I didn't get a chance to share this in the video, so I thought I'd share the story here. When we were walking around the market and shooting those scenes, I remember a delivery guy walk up to us and stop Amano-san and say, hey, we're still on for drumming this weekend? I think it was drumming at least (my Japanese isn't greaT). And Amano-san responded with an "of course! I'll see you there!" and it was really touching. I mean, he's one of the most respected chefs in the world. He's such a huge part of Kokura, and brings so many people there, and inspires so many people, and he has no attitude about it. He's so humble, down to earth, and connected with his community.
wtf Tenzushi? you guys managed to film Saito and now Amano? He's easily the most famous sushi chef in Kyushu, so props to you guys for being able to document this extraordinary sushi institution!
Honestly, I think there is no food channel as technically skilled, creatively experienced, sure in style and editing, entertaining or esthetically satisfying as Simon and Martina's. You blow my mind with every video, your skill is unbelievable. Thank you for creating.
Dang it want sushi so bad right now, might just be editing but looks like Martina bout to bite her digits off just to keep from missing a single taste inducing morsel on those first 3 bites. I'm probably just noticing in this video cause I'm starving and I'd give an organ for sushi from Isao Amano.
Yummy! Thanks for introducing us to Isao Amano-san today! It looked like a whole new adventure in a sushi bar. Btw, I think some audio is gone in the mid of video, when Chef Isao is walking around the fish market. Or is it intentional? And I use my earphones to listen to the video but I think your voices are somewhat muffled in some parts, but clear in some parts.
Simon and Martina If you are not comfortable with fugu (especially the milt xD) can you say no thank you? Is that considered rude...? I know he is a renowned chef and whatnot but I would not be comfortable with eating anything fugu-wise. And what if there are allergies?
I love how passionate yet unpretentious the chef seems to be. And I love the fact that he just wants to make delicious sushi that brings joy to others, rather than just the best sushi ever etc etc
I dont know how you guys do it but you guys make these videos so well that its almost like u are there. You are so talented how you put the videos together and really let the viewers experience the place as well. You guys are really making traveling to japan bump up on my to do list!!!! Love you guys and keep doing what you do. There is very few people in the youtube world that do what you do so well!
The intro is EVERYTHING. But the experience, your shots and the presentation of the video is also everything. This video is the best that you have made, in my opinion. I have no expectations anymore, you guys keep going above and beyond with each video you make and I deeply appreciate that you take us along for the ride.
I am such a dork lol I saw that u put a emoji on my comment and I was like a 15 year old girl "think of Simons OMGAWD voice" ..........omg they read my comment!!!
Simon and Martina I have so much to thank u for....there are no words! All I can say is u both give me strength to build a ladder everyday! Love u both.
I don't know how many people mention this, but you two should have way more subs based on the production value of your videos alone. The fade in and out of the burn-in film effect, then the fade in of text for the images of sushi, and the music, excellent. Already loving this video and just under 30 seconds in.
Justin Diaz thank you! If you see our older videos the production wasn’t as good since we were learning, but we’ve worked hard to improve our more serious videos with higher quality music/editing while still having fun with lighter videos too!
As I do paper work at work i listen to RUclips videos as background to help me concentrate, but i can never do that with the videos you guys put out. I always wait until my lunch break, or when I get home so i can watch on the TV, because the amount of effort you guys put into each video is phenomenal. I have to give each video my full undivided attention, just because every video is a feast for the eyes! The editing, the way you shoot the different camera angles, and the commentary is always a pleasure to watch!! I love you guys, and I love what you do for the RUclips community. Please keep up the fantastic work ❤️❤️❤️❤️
okay guys, you made me want to book a flight straight away to japan with that "best sushi in japan" video a couple of years ago, but now, with the LOVELY(like omg i wanna paint them!!)closeups, the documentary vibe, the lovely fun and beautiful reactions from the two of you, like damn, i'm a crying mess at the moment, please someone, send me to japan, i want to eat and live and feel, like holy smokes i am literally crying and mad because i want this exact sushi right now mmmhmhm
I am absolutely in love with all of these episodes! I love seeing the passion, and the behind the scenes. The editing is beautiful, the cinematography is amazing. You guys are wonderful!
