mari got attacked by an extremist and people are too scared to say it was a religious attacks. We are under persecution but don’t realise it.
@@daff1086 I'm not saying it won't, and I have nothing against him, he is still a child of God, but I just disagree with some of the things he says, and sometimes the way their church operates(and to be fair its all second hand info from my brother). I live rural and youtube is the most I see of socials so I dont catch the other stuff much.
And i guess Look at how people are reacting to the synagogue in Melbourne being firebombed. Im just not sure what our calling is against such things except to profess our Lord and hope we get to go home to Him soon.
This pastor lies alot from his own pulpit. Behind closed doors and to his circle of close friends he is the biggest gay with all due respect to gays as human beings while disagreeing with their way of life from a Christian point of view
Not capitalist, but corporatist. Basically pure fascism, i.e. no jackboots but you WILL do what they say otherwise they will crush you through the legal system.
I’ve been following this guy and his church for awhile. Horrible church would never go, bad teaching, unfruitful pastor. Sad to see him on this channel.
Oh man.. this guy is not a great person to platform at all. Says a bunch of outlandish and untrue stuff (conspiracy theories etc.) in his church all the time. He's also very thoughtless with his words and the way he talks about other people. I'm commenting before I'm watching here, but having seen his vitriolic takes (wouldn't call it preaching) on Instagram before he's definitely off to the EXTREME right of things so wouldn't be giving him air time. He's also not in any position to be talking about the state of things in Australia and there are 100s of other great pastors and Christian thinkers doing good work in this country who are worth giving air time to before going anywhere near this guy. In my opinion most of the stuff he says goes for shock value simply to get interviews with people like yourself and increase his reach, which is exactly what will happen here. Love your content and channels Ruslan. I'll watch but I don't want to.. check back in 20 mins..
Watched.. 1. No one is trying to introduce communism in Australia (weather overtly of subtly), he offers ZERO evidence for this. 2. Bringing up the 'nasty history' of nations was good Ruslan. We have a nasty history here too and people, both secular and Christians, are trying to address this. 3. My earlier comment may have been preemptive, but his still 4. NO ONE IS PUTTING PASTORS IN JAIL IN AUSTRALIA. 🤦🏻♂ Again he offers no evidence to back this up. The law is prohibitive, and I would say most of the Australian church is opposed to that law (rightly so), but no one is jailing pastors. 5. The overuse of the 'Christians are being persecuted' narrative is wild. No we aren't. The early church was persecuted. Christians in Iran are persecuted, we're mildly inconvenienced and maybe slightly frowned upon by certain groups. 6. His claim that 'the only thing I'm allowed to do is talk from the platform.. won't be there for too long'. Again, does he have any evidence, or is he going to keep making wild claims without backing them up or even giving Ruslan a chance to ask? Also, does he honestly think the only function of the Church in society is prayer and preaching? Probably not, but that won’t suit his narrative. 7. No one is forcing Christian schools to teach LGBTQ views. Christian schooling won't be illegal anytime soon. 'They're gonna make homeschooling illegal', again ZERO evidence for this. 8. 'It's okay, not everyone will like me..' - He loves saying things like this and uses it to dismiss anyone who challenges his narrative and position himself as a faith warrior to build his platform. Overall Andrew's MO is talking A LOT and talking over the top of people without qualifying anything he says. Can't stand that. He barely let Ruslan respond to anything he said at all.. Also, he generally responds to criticism with 'oh well, not everyone likes me because I speak the truth.' No dude, people are trying to debate and challenge you, that's how conversations work. Yes the 'overall' political climate here is LGBTQ affirming, but he catastrophizes almost everything to suit his arguments and position himself as some sort of faith warrior. I can assure you there are many great people of faith doing great work to further the gospel here in Aus without using the same vitriolic discourse that Andrew does. I’m saddened that people are propping Andrew up. I wouldn’t trust him with a pulpit and flock, but sadly many do.
I couldn’t agree more. He doesn’t represent the situation in Australia IMO. I’ve been serving in ministry in Oz for almost 20 years, & I don’t see what he’s seeing.
Grandma keeps saying that the Egyptian queen Cleopatra is black. Hence the constant silly rhetoric that Egyptians are actually black simply because they’re living in ‘the deep dark’ continent of Africa.
Of course he’s saved. Christian’s are the funniest people. It’s unless he believes like me, he’s not saved. He’s a Christian. However aussies don’t understand him having not lived his experience in Egypt. He knows what he’s taking about. I was born in Australia and this is not the same country I grew up in. It’s a slow burn but communism is here. Covid is an example of this but the compliant ones would have found this normal, even cheered on the government crackdown/tyranny.

He is talking about Victoria (Aussie state)
Could you point me to some Biblical, Australian pastors? What do you think of Guy Mason?
''Conversion therapy'' laws here in Victoria. Illegal to pray for someone same sex attracted even if they ask you to

Australia used to be a majority Christian country, until PC took over.
Time to visit Australia Ruslan! 🇦🇺
What’s the difference between patriotism and nationalism
TLDR;
Patriotism = Love your country; there's no 'one, "perfect" way' to do it
Nationalism = There is only ONE "True/Perfect" way to be an ACTUAL citizen of *insert nation here* (usually meaning you have to be a certain ethnicity and practice certain cultural norms--not talking about minor levels of assimilation)
I hope this clarifies things!
that sounds a lot like an American patriotism, because it has in itself the idea of liberty and individualism ("pursuit of own happiness").
Sedra is 100% right about australia
All the Australians offended here in the comments just proves his point on how left wing Australia is even in the church.

@@Jacqueline_S ne I am not agreeing with him, just stating what a christian nationalist is.

It’s written in our laws mate. Conversion therapy is illegal in Victoria and results in jail time.
Would Australia go down, be it ever so slowly, towards the state that Lebanon is for sometime now?
Do not mark the census as no religion. Whether you have faith or not, Australia needs to remain a predominantly Christian country.

I know in Australia, speech is super restricted so maybe y’all ain’t used to someone being blunt and saying what might hurt a person’s feelings. But sometimes that’s what people need to hear to hopefully give there life to Christ!!!
It would be great if Ruslam let his guests actually speak.

Patriotic, not nationalistic
Webster 1913:
"Na"tion*al*ist, n. One who advocates national unity and independence"
Nationalist is not a bad word, whatever today's politics try to teach.

Pastor Sedra is very problematic I seen some his outlandish takes online
I am an Australian Christian Pastor. This guy is wrong. He’s misleading.
Brother leave that rubbish mentality in the US, non of that in Australia 🇦🇺 please
Basically the only thing you said is that he is wrong and you are a pastor. Any actual comment?
We must talk about it now to prevent it happening here. For once Australia lagging behind is to our benefit.
Aussies in the comments, who are some Biblical, Australian pastors to follow?
He seems like a normal Christian voicing his opinion to me, what makes him so extreme?

Sad to see him on this channel.
Ruslan take most of what he says with a grain of salt 😭 (I’m an Australian)
Oh man.. this guy is not a great person to platform at all.
3. My earlier comment may have been preemptive, but his still
Thank You! Was terrified to see him on the thumbnail lol. Glad ruslan was kind of pushing back
I couldn’t agree more. He doesn’t represent the situation in Australia IMO. I’ve been serving in ministry in Oz for almost 20 years, & I don’t see what he’s seeing.
