Thanks, enjoyed that. Traded up from an eagle to a Staudacher and still couldn’t do the unknowns back in 2001.
They don’t do anyone any favors anymore. The unknowns from this past nationals were insane

That may be true for competition, however for airshow work there's nothing better than a biplane for spectator enjoyment. I believe a biplane is a better sport flying airplane. The front seat of a two-place Extra is completely blind unless inverted.
A monoplane does just about everything better than a biplane. Except tug at my heartstrings when I look at it. Nothing like the romance of a biplane.
Biplanes have more soul. There is something about them that you can’t really describe

If I was designing a figure, it’d be tailored to best use my aircraft … most those guys fly mono-whompers. I’m guessing that’s when the drag of the Bipe becomes difficult. The laser or extra can carry more energy into those negative maneuvers

Come on dude the Extra flies awfully nice. However, a biplane flies maneuvers that a monoplane can't such as knife edge. Try flying knife edge in an Extra. Just doesn't work well.
Haha I know the Eagle can’t compete with a monoplane, I just like to try all the maneuvers they submit

I don’t understand why you did not enter the competition. My experience of aviation competitions has been that competing is the best way to get subjective feedback and I would have thought that for you doing aerobatics it would be worth probably 20 plus normal practice flights. To me you are not there to compete against other to start with but to compete against your last score and to learn from the judges’ feedback. I think this was a missed opportunity.
Looking back I should have. This year will be different