Thank you for exploring places even people who lived in Japan for most of their lifetime (me lol) don't know about! Not only is it helpful, it inspires me to be active!
You can sense the passion from both parties- the chef and his customers! Thank you guys for putting this out despite all the time it took (I have a hunch this took an even longer time because it has Simon's old hairstyle lol). Keep doing what makes you happy, because it makes us appreciate it even more!!
Found you guys a few weeks ago and now i watched all your videos.. at first i just wanted to see Videos about Japan but i stayed because of ur warmhearted personalities. You really have the talent to make me smile :) Hope you will read it, your videos mean a lot to me and i just wanted you to know! Cant wait for the next ones! :)
Maynzi we nasties welcome you! Simon and Martina are great, they put a LOT of effort into making good content. One of the few channels I subscribe to out of just a general connection to their personalities! I feel like if I ever met them in person, it wouldn't feel like an introduction, but a continued conversation 😂
Thank you forgiving us such a beautiful video, it honestly felt like I was sharing the experience with you both. I particularly loved the behind the scenes glimpses and the chef perspective clips. You guys keep evolving and changing it up for us and it is a massive pleasure to be on the ride with you. Also, excellent use of 'wanky' I'm still lmao at that. Xx
I haven't watched the both of you in a while. I'm always busy now, I work, I go to school, and I am the supporter in my family. Sometimes my depression and PTSD takes over and I have long periods of hopelessness. But when I watch your videos, I remember why I get up everyday and work so hard. One day I'd like to experience these joys with my husband and daughter.
Such a beautiful style of video, and I really loved all the illustrations and the editing was just seamless and the transitions were just gorgeous. Great work guys, it's just so much fun to watch how versatile you can be in you videos and editing. Can't wait for more great content xxx 😘💛
Thank you for taking the time and effort to create such an amazing video. The intro is so fun and I paused to read all the ingredients you put. I'd love to see this style more often, but I cannot even imagine how long it took to edit. I've been feeling a little sick with an annoying cold and this video genuinely made me smile. I wish you both an amazing day :P
Your videos have reached an even higher level of communicative passion and sophistication. Artistic, even poetic, yet firmly rooted in reality, your videos are an inspiration and a modern hymn to joy. Thank you for sharing them. Japan is great, and my wife and I enjoy it every time we fly there. But your passion takes experiencing Japan to a new height. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This is why you guys are EASILY my most favourite youtubers. The dedication and the level of quality you put in to these videos is incredible and all the while you still manage to put out content that is super fun and lighthearted. You are incredibly versatile with your subject matter. As i've said, some videos are fun and cheerful while others are very thought provoking. I've been subscribed for a long time and i've loved every second of it. You guys keep on being amazing because every video brightens my day that much more!
Love how the vibe/atmosphere really comes across in this video!! You guys just keep getting better and better! Have to rewatch again on a bigger screen when I get home from work :)
That Chef is so sweet! He's so open and humble about his food and it makes me so happy. His attitude is something to look up to in any craft, not just cooking.
i love that you guys dont just show us food, food and more food, but show us the soul, passion, culture and very essence of each dish! another brilliant video you guys are amazing
This makes me so happy that the community all simultaneously agree that Simon and Martina's videos are superb and only getting better with time. The care you guys put into the videos and the story's you tell are amazing and I'm so glad you guys choose to share these with us.
Where do I even begin? Geez la wheeze what a good video. I was moved to tears several times by the video. The genuine warmth and kindness radiating from Isao Amano was so touching. Your video clearly conveyed how much he really loves his craft, and I found it particularly touching that he wants to brighten a dark day for people. After reading through the comments, I see this was filmed a year ago, and the editing process has been long. It has clearly paid off, this was a crisp, well put together video. Its amazing to see how much you have grown in film making over the years. Also, the sound was so crisp and tingly in my ears, it felt immersive. Much love and respect
It's like watching an artist sculpting or painting a canvas, there's so much grace and care in his movements, and everything is so deliberately done, there's nothing 'thrown together' about it. It's so gorgeous, a feast for the eyes as well as the palette.
