Thank you guys for embracing in the cringe of my 2000s TV debut 😂 hope you enjoy all the rare footage of that lost first season; hope it doesn’t get taken down !
this episode really helps the younger gen understand how big ryan was at that time bc hearing jk only talk about it isnt the same as seeing actual footage of what he achieved. ngl ryan is kinda humble tho bc he always talked himself down when he first joined this channel abt 2 yrs ago, watching this made me think damn i didn't know ryan was cool like that? so much cooler than anthony anyway
I love how Ryan keeps trying to under sell his achievements making it seem so unimpressive and regular very every day , when in actuality he's very talented and lucky 😄
Yeah you can tell that’s his self esteem stuff he previously talk about still kind of affecting him in a way. Where it’s kind of anything he does hasn’t hit him or won’t make it that big of a deal but to others like us it’s amazing.
Learning Ryan's thought process during the first season of SYTYCD has made me look at my childhood differently 😂😂😂. I grew up watching Ryan, Hok and D-Trix's journey and Quest Crew's ABDC career.
TY Ryan and JK for this great episode. Nice to know the BTS from what we watched all those years ago. The documentary style complete with past clips was 👍🏻. So much talent- and such a great guy. So deserving of recognition and success.
That solo to "Poison" still lives rent-free in my mind. I remember watching it and being blown away because I'd gotten into breakin at the time. What Anthony said was true. Ryan definitely helped pave the way.
Listening to Ryan talk about his beginning got me all teary eyes. And I got goosebumps too!! I remember all of the shows and how I felt at the time. It was such a proud moment for Asians. I was like “WOW! There’s so many Asian dancers! I told y’all we can dance MF’ker!!”
haha yeah ! my season had 3 Filipinos in the top 16 which was unheard of at the time for most tv shows.. even more were in our top 50 ! and every season to follow always featured more and more talented Asians; and champions like Lex Ishimoto (s14) who was actually in Quest studio’s junior team as a kid 😂
It's so interesting to hear Ryan talk about the birth of all this. I think not only is this interesting from Ryan's perspective, but it touches upon an aspect of early reality-show TV, where social media didn't exist in the way it does today. This kind of 'spontaneous' discovery wouldn't exist nowadays: kids are so switched-into the media. This was 2005, right? So the story not only touches upon dancing and Ryan, but it touches upon 'early' internet culture and TV culture. Well done to the editors as well. Amazing editing work. This is equivalent to any excellent documentary. Like a lot of people, I'm in my late 30s and watching this series with such interest.
SYTYCD was such a staple tv show of my childhood and teenage years. Never missed an episode those first 5-6 seasons. It would be so wild for JK to get Mary Murphy on or something!
Talk about a rollercoaster of events😵💫🤯 . Especially hearing how Ryan accidently auditioned for what would become SYTYCD 🤣. It's crazy cool the things Ryan's accomplished, I'm so happy for him 🤗 🙌!! Also, Steve dumping trash on himself,😂🤣😘🤌Hilarious.
honestly I need to know what Ryan’s hair routine was like because let me tell you a LOT of bboys in my highschool had Ryan’s hair and I’m pretty sure it was because of him.
Its crazy growing up watching SYTYCD with my mom and i specifically remember Dtrix, Ryan and Hok being my favorites. And i didnt even know they were tight for so long until my high school years!!
Man I knew Ryan did all this stuff but seeing the footage and Ryan talking about his experience was so cool! Ryan ong had the most Aura in the whole show!
I never put 2 and 2 together but I watched so you think you can dance as a kid with my parents I wanted Ryan to win cause he had Saiyan hair I'm 27 now 😂😂
Thank you guys for embracing in the cringe of my 2000s TV debut 😂 hope you enjoy all the rare footage of that lost first season; hope it doesn’t get taken down !
Hey Ryan. How's your back/neck/etc? The move where you dropped on your back always made me go "ahhhhhhh". Hope you're in good health!
We love it! It adds extra effect to the storyline
The extra footage elevated these videos so much, theyre perfect
You are amazing, Ryan! Thank you for sharing. You are an inspiration! ✨️🎉
Bro, this is straight up a documentary. Thanks for sharing.
Ryan is the man!!!!! Please use this to get some WD40 for those chairs 🤣🤣🤣
lol Thank you for your donation to the channel. It is appreciated.
Damn bro hahaha we actually will do that 😂
i think something else should be said for 5 dollars. Steve Green in the male representation of his grandma.
@@y9o-Max lol if that's the case then where is your $5. donation to the channel?

Haha yea definitely nowhere as confident as I might have led on 😂
I knew Ryan was a legend but he’s more of one than I realized!🙌🏾🙌🏾
Steve dumping the trash on him self is the best thing ever his love for trash tv is amazing
He’s so committed to the bit!

The first Ryan episode was epic. I’m going to enjoy the next 28 mins
Oh yeah
Ryan was fr ahead of his time.
Been following Ryan since he was on sytycd s1, and its so good to see him still active on youtube
This is sooo crazy! After hearing the back story, seeing Ryan doing the mamba routine... you were so good!
Young Ryan is so adorable.
Highly enjoyed this episode. Ryan's moves were so iconic and in Lmfao and ABDC. This story on SYTYCD just made me like him more. Fken incredible
It's so cool yall came up with this idea! Lovin these videos!
This might be the best episode of jk I’ve ever watched
Ryan's wild...
As a new-to-JK millennial, this is an absolute trip! Ryan is the king of humility
Ryan! So proud of what you've accomplished!! You are still killing anything you set your mind to!!! Steve with the question 😂😂. Loved all the video!
This is why Ryan is my absolute fave!!! ✨✨
TY Ryan and JK for this great episode. Nice to know the BTS from what we watched all those years ago. The documentary style complete with past clips was 👍🏻. So much talent- and such a great guy. So deserving of recognition and success.
Thanks for the no interruption commercial. Hearin ryan serenade my ears is a blessing😂
That solo to "Poison" still lives rent-free in my mind. I remember watching it and being blown away because I'd gotten into breakin at the time. What Anthony said was true. Ryan definitely helped pave the way.
I will always remember Ryan for this.
man it's so cool that Ryan just felt like documenting shit back then
Ryan IS the people's champ.

