0:48 Interesting story about that scene: the people walking by are Muppet performer Jerry Nelson (Floyd, Camilla, Lew Zealand, etc.) and his daughter Christine. Jim Henson put her in because she was suffering from cystic fibrosis, and one of her dreams was to be a movie star. She would die due to complications of the illness a few years later.
While I love the original Muppet Movie, this one I think is a little better because of how free it feels. It's as if Jim and company said to themselves, "You know what? We know the world will watch whatever we do, so let's make as farcical a movie as possible and pray that it works out." And that feeling just comes across wonderfully. And of course, the constant Muppet Yeeting helps a lot too. TAXIIIII! 😂
This is my favorite of the muppet movies but I showed it to friends once and the jokes went completely over their heads and I realizer that you have to know The Muppets first to understand the brilliance and the humor.
I remember watching this movie as a kid. My whole family loved it! It was a really fun Muppet movie! The music is catchy. Happiness Hotel is still one of my favorite Muppet songs!
If you like Charles Grodin in this, then you'll love the absolute madness he faces against in the movie Clifford in the form of Martin Short portraying a young child.
This one felt a bit style over substance, with a big focus on the spectacle scenes. My favorite moment is actually the brief scene with Jerry Nelson and his daughter Christine walking by Kermit and her saying "Look Dad, there's a bear!" (I've read the book by Christine's mom which details that day on set.) And I love the Joe Raposo songs!
You're pumping these Muppet Movie reviews out! I hope that means we're getting a Christmas Carol review on Christmas Day? Muppets Christmas Carol is both my favourite Muppet Movie, *and* my favourite Christmas Movie ever. (Also im British, and *yes,* the Great Muppet Caper is hilarious!)
Here’s my Muppet Movie ranking (my opinions on this ranking may change every 2 weeks) 8. The Muppets 7. The Muppets Christmas Carol 6. The Muppet Take Manhattan 5. Muppets From Space 4. The Muppet Movie 3. Muppets Treasure Island 2. The Great Muppet Caper 1. Muppets Most Wanted
Theres a very good reason ol George tried to get Frank Oz a best supporting actor nomination for Yoda in Empire. He's an unmitigated genius and national treasure for Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Grover, Bert and so many more! Not even touching the flicks he's directed. I can't imagine what it was like for him when Jim Henson passed away. Wonderful work!!!
I subbed because it sounded like you were going to review all the other Muppet movies. But I didn't expect a new video the very next day. I hope you pace yourself to not burn out!
Henson was an extremely talented director with an exceptional skill for the logistics of practical effects. It's present even in his student films. Watch 'The Dark Crystal' and think of just how much planning went into each shot.
Somehow have never seen it, have only heard about how great it is. I grew up on the muppet movie tho, so I think there’s no reason why I won’t love this
The VHS you’re looking is a CBS/Fox Video release from around 1984. The original VHS of the “Great Muppet Caper” was from 1982 by 20th Century Fox Video in a bigger box with a cardboard slide tray where it slides opens and a tape appears. Every 20th Century Fox Video releases from 1982 does that. But sadly, the big box releases were discontinued in 1983 right after 20th Century Fox Video was rebranded to CBS/Fox Video.
OMG OMG OMG! I have watched this video on RUclips with G SMOKE 🐐🚬0⃣3⃣😜 and Black Peter Griffin and it was awesome! I love The Great Muppet Caper, Columbo, John Cleese and the Jim Henson cameo! This might be the best movie ever from the year 1981! 10 out of 10! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐

That's nice

That Get Out scene absolutely killed me
I remember watching this movie as a kid. My whole family loved it! It was a really fun Muppet movie! The music is catchy. Happiness Hotel is still one of my favorite Muppet songs!
While not as great as the Muppet Movie imo, the brother gag is one of my all time favourites
Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space were my 2 favorite movies as a child
If you like Charles Grodin in this, then you'll love the absolute madness he faces against in the movie Clifford in the form of Martin Short portraying a young child.
Also recommend Midnight Run extremely
I need to rewatch this one, I've only seen it once
the great muppet caper is the funniest and best muppet movie
"You Can't Even Sing!! You were Dubbed!!!" Is probably the funniest line I've ever heard in anything
“Gonzo takes a picture of his own god” well that gave me the hardest laugh i’ve had in a while

That's so crazy, I always thought Muppets take Manhattan was the second Muppet movie.
Talk about a Mandela effect.
That's not a Mandela effect. That's just getting something wrong.

After watching it this summer, I now officially love this movie more than the first.
I subbed because it sounded like you were going to review all the other Muppet movies. But I didn't expect a new video the very next day. I hope you pace yourself to not burn out!
I've never seen a muppet movie, but your videos really make me wanna see em
GoatJunko coming in with another banger
Anything with John Cleese in it will be great.
Never heard of this movie. I’m going to find it and watch it now. Thank you junko
At 0:20 seconds into the video, you can see Freddie Mercury playing basketball behind the Muppets in the street.
Henson was an extremely talented director with an exceptional skill for the logistics of practical effects. It's present even in his student films. Watch 'The Dark Crystal' and think of just how much planning went into each shot.
awesome x
This is my favorite Muppet movie!
Loving the Muppet Content!!! To me personally it seemed like Miss Piggy's stunt double was supposed to be obvious and another meta joke
I’m not sure whether I prefer this one or the original, the “tossing them out of vehicles” gag is amazing
So soon!?! Dang
Muppets are so timeless. Thank you for the laughs junko
I should give this one a rewatch.
Somehow have never seen it, have only heard about how great it is. I grew up on the muppet movie tho, so I think there’s no reason why I won’t love this

It is so sad that our generation of Jim Henson is …Jeff Dunham 😭
Jim was really one of a kind, gone too soon