The production quality of this videos is so incredible! I had the revelation the other day that I have been watching you guys for 7 years now! No one keeps me coming back like you guys! I love you so much eeeeeeee!
So nice I watched it twice. After breakfast, it'll be thrice. Also I'm going to share this video/channel with a streamers discord channel who is in love with Everything Japanese!
Your joy over every bite of food and enthusiasm for the chefs and even just the information they give you about their food shows in your videos and you should be very proud.
My favourite thing about the video is how you're able to balance the cinematography with the story telling. The samurai champlooesque music matches the vibe of the video beautifully. Thanks for all your hard work!!!
I knew this was coming, so I made sure to stuff myself in preparation. Even so, my mouth is watering~~ I don't even care that it's before noon EST, I could go for this. Watching this man speak about his sushi with such pride as well as happiness - and the wish for happiness on others- AHHH! I love love it! This entire video, I'm sitting at the cafe thinking STOP STOP DON'T STOP DON'T STOP. These all look amazing! The mixture of flavors and textures, mmmm, thinking of it gives me fuzzy feelings. By the way, the editing on this video - A++ guys! Really loved the way you filmed everything.
The greatness of this video starts at 0:00. There are two wonderful things about this video: 1. The Chef's skill, creativity and passion is astounding. 2. The production value of these videos from Simon, Martina, Dan etc. are on the same level. The quality of your content continues to improve and evolve. As enjoyable and entertaining that your videos in Korea were (make no mistake that they were also quite good), your transition to Japan and the process to take your story telling to the next level is why we love your channel so much. Wonderful personalities making wonderful context for the world to enjoy. Thank you so much for putting yourselves out there even when there are days that are quite physically, mentally and emotionally challenging. Greetings and best wishes from San Francisco.
I love this type of content you guys make, you can see the dedication you put into it. And what a nice man! You can feel his passion about food. I would love to eat his food!
I've never been one to really eat sushi, the idea of raw fish never really sat right with me. But watching these videos really inspires me to want to give it another try, and really think about all the effort that goes into preparing and making it. Instead of thinking about the fact that it's raw. I love these videos that you guys do it really gives me a new appreciation of sushi, keep up the good work!
I don’t know how but your videos get better every time! I would rather watch your videos than a food channel anything, the way you edit makes things so cohesive and so beautiful to watch. Thank you for the amazing videos!
Watching this makes me think of the first sushi eating video you both did. The difference in quality is insane! You can really tell how much happier you both are making videos without the toxicity.
Ugh, this looks so delicious. The combinations the chef uses to make sushi is very interesting, I can only imagine how well it must taste! Thank you for the excellent video :)
The inspiration that he puts in the sushi he makes really says a lot of what environment he has in his restaurant. I will definitely add this to my “Must Go” list for when I visit Japan next year! Love your videos so much, they given me a bit of insight of what japan has to offer. Keep doing what you do, sending love from Chicago
The philosophy of this amazing chef (and others you have shown before) is beyond perfect. That's pure happiness, having a job which its purpose it's to make other people happy...I hope one day I can have even a 10% of that in my life. And sushi, that delicious sushi!! :3
Honestly, it is only fitting that a chef so unique is expressed in a video just as unique. This is probably my favorite editing you guys have ever done, the hip hop type of music with stylized graphics and edits really gave me a different feel that reminded me of the anime opening of Samurai Champloo, which was awesome, so kudos to you guys, and can't wait to see more from y'all!