@@ryanimayHok too. Spin on that floor !!
Ryan’s so damn cool lowkey forget how legendary everyone in the panel is even with the young legend nick
YES I've been waiting for this!

Guys.... Ryan is *wild*
And the Hills is peak cinema ... FEEL THE RAIN ON YOUR SKIN
crazy how gifted ryan is musically
ABDC is how I discovered Ryan and Quest. NEXT EPISODE LFG
I like how the entertainment industry opened up the market to the dance community and found a treasure trove of talent/hard work.
Ryans hair looked like the guy's hair from Romeo and Juliet. The one with Leonardo DiCaprio. I forgot his name
I already knew Ryan was cool but wow he is blowing this out the water. He was on a early 2000s reality dance show 😳🔥
I remember watching Ryan on that show😂 time flies
I only ever watched the 1st season, and I have to admit I can see where the Saddle Ranch guys is coming from... at the time
@@HasanPikerIsADouche I've only watched the first season myself. I don't know who the Saddle Ranch guys are but I know Raygun from the Olympics.
The trash!? 🤣🤣🤣
lmao omg I just got to that part. 🤣🤣
SYTYCD was such a staple tv show of my childhood and teenage years. Never missed an episode those first 5-6 seasons. It would be so wild for JK to get Mary Murphy on or something!
Ryan is the best
Really loving these episodes !!
Impressive Ryan and the other cast members protesting for salary
Ryan's cool ppl
Ryan's journeyman dance with choreo was in So You Think You Can Dance??? WHAT
14:07 I remember seeing Ryan and so excited that he was Filipino on a huge show. I totally supported and voted!
this is so good its like a documentary
This comment is for Steve's commitment to his bit 😂
Ryan is a true pioneer as Anthony mentioned. If you were around then you remember how it made us Asian Americans feel!
Sickest arc story ever
Talk about a rollercoaster of events😵💫🤯 . Especially hearing how Ryan accidently auditioned for what would become SYTYCD 🤣. It's crazy cool the things Ryan's accomplished, I'm so happy for him 🤗 🙌!! Also, Steve dumping trash on himself,😂🤣😘🤌Hilarious.
Dang I didn't know Ryan was famous like that.
honestly I need to know what Ryan’s hair routine was like because let me tell you a LOT of bboys in my highschool had Ryan’s hair and I’m pretty sure it was because of him.
Ryan looks so cool! His hair looks like yogiyo!
23:34 - "ya know" XD
Damn ngl Ryan is cool and humble as fuck
Hopefully the next one is about how he saved the community center in the inner city.
Ryan’s story is wild! I loved the throwback clips. ❤
Respect to Ryan
Lovin this series!
😮 wow didn’t know Ryan was on that show
Its crazy growing up watching SYTYCD with my mom and i specifically remember Dtrix, Ryan and Hok being my favorites. And i didnt even know they were tight for so long until my high school years!!
For some reason I had the image that Ryan (and most dancers) were practically born talented in dancing lol
This makes me laugh because no ever let Anthonee cook he’s always getting interrupted
Swear to god Steve makes these episodes better
15:34 we're not just gonna speed past that like you didn't just say what you just said 🤣
23:26 because of that thought I never tried anything to be on tv or tell the truth and avoid telling the truth.
Great video!
Hell yeah! Ryan was huge for Asians back then. 💪🤙
Man I knew Ryan did all this stuff but seeing the footage and Ryan talking about his experience was so cool! Ryan ong had the most Aura in the whole show!
I was right. This week is definitely going to be peak.
This is how I was first introduced to Ryan and I'm a 7th day Adventist too
Amazing
Anthony got his back so much more than 1000%
Its crazy thinking 05 is 20 years ago cuz i remember being in high school n thinking how ancient 20 years ago felt to me.
I love SYTYCD & remember Ryan from way back then. I watched him on SYTYCD more than ABDC.
19:03 Love this part lol
Ryan 😍😍🙈
FINALLY!
Anyone got the link for the dance class usher vid? haha 😂
12:34 he realllyy does look like he doesnt know wtf is going on lmfao
I'm gonna be sad asf when these "out of the closet" episodes are done.
Dude dancers have such cool backstories
14:11 “they think it’s pretty cool 😀🥲”
dang, didn't know ryan is seventh-day adventist? wow they're a bit strict!
damn you a legend Ryan! kudos to you
Part 2 ooh ha ha
Good story
Ryan looks so different.
💪💪💪👏👏👏
Whoa whoa what's with the cut jump at 16:21?
Stg his hair also prob made him marketable for tv. Cuz he looks like a somebody but he was literally just a reg dude
Steve better come back to part 3 with spiked hair...
From the stories and snippets of clips about this that Ryan has shown in previous JKN episodes I am looking forward to the backstory and visuals.
So did ryan get shorter over the years? he looks super tall in sytycd
I never put 2 and 2 together but I watched so you think you can dance as a kid with my parents I wanted Ryan to win cause he had Saiyan hair I'm 27 now 😂😂
Is that the Nikki Bella husband in one of those videos
Yeah, my dude ARTEM !
Ryan is my favorite, loved the video. Tired of looking at Steve just sitting there, giving his looks. He doesn't do much does he???
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
He doesnt me tion what happened to hok at this audition tho
I know he goes on later but thats also a story
first!!