Ragnarok043 was looking for someone to talk about Dan in the background. Also noticed how he ate the sushi with chopsticks and being so proper when eating it too. Lol
Simon and Martina, you guys are very talented and create such interesting content. Been watching you guys for years, and I want to thank you for all the joy and happiness you have brought me. You have helped get me through some of the hardest times of my life by giving me pure bliss through your videos. You guys are wonderful. Please don’t ever stop. Truly, you are the most caring and fan friendly creators out there. Love you guys.
Long time lurker, first time poster - I've been watching you guys for almost a decade and I. CANNOT. BELIEVE how much you've grown. This is some jaw-droppingly fantastic production! I'm constantly in awe of how entertaining, warm, and hilarious your videos are. Thank you both a million times for everything you do. Much ❤️ from Toronto!
I can really see the extra work and effort that went into the editing, production value and appreciate the extra professional touch (while still keeping your great humour) that pays respect to this brilliant chef. Thank you for this magnificent piece, it's inspiring!
wASSSUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I KEEP GETTING the "How to use a raw egg to determine if your mattress is awful - PURPLE' Commercial 😭 it's 4 MINUTES LONG and I don't skip to support
I love this new style of video you guys have been doing lately where just simply trying sushi takes you deeper into who these chefs are, what the location is about, a peek into how the industry functions, I love this. It must take a long time, but the effort you put into this pays off.
The editing in this is GORGEOUS! The sushi looks great too, you can tell just by how the chef talks that he really cares for his craft. Thank you for sharing this with us. ♥
I am consistently surprised with how amazing your videography and editing is in your videos. Simon and Martina, your channel really stands out with good quality videos from two people with a good heart that are clearly very passionate about what they´re doing. Thank you so much for everything you do
i love your editing style and how you showcase the chef who makes these wonderful creations and let them tell their story it's just so beautiful and inspiring. 10/10 love it.
Simon and Martina - Just WOW! Every aspect of this video is amazing - your deep respect and appreciation of the entire experience of having sushi at Tenzushi is so clearly communicated by not only your touching words but with the care in which you have produced this video. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your experiences and adventures. I am just one of the many people you inspire. I have this profound thought that someday I would hope to create something worthy of being the subject of one of your videos. (A girl can dream :)
Seriously though, you should have made the playlist "Eat your sushi, NO REALLY EAT YOUR SUSHI!" by this time 😂. By the way, stellar as always, also loving the sushi placecard 🍣 (so stylish!). Now that we know the sushi god of the south, who is the sushi god of the north? 😏 (Also loving Simon's analogy of Tenzushi to James Joyce 😸😸)
I love the little modern, funky opening with the editing that reflects his sort of funky, fresh take on sushi. I feel that your documentary skills have improved so greatly. So proud of you guys! ^^
He's so humble, down to earth, and connected with his community.
Simon and Martina That's incredible! When a great man is humble, it just makes him so much greater. Thanks for sharing!
People who are humble impress me the most. Down to Earth and loving spirit like you two!
humble, down to earth...I think abt someone yuzuru hanyu
I’ve seen this chef in a manga I read a while ago and wow, you guys made a great video about him! He’s so cool! :) -Jun
JunsKitchen if it's a manga about food/cooking I MUST read it. What's the title?
Was it Oishinbo?
JunsKitchen whoa a whole manga, what was it called I wanna check it out
Cool collaboration; Simon and Martina try a home cooked meal made by Jun.
Jul X
That would be a dream collaboration!!!
wtf Tenzushi? you guys managed to film Saito and now Amano? He's easily the most famous sushi chef in Kyushu, so props to you guys for being able to document this extraordinary sushi institution!
We feel super lucky to be able to work with both :)
Simon and Martina 、
Honestly, I think there is no food channel as technically skilled, creatively experienced, sure in style and editing, entertaining or esthetically satisfying as Simon and Martina's. You blow my mind with every video, your skill is unbelievable. Thank you for creating.
Thank you for watching!
I couldn't agree more!! The intro to this video is epic! The whole video is amazing - I want to fly to Japan right now for dinner!!
Allow us to introduce you to Isao Amano, head chef of Tenzushi, who makes some of the best sushi in Japan.
Simon and Martina is that Dan in the background? Cause if not he has a clone

Jackie Sullivan totally agree
The ambient recording is amazing.
The intro is EVERYTHING. But the experience, your shots and the presentation of the video is also everything. This video is the best that you have made, in my opinion. I have no expectations anymore, you guys keep going above and beyond with each video you make and I deeply appreciate that you take us along for the ride.
Thank you!
Cassy お
I love your videos.....I am like a kid on Christmas..all excited and can't wait to see what you guys put up.
I am such a dork lol I saw that u put a emoji on my comment and I was like a 15 year old girl "think of Simons OMGAWD voice" ..........omg they read my comment!!!
Of course we read your comment! We read them all. We can't act on all of them, but we do our best so that no voice goes unheard :D
Simon and Martina I have so much to thank u for....there are no words! All I can say is u both give me strength to build a ladder everyday! Love u both.

That's really touching to hear. Thank you. We do try to explore and try many new places, and then to share those experiences with others :D
Simon and Martina I’m sure I’m not the only who’s inspired by you guys! You guys are amazing ❤️
Omg the editing! Loving the production value.
So much to see! Between sushis, warm words, distracting cherries and of course your lovely couple!
those cherries! @.@
You can sense the passion from both parties- the chef and his customers! Thank you guys for putting this out despite all the time it took (I have a hunch this took an even longer time because it has Simon's old hairstyle lol). Keep doing what makes you happy, because it makes us appreciate it even more!!
This edit is GORGEOUS. Your storytelling is compelling and beautiful, I now want all the sushi. NYAAAAAAAAA.
I know ... why did I watch this (twice) before lunch!
Favorite channel, hands down.

Me, furiously liking every ad that comes up on Simon and Martina videos because I don't know how money or algorithms on RUclips works but I Support
your guy's style of video is evolving into a beautiful artform. This was a great way to start my day
That Tarantino vibe intro with the sushi pieces and the letters is just fantastic. You got me subbed after 30 seconds. Simply amazing guys!!
Wow thanks for the amazing comment :) this took a long time to film and edit so I’m super happy you enjoyed it
Thank you forgiving us such a beautiful video, it honestly felt like I was sharing the experience with you both. I particularly loved the behind the scenes glimpses and the chef perspective clips. He's a great man. Really inspiring.
The production quality of this videos is so incredible! I had the revelation the other day that I have been watching you guys for 7 years now! No one keeps me coming back like you guys! I love you so much eeeeeeee!
Everytime you guys start describing the food/flavors my mouth starts watering! Really nice video!
Seriously, the production quality, the commentary, the lofi-fi hip hop, the shots, the background, everything is top notch !! Good stuff.
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! What are you listening to lately? We've really been in a Samurai Champloo kinda vibe for the past couple of months :D
Simon and Martina Soca- Hello from Kes is really good. Hello from Barbados.
Radical Face and Sea Wolf have been the musical selections that seem to speak to me lately.
In our home it’s David Bowie. My son is hooked line and sinker over him. For me... it’s been modern music set to 30’s, and 40’s jazz. Oh yeah!
I've been super into Pink's newest album Beautiful Trauma.
Also April Smith and the Great Picture Show. She has a great rockabilly vibe that I love!
I've been really enjoying Passenger lately. Yes, I know I'm basic. I just like what I like, okay? 😛
So nice I watched it twice. After breakfast, it'll be thrice. Also I'm going to share this video/channel with a streamers discord channel who is in love with Everything Japanese!

Wonderful personalities making wonderful context for the world to enjoy. Thank you so much for putting yourselves out there even when there are days that are quite physically, mentally and emotionally challenging. Greetings and best wishes from San Francisco.
the editing on this...... amazing.
I love this type of content you guys make, you can see the dedication you put into it. And what a nice man! You can feel his passion about food. I would love to eat his food!
This video is just beautiful ❤️ You guys and the amazing food masters you showcase inspire me so much. Thank you!!
I haven't watched your videos in a month and whole catching up i saved this one for last and it was totally worth it. Great video.
I can't wait to visit Japan! You guys make the best videos.
I hope you have a great time here!
This is also my dream, going to Japan and have this amazing meal T_____T
Watching this makes me think of the first sushi eating video you both did. The difference in quality is insane! You can really tell how much happier you both are making videos without the toxicity.
Simon: ..."I just LOVE my job".
Me: "We do too, Simon. We do too." _eats sushi hungrily with eyeballs_
Seriously perfect videos. Humor, artistry, joy, respect, humility, detail. The quality is insane.
Ugh, this looks so delicious. The combinations the chef uses to make sushi is very interesting, I can only imagine how well it must taste! Thank you for the excellent video :)
Guys the production on this is FIRE omg!! This was a really awesome one
Wow guys, greeeeeat video. The editing is amazing! It made me feel fuzzy inside watching it. Thank you for that Simon and Martina.
This is probably my favorite editing you guys have ever done, the hip hop type of music with stylized graphics and edits really gave me a different feel that reminded me of the anime opening of Samurai Champloo, which was awesome, so kudos to you guys, and can't wait to see more from y'all!
props to Dan shooting B Roll in the background
Ragnarok043 was looking for someone to talk about Dan in the background. Also noticed how he ate the sushi with chopsticks and being so proper when eating it too. Lol
This video is so calming. I don't know if it is the music choice or the gorgeous shots of the food or seeing you both so happy, but it warmed my soul.
The intro of this video is awesome! N know I'm hungry for 🍣 sushiii!!! 😁
Thanks for the great video guys! Now I'm hungry and it's only 9am! 😁
Thank you for watching!

I'm constantly in awe of how entertaining, warm, and hilarious your videos are. Thank you both a million times for everything you do. Much ❤️ from Toronto!
Holy shit the editing in this video was amazing!!!😮
I can really see the extra work and effort that went into the editing, production value and appreciate the extra professional touch (while still keeping your great humour) that pays respect to this brilliant chef. Thank you for this magnificent piece, it's inspiring!

Kaleena Harris-Schlein you too my dear. Blessings. 💕💁🏻♀️🙏🏻
Y'all's video quality - production value - just gets better and better and better.
I love this new style of video you guys have been doing lately where just simply trying sushi takes you deeper into who these chefs are, what the location is about, a peek into how the industry functions, I love this.
It must take a long time, but the effort you put into this pays off.
Thank you! This video took a year to edit. Ah!
The editing in this is GORGEOUS! The sushi looks great too, you can tell just by how the chef talks that he really cares for his craft. Thank you for sharing this with us. ♥
best video you've ever made!
I am consistently surprised with how amazing your videography and editing is in your videos. Simon and Martina, your channel really stands out with good quality videos from two people with a good heart that are clearly very passionate about what they´re doing. Евгения Андреева kinda "Samurai Champloo"-esque, just love it too :D

Simon and Martina back at it again with that 17 minute long video nastiness
Loved the video. Makes me want to travel to Japan. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Hollllyyyyy snap that was beyond beautiful. Beautiful, inspirational, and educational.
It's official: your sushi videos are my favorite and this is now no. 1.
(Also loving Simon's analogy of Tenzushi to James Joyce 😸😸)
You guys are so adorable. I've been a fan since 2014. Can't to see what's next.
The opening is feels like Samurai Champloo :3
THANK YOU! That's exactly the vibe we were going for!
I was thinking the same thing!
Simon and Martina, you guys seriously inspire me to get out more, travel, and eat more interesting food. Thank you
Simon has hair!!!! Awesome video now I want sushi.
Ha! We filmed this a year ago.
Ahh totally geeking out that y'all responed!!!
I love the little modern, funky opening with the editing that reflects his sort of funky, fresh take on sushi. I feel that your documentary skills have improved so greatly. So proud of you guys! ^^
